I guess I'm the outlier. I'm a 30 something lady and I love your channel! I'm not too into houseplants now but I do obsess over roses. There's an incurable virus that's plaguing roses on the east coast called rose rosette. I'd love to tissue culture some discontinued rare varieties to fill my garden with.

I just want to say I've SEEN thr monkey plant growing in REALLY warm, like 90F heat and very high humidity in a very heated hot house down here in Australia. You can probably easily grow them. They are from Asia so likely are better with heat than whatever you're reading. They're quite something to see.

Just stumbled across your channel and you seem super cool! The way you pair science with growing plants is so interesting to me. Will definitely watch more 😊 I live in Germany and I’m planning to go visit ecuagenera soon, their store is 20 minutes away from my house and I didn’t even know it till recently! Seeing them here gets me even more excited to see their varieties of orchids, even though I’ll be there for the aroids 👀

Wow, lucky to get a pup off such a small/young Ae Ae :) They seem to grow quite slowly compared to other bananas, with less chlorophyl etc. Another KZfaq lady had an all-white Ae Ae pup but I don't think it survived. I've read that soil acidity can affect the variegation possibly. You might like to experiment on a cheap banana plant before going straight to an expensive Ae Ae? Good luck!

I am so glad to have found your channel and generally the whole area around Tissue Culture. It's super exciting and you are so incredibly sympathetic :) I work in university and currently building a roof top garden and also plant cabinets with different light spectra in the lab. We are testing how to influence plants through light recipes. Or how to eliminate pesticide free weeds through e.g. robots. Currently I am building different hydroponics and rain catchment systems. Privately, I have been very interested in philodendrons of all kinds and their propagation for a long time. I think I have cut something from pretty much every plant in my area and put it into nutrient solution. So far in mineral hyro culture with H2O2 and UV-C light which also works quite well. We are a MakerSpace and I do not always want to buy the expensive equipment directly, but always try first time around itself... so I built as the first step a laminar flow box :-D Next week I'll try the sterile work. Thank you for your videos and that you are so cool! That inspires people and infects them. Questions arise and the desire to answer them. That is really good! I wish there were more young women like you in my area :-D Good luck to you and I look forward to your new videos! Greetings from Germany ;)

I love african violets! Your collection of them is amazing 😍 But I live in colder climate and have trouble keeping them alive.. 😅 Maybe you could make an in depth video of your varietys and care for them? I'm also wishing you a good recovery and hope that you can be a plant mom in action again very soon. I also was wondering what the difference between normal propagation and TC is except one needs less material for TC and I assume it takes longer than just propagating a leaf..? But what are the benefits of TC vs. propagation?
@plantsinjars
@plantsinjars Жыл бұрын
Thanks! When you propagate an African Violet from a leaf cutting, it takes a few months to grow 2 or 3 babies. When you propagate them via TC, it takes 6 or so months, but you can grow hundreds or thousands of plants. So TC is more viable for large scale operations, when people are trying to make money by selling plants :) Hope that helps!

@@plantsinjars I see....has anyone tried growing them in the same liquid medium aerate and in constant motion? I am imagining a 500 ml beaker with stir bar. A stainless steel oxygen stone could be dangled freely with impeding the rotation of the beaker....or perhaps the stirring is overkill, why not a beaker with the same solution used in the biocoupler and a stainless steel oxygen stone? Would almost be like a typical aeroponic hydroponic setup. I have been a home mycologist for about 25 years and I am finally getting into micropropagation....I will for sure try what I just described...perhaps I am speaking nonsense, but won't know until I try.
