I am so amazed at the work you do. You are a dreamer, a painter, an engineer and a draftsman. Many years ago, at least 50, I was a little girl living in Southern Michigan. I knew a family who had 3 boys. Each of those boys had your talent except for the youngest one. The youngest boy had talent too he could get you into so much trouble and he eventually stole my heart. I had three brothers too and so for several years we were friends, riding bikes, climbing trees, fishing and hiking. We would be friends for several more years and then my family moved out of state. Everytime I see someone who can visualize and creat things the way that you can I am reminded of my early life in Michigan and the magical summers of friendship and also puppy love that two kids can share. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.😊

Years ago craft stores used to sell "cigar boxes." They were small cardboard boxes with hinged lids. One year for the Christmas bazaar at my children's school I made little rooms in some of these boxes, complete with a clothespin doll to inhabit each one. They sold very quickly!

candles, roll it flat lay thread or cat gut - whatever your choice of wicks, I like using the inside metal wire from a twist tie, then roll with "wick" inside already so you don't have to try and thread a needle of a wick after candle is rolled. Leave extra long so you can trim to suit.. your woodwork is awesome

Amazing work and I feel your pain with the books! Made a "fantasy library" book nook for a friend for last Christmas and basically turned it into an assembly line where I similarly glued printouts onto strips of scrap plywood and then ran those through a scroll saw and cleaned up the cuts. When you have to make over 200 books, you naturally end up with an assembly line project. Glued those books onto sized strips of thick paper and then glued those blocks onto the shelves.

Well done you. As a fellow miniaturist, I AM impressed This is EXACTLY the kind of stuff I spent hours creating in my shared bedroom as a youngster...so instead of dolls (ick) I was more interested in making furniture to scale and figuring out how to build a milk carton to the size of the fridge shelf and then lettuce that looked like it and ... etc. Put down you electronic addictions folks and get creative!

I am genuinely stunned at how beautiful your miniature painting of the moon reflecting off of the water is. During the part where you were painting it, it felt very Bob Ross in that I couldn't understand what it was you were painting until the last second where you added the final touches, and it blew my mind!! The rest of the diorama is exquisite too, as per usual, but I would honestly hang that painting in my house.

Katharina, with an "a" that stands for "awesome" 👏 I couldn't believe it when I saw you making the paper, the envelope and the quill (well, and the whole room). And watching your videos is really wholesome 🙏 Just a question as I have no experience in model making: Why don't you paint (some of) the parts before glueing?
@katharinahandmade619 Жыл бұрын
Thank you so so much, i appreciate it a lot! As for your question: I guess it comes down to personal preference. For me, it’s just easier and more convenient to paint everything after i‘ve assembled it. It would probably look a little neater if it was painted beforehand. But it probably doesn’t make a very big difference, so just go with what suits you best! :)

I love your work! You include such realistic details like the books on the floor and crumpled papers. I thought your book making method was so, so, smart. I have worked in a lot of libraries and one thing stood out to me when you placed them on the shelves. All of the books have a really light colored edge and I think that doing something (you'd know better than I!) to make some of the "page edges" a bit darker would make it even more realistic. Mad props for the bed carvings!
