The catflap doesn’t have a setting where you can let cats in but not out again - The collars are quick-release so they can’t hurt themselves. Ralph loses his collar A LOT. As a Cat owner i can tell you, cats always go somewhere. Its been 7 years since i own my caracal and he has to go somewhere. He always come back at night for food or water. So if Ralph goes somewhere he will come back eventually

I only recently discovered your channel, and I'm enjoying it. WRT Tom and the guinea pig, I'm not surprised. One flat I lived in, I had a mini yard. My neighbor, Pam, had a French lop rabbit. It was blast watching my Maine coon, Miz Brat, playing with the rabbit, Edward. Cat even tried hopping like Edward, and Pam and I laughed a lot. Abt the cat going out, crawling under a bush, and sleeping, common. There are records of cats sleeping 10 to 18 hrs a day.

He's been patrolling and most likely marking (again) his territory. If there any other cats in the area, he might start coming home with some scratches or even worse, depends how territorial he gets and how strong the other cat will be.

A couple of years ago in summer my one cat disappeared. She is an old cat so i feared she had gone out and died somewhere since she had at this point been gone for over a month. Then another month passes, she comes running back hungry af. Never seen her eat so much in my life. Now every summer, she will be gone for weeks at end before returning home for a couple of days, before going off again. We found out she spends all her time in the huge forest behind our neighborhood. When we are out for a walk in the forest we sometimes meet her. When she sees it's us, she will walk with us home, get some food and head out again. This only happens around summer times. We like to think she goes off on a vacation or two in summer like people usually do x) Edit: Be wary of helicopter cat moms. Little haters 😂😂

It's incredible how much sleep a cat can generate from a single dish of food. Very efficient.

My cat looks a lot like Ralph. He was a stray who liked to be outside overnight and came home to sleep during the day. I changed feeding times and amounts to get him to be an inside cat overnight. He goes out in the morning without a meal so later in the day, hunger makes him come home. He is usually home before dark which in my area is the key to survival. We have urban coyotes and mountain lions. I do not have a cat door nor do I leave food out. This way, I control feeding and get the cat to associate me and coming home with food. And the best thing is he does his business outside and never inside. No cleaning a box. Woo Hoo!
