I don't think blindsiding into that dock was even necessary, but I'm not going to question your own decision to do it that way. Sometimes blindside backings really are necessary, and you can't get good at blindsiding if you don't practice them - including occasional situations that don't require them. This place looks like a good place to practice blindsiding at. Alternatively (for any of your viewers who might go there and not want to blindside back), you can also nose into the dock area, then sightside back into that same lane that you nosed into, then pull back out facing the street, then you'll have a straight or offset backing into the dock. When I looked at the satellite view of this place before getting to the part of the video where you arrived there, the 3-point turn-around was exactly what I had in mind as soon as I figured out where the dock was and when I saw that lane there. I'm pretty sure that lane was put there specifically for that purpose too

The last mega carrier I worked for Roehl based out of Wisconsin most of the time I was communicating with my dispatcher. If I'm close to delivery I'm asking if I have a preplan on deck so I'm not waiting. Always kept me moving but occasionally I had to wait but it wasn't often. Driving to a truck stop that far away after a delivery isn't good either because it might be in the total opposite direction of your upcoming preplan. Fuel is a huge cost out there.

Good job on the blindside but since there was very little traffic, you could have just passed the driveway and backed in off the industrial road to avoid it. Otherwise you could have pulled straight in toward the dock and back into the side road that you turned in on then pulled out toward the street to straighten up like you did at the end. Both methods would have avoided a blind side back..

My first dispatcher years ago would obviously track where I'm at and getting me loads which is nice but would always wanna schedule me JIT loads and it got to the point where I couldn't stop to take care of myself. I didn't mind switching loads to get things covered but there comes a time where I need a stop where I can stretch my legs and shower.
