You can actually re glue those backings onto the rug once they get loose like that. The backing becomes loose over time because of the glue decaying. We do that at our shop, after that you basically get a brand new rug again.

Does that style of weaving (rolled over balls) make it very hard to clean? I have an Ibsker Rug from IKEA and want to get it cleaned or buy a new one - not sure what to do.
