Today I got a ride in a really neat airplane. It was a last minute thing...so I only had my iPhone. I did the best I could under the circumstances. It was a great day!

I thought the video was excellent quality ! WAY BACK many years ago as a FM/FE for 8 and 1/2 years of my 31 years of military career on C-119C, C-119G and C119L Flying Boxcars with R4360 and R3350, radial engines have a special place in my heart ! That was when 115/145 Avgas was used in the radial engines. Thank You so much for sharing !

Best way to turn fossil fuels into noise! AMEN! That's an impressive aircraft! Love the cooling / heating flaps there - I've never seen that before. I drove a tractor-trailer many moons ago that had pneumatic start - I ran out of air at a rest stop! That was fun, lol. Company was real happy with me ... because I couldn't manage the terrible air leaks in that junker! :) That thing sounds fantastic! Wish the wifey wasn't sleeping right now - I'd crank up the bass on this thing here. WOW that thing gets up and GOES!! Impressive! Light bird plus big engine equals FUN! 7G capability, too! Built like a tank. Thanks for sharing, John! Looked like a ton of fun!

I may end up owning a Cessna 195 at some point. I love radials (but don't have much experience with them).

Hi--nice interesting flight. That plane made me think of the day Charlie Hilliard was flying a Yak in Ft. Worth and when he hit the brakes, they locked and he got up side down and choked to death by safety belts, I wish his plane had had a nose wheel. Keep looking and you will find that one plane you are looking for. Best regards to all the family. Texas Bill

Very cool and different aircraft I would have expected more speed with the power to weight ratio. Now that you mention the prop, it seems to be running in the opposite direction😀
@quinnjim2 жыл бұрын
When he said it had 360hp, I figured we'd be going 200 knots. It's basically a tank, so high speed is not in the cards.

I didn’t know you could make a Yak 52 flight without a roll or loop.

Yep engine sound is stunning... We always put YAK52 for normal training limit +6G... You not get more than + 2 ??!!!
@mjl9885 ай бұрын
Back seat cant use brake system,,,, It only for main pilot. Yak 52 training first lessons from back seat and the next step is front.. Then student and teacher are difrent

2 minutes of inverted fuel in oil is a long time, usually 30 secs is more than you want to be inverted. They feel like a P51, T28, or T6 when flying for a lot less money. That’s a clean plane. I bought 2 last year to start playing formation pilot with my daughter. Better buy one and enjoy your toys while you can still crawl in and out of them.

Curious. Why do owners of these airplanes wear flight suits and helmets? I see it often. Fire risk? If so, why aren't the passengers wearing flight suits and helmets? But I don't think it's a fire risk. Kind of like Mall cops who dress tacticool because they couldn't make the special forces...?

so it wasn't a Yaky ( yucky) flight then lol seen a few of them in around my area a few years ago

I may buy a "fun" plane with a couple buddies. We are looking at Citabrias (2004 and newer). This plane would be an interesting choice though.
@easttexan29332 жыл бұрын
@@quinnjim I would think maintenance on the YAK would be substantially higher than on a Citabria. To me that would certainly be a determining factor. Fortunately, I don't have to make those kinds of decisions lol.

Where is the footage of the loops? I didn't see any loops, rolls or spins.
@quinnjim11 ай бұрын
I know. We were even wearing parachutes! The owner wasn't current on aerobatics, so we took it easy.
@planefun296211 ай бұрын
@@quinnjim wait, wasn't current in aerobatics? Is this outside America? There is no such thing as "current" here. Loops and rolls and spins and barrels are simple basic maneuvers.

If the air bottles are low does it prevent the engine starting? Is there such a thing as a Yak start cart like the one used on the 707?
@quinnjim2 жыл бұрын
My understanding is that the engine won't start without air pressure. The owner had some scuba tanks filled with air just for that. You shouldn't need it if the onboard tanks hold air.
