I figured I was over complicating the shell jump in the troll level...but is anyone really surprised by that lol?

Just a tip for that 1st troll level, it's like the Trollja Vu level by Simplectic, if you ground pound in a boot(or anything for that matter), just don't hold down. 😉 The poundage still occurs but pipe enterage does not. 😆

27:04 you can run through booma when he is squashed ( after jumping on him or hitting with fireballs) Stun him once and run past and through iceblocks. Still a stupid softlock.

I can relate to that last one. It's really easy to have a great idea with a lot of great smaller ideas to go with it, but not have enough to make a complete level. As a good rule of thumb, though, troll level "boss fights" should be avoided unless they're just a quick gag. Challenging is for antisoftlocks and quick reflex moments used to make people react too fast later and stumble into other trolls.

That second troll level with the “shell jump” even had an indicator to tell which spot to duck under the spiny was safe and not safe. I appreciate that little detail.

@DGR You were DGR blind in the last level. Before the 2nd checkpoint there was the hallway with a red cannon. It shot out a spiky shellment. All you have to do was drop one of the two doughnuts, get the cannon to fire, run back to the hole and boom spikey shellment half way through the level and the rest of the stuff you did not like you would not even have to do.

Dave, even if the shell jump was actually needed (which it isn't, you could just drop the shell down), you are on expert level boards, these tricks are expected at this level of play.

The "Dad Mode" level had a clear before he even played it. I saw a clear flag in the more info when he checked it. So someone beat it right after he refreshed the page.

Good catch. Kind of annoying that SMM2 doesn't update the completion information on the level select. I'll load up a list of uncompleted levels, and as I go along, I'll come across levels that were beaten, even though the level select doesn't say so. Gotta make a habit to check out the level info to make sure.

17:45: QOTD, I say you're supposed to put the POW on the right and go down the left, so you can do another loop of the seesaw to get the POW.

You can't go that way. The see-saw will block you from going that way no matter how much it is tilted

Wouldn't work because the wall is in the way. The reason he can go around in the right is because there's no wall at the edge of the see-saw.

22:19 That launcher shoots spiny shelmets. You can actually cheese that level by lowering the first set of donut blocks, then activating it and quickly going back before they respawn. That way, you can destroy the blocks below the goal right after the mashing boom boom part.

Ok. I'm glad I'm not going nuts on my own and that absolutely every one else also realized that you could just drop the shell or pow down below without actually going down there first and that would let you bring the second item. You definitely don't need to shell jump (and I'm actually curious if the last block has something helpful). You also don't need to mash. You can go back and forth on the boom boom while it's I-framed.

The shell was the intended weight. They put the munchers there to bait you into throwing the POW block so you'd lose it.

you don't NEED to shell jump, you can also drop the pow down, giving you enough height to get back up for the shell.

The first level is a good example that in order to make a good troll level you need more than trolls and tricks. He used a lot of Symplectic trolls but he lack the artistry of a good level creator to make it coherent and fun.

pow was definitely the intended way, the munchers are supposed to be to make you use the pow and have no way in the door but they actually go away on their own

So I know it's easier from the perspective of a viewer as opposed to the perspective of the player but the p switch thing at the beginning of this video seemed very straightforward to me, like to me it was just as linear of a path as 1-1 is to a speed runner
