My ongoing restoration of my Ford Escort RS Turbo Series 1. I finally get the other side of the bodykit fitter and rebuild the brakes using ST170 brake discs and Mondeo MK3 calipers

Just had your video pop up in my feed. Nice build you've got going. Best part now putting it back together, ive just finished the welding on mine. Escos wheels do look good on a S1 but not without trimming the arch lips, width and offset is just a bit much. I'm going to fit my kit with rivnuts/allen bolts.

I think rivnuts are the way forward with these kits, the eBay rivets pinch the plastic kit a bit to much so ideally you need the series 2 rivets, but then you need to paint them.

Cars just transformed when kits on ain’t it. Just another animal

240 mm original IIRC, same as my Fiesta RS turbo. Was upgraded to 260 mm in the S2, which was barely enough, hence the previous S1 always was critized for the poor braking even back then. Good job on that, only shame losing the original 15 inch RS wheels, but the safety will be improved a lot.

Agree I really like the original wheels, plus side is its all bolt on and off, I still have the original wheels and brakes that I'll refurb at some point and just keep safe

Great progress, people dont realise the time it takes to rebuild a car, i bet just getting the calipers refurbed was more than a weekends worth? It will look great when finished😁
@IRustBeNutsАй бұрын
Thank you :) It really does take a lot of time, brake caliper refurb was over 2 weekends, I could have sent them off to be done but its how we learn by having a go.

@@IRustBeNuts i wish id invested in a parts cleaner before we started to rebuild the mini, hate using the wire wheel lol. But bolting parts back on is a great feeling
