Nicely done. If it's bricked anyway you have nothing to loose. Nice advice video for other people with similar issue.

I was waiting for this! Nearly bought the Novastella floodlights but was aware of the new firmware closing the OTA Tasmota flash option. I got the Boxlood 20w floods instead, hoping they would be flashable as they are controlled by Smart Life app. Nice to know I can do this if it doesn't work.

You can still control these via Tuya API if you are looking for HA or NodeRED integration

Still hoping for TUYA local control in Home Assistant, but I think the TUYA control would possibly be better than smashing and then trying to make it water proof again. Save the risk of shedding your hands......

Just for interest sakes, what features were you looking to use in the upgrade? Were you hitting compatibility issues? Interested to know as I have a number of tasmota devices and always concerned about upgrades - so far so good for me. Hopefully haven't ginxed myself :)

Weren't looking for "features" really, just noticed the revision, was playing with something else, had the tasmota .bin around so I thought I'd OTA it :D

It's a rough way to flash a flood light. If you can get a piece of perspex cheap that is the right size and flood it with silicon sealant I guess you could seal it up and make it work. How long did it take to get all the broken glass out?
@notenoughtech
@notenoughtech 2 жыл бұрын
About 15 min to scrub all the pieces. Longer than I thought it would. I will cover the guts eventually.

Did you try to heat the edge of the glass with a heat gun and a plastic wedge to save the glass?
@notenoughtech
@notenoughtech 2 жыл бұрын
yeah, the whole thing acts like a giant heatsink. One of the commenters used a piano wire which much better results. That would be the way to go I think

I've been searching all over for a video on how to open the light, couldn't find any so I started to MacGyver it and now the video pops up on the feed, lol lol Got all the silicone out between the glass and frame now to get a thin wire or guitar string under the glass. UPDATE !!! I MANAGED TO GET THE GLASS OFF !!!

That's gonna be very hard. I had to put a decent amount of force to scrape the adhesive from the shell with a screwdriver

Oh brother, use gloves. My flood lights are manual with a tuya switch in the wall for both. Any change of putting some of the Node-red flows on your Website?

Yeah blasted with a heat gun without much luck. Another way would be chemically dissolve the adhesive... But hammer was much closer to my hand
