Kumihimo is the ancient art of Japanese braiding. Used for closures for clothing, sashes etc and now also used in jewelry. Not hard to learn, I guess it would be similar to macrame in some ways. The stained glass butterfly fairy is beautiful.

My mother did stained glass in the '80s-'90s. She purchased some of those ladies from a local glass store and made the wings herself and attached them to the lady. She made me a blue one and it now sits on my windowsill and I love her.

McFadden Art glass is located in Dundalk Maryland. I went with my hubby there and we got to each make a piece of blown glass. It was a lot of fun and they have an amazing gallery.

I always ask if someone would mind passing me something if I think they will be "hanging" awhile in a spot at the thrift. Most are nice about it. Some even strike a quick conversation if the item is weird or reminds them of their childhood.
