Hi friends! I recently got my first horse and I want to tell you about how I became her owner, so I made this video to explain how it happened. I was not expecting to get a horse any time soon, so it was a wonderful surprise!! I always wanted a horse but had doubts about being able to afford my own horse, but I picked up more work at the farm and as it turns out, I am in fact able to pay for her board at the farm. In this video, I'll explain how she is an easy keeper and how that impacted my decision to become her owner. She has been at the farm for the past year and I spent so much time with the horse, that when it came down to her possibly having to leave the farm, I just couldn't let her go. I explain it all in this video!

I lived in Atlanta from 12 to 42 yrs old. Horses were allowed in the city. That was back in the 70's. I miss my Trinket, a chestnut quarter horse. Horses have been one of the most abused animals throughout humankind, especially when used exclusively for transportation. They are such special loving animals and respond to human love. I miss them with all my heart. Am 64 and living in sunny and warm St. Petersburg Fl. Your vids/my subscription is inspiring me to return to the barn. Only God knows how many of these cast off horses need love and care.

Oh Kathrine, I’m so excited for you!!! What fantastic news! I went through a similar thought process when I bought my Friesian mare almost 5 years ago. I’m retired so I’m on a fixed income now. But somehow things always work out. Congratulations!! 😊

I hope the owners of the barn see how hard you are working and how much you have given up just to be this mare’s person for the last few yrs of her life and I hope they give you a decent $$ break on board or whatever else they can do for YOUR KINDNESS to this horse.

PS: The Guinness Book of World Records stated the oldest horse in the USA was a pony who lived to 52 years; she was kept by a farming family and passed down through 3 generations. Oops, correction ⛄⛄34.4 K subscribers YAY!

@@SoTheAdventure I just love horses, that's all. My mare was also named "Dutchess" (she's a Holsteiner) so it just seemed appropriate. If she wasn't up at 30, I'd tell you to breed her so you'd have a little one to carry on when Dutchess has passed. Plus, there's no experience like raising a foal. "Handfull" doesn't even describe it, but it's very rewarding watching them grow into strong and beautiful adults.

My pony was boarding b4 I got him the owners of the barn... Their health is getting bad and they could not do all of the work anymore and his owners were not there to do anything with him I was able to get a deal because my farmer friend is friends with them I help at my friends farm every day so I can spend lots of time with him and learn lots I found he has lifted my spirits too and helps my mind I'm getting confidence back working with the big animals there's cows at the farm and they are bigger than any mean boyfriend I ever had much sweeter but huge so I have to find my strength :)
