SOVIET ARMS 5.56 KRINK TRIANGLE SIDE FOLDING PISTOL, JMAC RAIL, ALG, AND SOVIET ARMS GRIP
FEATURES
The Soviet Arms AKS-74U “Krinkov” pistol features a side folding rear trunnion, hinged dustcover, and short barrel for the most compact AK PSA has offered to date. This pistol is equipped with a black triangle side folding pistol brace, hinged dustcover with integrated rear sight, ALG trigger, Soviet Arms grip, and the new JMAC Krink rail. The original AKS-74U was adopted in 1979 to bridge the gap between a sub gun and a full-length rifle. This Soviet Arms AKS-74U is chambered in 5.56x45 and still maintains all the charm and aesthetic of the original 5.45x39mm Krinkov, but in an easier to obtain caliber.

One time I put the keys to my 99 civic in the sun visor so I could flip them out like a cool guy the next time I jumped in. Forgot that I put them up there, spent hours looking for them, drove around with my spare key for a couple nights until I went to use the sun visor for real and they fell right out onto me. Felt very cool.

I definitely agree on a practical level given the short barrel. But I can sort of get why they went with 5.56mm (beyond just how common it is), which is maybe PSA did it just because the 5.56x45 bullet & cartridge is closer to the AK-74’s native 5.45x39 cartridge than .300 Blk, which is 7.62x35, and that is closer to the standard 7.62x39 AK-47 round.

PSA are truly great. You can get things for a good price, learn on them, then get something better if/when you decide to get serious. It's like that cheap guitar you got in High School, but you love it because it introduced you to music, even though you use something better now. The budget first timer phase is more important than people realize.

@@TheZero12344 that is correct. With the 545 74u, I found some ammo was very inaccurate and some was decent enough. Usually the lighter bullets were more accurate, 55 and 60gr. There's just not enough barrel to spin the heavier bullets
@mrdato116
@mrdato116 4 ай бұрын
"No man, 556 bad"-combloc soys lol. Soviet Union stoped producing 74u, because majority of soldiers hated it. It's a cool factor, nothing else. 400 dollar AR will outperform it in every way. But let's not forget some delusional soys were paying 3000+ for arsenal 556 Krink. Now they screeching.
@CiviTac
@CiviTac 4 ай бұрын
It’s funny you mention that because in my experience a 545 krink built right isn’t a very accurate platform anyway. If I can hit c zone steel at 100 every time then I’m good to go with a little PDW+ style weapon like this

That's the reason that the Krink has a different barrel twist than a normal 74 and 5.45 rifles.
@tylerwilliams6022
@tylerwilliams6022 4 ай бұрын
@@CiviTacI myself was wondering what round would be most suitable for the Krink. When I was younger, I would have said 5.45 for the realism. Then I thought with 5.45 being harder to source these days using 5.56 instead as a ballistic clone of 5.45. But lately I've been wondering if 7.62x39 is possibly a better option for such a short barrel. Or day I say it, maybe even a 300BLK Krink?
@CiviTac
@CiviTac 4 ай бұрын
@@tylerwilliams6022 762 does really really well out of short barrels ballistically. I don’t see any benefit of the 556 or 545 in an 8in barrel rather than 762. I guess you could argue recoil? But that’s a stretch especially because it’s really a tanker sized gun anyway so accurate fire or recoil control isn’t particularly important. This gun is obviously designed with full auto in mind with uses inside 100yds. At least that’s where I’d see it be most useful. I’ll take my 11.5 suppressed ar15 in every scenario over this setup too. But krinks are so cool.

Yeah, I'm down with the "Raw Deal" instrumental. Although, the overhead fan almost had me in the "Apocalypse Now" vib. Darken the room, do all the dialog on the bed or floor, start the Doors music, have the H&R M16A1 close by, and then when the messengers/MP's show up instead of asking "What are the charges?", take the case of rounds, mags, grab the rifle and head to the flat range. Yeah, I need some sleep. Great vid, catchya later!

I like my PSA Krink a LOT. Got the JMAC version. 20.5" folded, 29" extended, smooth as can be and shoots like a dream. It is a tad loud, but that's the price for admission in a compact firearm chambered in a rifle caliber. PSA hit a home-run with this one.

Given the results on this video, I did some accuracy testing with my PSA Krink. I took my JMAC version to the range and checked it for accuracy using various 5.56 ammo. I put a Vortex Venom 6 MOA red dot on the gas tube rail, and using a rest I checked accuracy at 50 yards (my range was a soupy/muddy mess beyond the 50 yard mark). My worst group was 2 1/2" with Winchester white box 55gr. My best group was 1 1/4" with PMC X Tac 62gr LAP. Given that this is a short-range weapon, I'm fine with these results. I think that, given the poor accuracy from the gun in the video, I would send it back to PSA and have them do a rebuild. Something is clearly not right with that gun.

I bought and sbrd an m92 because that was all that was out there at the time that was like a krink. I would love to see a direct comparison for accuracy and quality. However. After my fire control group pins egged out and my rivets loosened after about three thousand rounds, My m92 needed to be retired. maybe my baby just not the highest quality. I bought a n PXAAK-P to replace it before WA banned everything. Wish these were out then. Though both are nice guns, the zastavas and the AK-P are not krink clones.

Hey @AdministrativeResults Im no gun barrel metallurgist, but most barrel break in procedures involve shooting one or a couple of rounds and then cleaning the bore for like 20 rounds. Theoretically it gets any imperfections out. Idk how b_ump firing 500 rounds straight off the rip affects the barrel. Food for thought lol. Love the content as always

Why do some people say 556 is not good from 8.5 inch barrel? Just grab 77grain 556 , it will have better performance from shorter barrel than 60grain 545. Hk51 , Fn short, sig p556 all have short barrels are 556 amd are used by special forces, Canadian police units have 7.5 inch ars with pdw stocks. Even arsenal was selling 556 krinks but they were asking 3000+ for one....

Pro tip you can actually mount a red dot behind the iron sights with an RS regulate mount. I recommend a 302m rear biased lower mount, acog micro upper and a Primary Arms GLx 2X. This gives you the ability to see and identify at distance without being to overbearing with magnification.
