@@GeenSama But it's not at their their best interest to distribute wealth. People get laid off because they "cost the company" a lot of money as opposed to an automated robot that does virtually the same thing. It's not a good thing that humans care about their dividends. But I don't blame them. Society at large is to blame. And it's irreversible unless another Hitler or some crazy communist dictator takes over. We will be fucked and wish to go back to our old bu also miserable state, at least we will be free to do whatever we want(within reason), and this will make us to not be miserable if and only if we are not dependent on some overlord but make our own stuff(food and water).

You certainly have an interesting perspective on employment and if you end up accepting an offer you still appreciate after 2 years, I'd love to personally chat with you and compare outlooks if at all possible. I've taken a much more reserved approach to career, which has severely limited my career growth while ultimately putting me in exactly the position I imagined myself in, and couldn't be happier (aside from pay, of course.) Went through 3 waves of company firing staff in last 2 years. I was the lucky one, but around 60 - 70% of my colleagues were let off. It was certainly very stressful (also with company keeping us in the dark about what is happening and when, delaying it almost a whole year etc.). It makes you think at least about ways you can go, paths you can choose in case something happens or when it happens, that can be helpful. Overall IT can be very stressful in a lot of ways, take your time and follow the path you chose, good luck!

Sorry if I made wrong assumption, I assumed you made online course for yourself, not for company, right? Some shortsighted companies consider it is a deduction points because: 1. You have skills to be independent, not rely the wages/salaries company provide 2. You didn’t leak confidential data, but definitely there will be rumours that you shared knowledge for benefits - because they envy 3. Somehow you are overqualified with your skills. Therefore, hard problems they need hours to solve can be done in minutes. - so you look like relaxing to them. And always passing ball back to them really fast
