This is less efficient than the normal instructions on wire saws such as the best glide you mentioned. Just take any bent piece of wood, notch both ends, insert the wire and have the O rings catch and you are done. And it's more secure. No need to find a branch with a Y, measure diameter of rings, etc.

Great advice! I've had a wire saw with me once and after that terrible experience I've left it at home. Now I know better! I'll make sure to put it in my Bug-Out Backpack!

I think it says on some wire saws packages how to make bow saw. I think I read it on the back of mine because that was the first thing I did when use it; I made it into a bow saw.

Good idea. I tell you though, the absolute best saw that I have found for cutting branches and small trees is a Japanese style saw. The blade cuts on the pull, not the push like a regular saw. Its very easy and the cuts are as if they are finished, very smooth. So building with it is easily possible, including flush joints. Also the saw cuts hardwood like hickory with ease.

So the one I got came with a little book with survival tips and such. that is how you are supposed to use it. Or by putting a stick through both ends as handles to make a pull saw.

I've seen the beast version of the wire saw its called a wire chainsaw? But it looks and performs a lot better than the wire survival saw just a tip!

When i was a kid my mom bought me a survival knife. I always wondered what that metal thing was. Now i know. I have no idea why she bought it for me. I was like 10 at the time and it's not like we did any outdoors stuff in my family.

That looks like a tops knife.... just bought their pig sticker and his just reeks design stagnation. On one hand that’s sad for the tops brand but on the other if it’s anything like mine I can say with confidence that these are not mall ninja knives. Originally I got it for reference as I was designing a, well, pig sticker. I went to a school for blacksmithing not too long ago, bet I could forge one easy, titanium is forgable but I also wanted ferro rod strikable so the plan was 1095 file steel. Got the knife and decided screw it and I just continue carrying my flint and steel with a bic tucked in the bottom of my burn bag
