I Hate HUNTING So I Bought A Deer Feeder 🦌 - Moultrie Standard Deer Feeder
I've never been much of a hunter but I do enjoy seeing the deer on our property. We bought a deer feeder to attract them and are putting up some game cameras to hopefully get some good pictures.

I haven't hunted in many years however as a young man hunting was a big part of my enjoyment. That being said different strokes for different folks, to each his own. I appreciate the fact your thinking of your viewing public that we may enjoy seeing what is on your and Sondra's farm. I for one am interested. Thank you, good luck in capturing some usable photos/videos you can share. 😊 on a different subject are you and Sondra gonna be doing any AI for the sows if so that would be of interest to see again. Make sure Sondra has her spurs on just in case. I appreciate you folks very much. Wishing you and yours all the best. Specially your Mom.❤

Cool twist on your usual material. It would be fun to sit and watch the deer and whatever else may come by with the trail cam. Anyway, I’ve never hunted…not that I’m above it….I may even do it someday…but it’s definitely important because we got a deer this year….with our new car…(on I-79)which fortunately wasn’t totaled….yep….deer population seemed to have exploded lately here in Pennsyvania

Whenever we eat deer we mix 50/50 ground venison with ground pork from our hogs. Works great for tacos, shepherds pie and anything else that calls for ground beef. I don't actively hunt, but I get out there every couple days during season and sit up on a tree branch during a morning or an evening. You could say I'm an "opportunistic" hunter. I don't go by the whole "ethical" hunting idea though. The "Don't shoot a deer eating" or "don't shoot a deer drinking" etc. My kids are hungry and they need to eat.

I respect your views on it Chuck. I hunt and love processing my own game putting that meat in the freezer. I do find that a doe will taste better and I grind most of mine into ground venison. Spaghetti sauce, taco meat, chili, etc. Those type of meals it is very similar to ground beef to me but adding the pig fat helps (Most the time we do half beef and half venison). As a we look forward to building our family farm I hope to balance it out with growing my own livestock and still hunt. We do a mixture now and find it to be just right for our family: We hunt for meat, but also will buy a quarter beef from a local farmer. I got my first game camera a few years ago and I find just looking at the new pictures and seeing what critters are captured is very fun all on its own.

A couple perspective items from me. I hunted whitetail deer with my father and it was a father and son thing but when he started to have leg problems and couldn't go I didn't go because it didn't feel right. You're right it does take a lot of time and effort. I remember getting up at 3:30 to 5:30 in the morning depending upon an hour drive to go and get in the woods before the sun came up. But if you make sausage or jerky or prepare it right, venison tastes good and what's better is, for less than $100 for your tags, not counting processing, you can get 100+ pounds of meat. That's the main benefit from a feed-your-family part. It's funny since my area is changing from rural to urban and communities would rather spend tax dollars on birth control methods for deer populations rather than letting people hunt which is win-win if done right.

I’m a former hunter myself, and agree with your opinion 100%. It’s just not my thing anymore. But your headline says “I hate HUNTING”, which I think is misleading. I think you don’t hate hunting, but you do hate being a hunter. Two different things. Keep up the good work.

I have had it!! I am unsubscribing!! No not at all. JUST KIDDING! I feel you presented this well and I like your boldness in presenting your viewpoint. I am a hunter and I view the lean meat of venison as its big asset. My doc says that if it runs; it is heart healthy. That parallels with my preference for grass finished beef. I love the challenge of hunting but am increasingly having a hard time approaching my kill. It is the part I do not like. I never trophy hunt but take the first legal buck I can find. Of course, there is still bragging rights in getting a big one, but for me meat is the focus. Hunting ethics is a big deal to most all hunters. Personally, I have never heard of anyone leaving the carcass in the woods. I have heard of people poaching at night, trespassing or taking high risk shots, one of which, killed another hunter. That is what I totally oppose as unethical hunting.
@SheratonParkFarms
@SheratonParkFarms 9 ай бұрын
Thanks Dwight. Appreciate you not unsubscribing 😆. You make a lot of good points. I’m not against hunting or hunters at all. I think both are very valuable. Part of my dislike is that I can’t sit still in the woods for more than a few minutes 🤣🤣. I’ve got too much to do. And I certainly don’t like sitting still when it’s cold. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.

@@SheratonParkFarms Yes, you are right about your acknowledgement of the importance of hunting and your dislike for sitting still in boring, freezing, miserable conditions. I caught it when you made your points in the original post. The difference is out West we stalk our prey where in the East hunters must hunker down and wait for game to pass by through thick underbrush and forests. Out West we climb ridges, descend open coulees and even flush the thickets to bag our prey as it escapes across openings headed for other thickets. So, hunting out West solves your major objection to the stationary, bitter cold and long boring waits for three seconds of an adrenaline rush. No worry at all of me unsubscribing as I love your channel and even agree with you that waiting in a blind is not my way to add meat to the larder. The world needs non-hunters like you to make room for stealth hunters like me. However, I am also glad that boys of the East figured a way to control the population of wild game with their miserable tree stands. Enjoy a nice, thick beef steak today!

Corn feed deer is the worst. Deer and goat fat is waist because of it's flavor. Your buddies that cooked that took old deer and tried to make it edible. You grind old cows bulls and pigs for a reason yet a 6 year old rutty buck is sapos to be good nope. I take my deer the same as my steers at about 18 months old. Tender enough to cut with a fork if not over cooked. Their deer was also processed as fast as possible I hang about 2 weeks to age just like cattle. I have several people that hate normal handled venison ask for a couple packages of mine. Especially the ham I make out of shoulder and nect
