I have a shopping addiction too and it’s definitely emotional. I buy things to make myself feel better and it doesn’t really feel the void. It sucks, you shouldn’t be so harsh on yourself.

Well done for uploading. First step to addressing any addiction. Take each day at a time and be strong. Can you perhaps go through what you have and maybe try and sell. You are not alone. Be strong ❤

Hi Sophie, I just wanted to comment to let you know that you're not alone. I have very similar issues with shopping (online shopping in particular). I don't have any advice as I've tried a lot of things to stop and I still shop. I have slowly been getting better and it's becoming less of a problem. Being completely honest and open with family and my husband has helped me. Trying to remove the negative emotions from shopping as well has helped, I think seeing it as bad, or yourself as bad for doing it makes it worse. My therapist said to me to try and see it as a habit and work on breaking the habit. It's a journey and it's a tough one but mainly I just wanted you to know you're not alone. X

I think the important part is that you’re admitting it to yourself that it is a problem. The key afterwards would be trying to figure out how to change that habit, because I promise you that it doesn’t really matter how much you make when the issue is your reaction to your emotional state. When you’re sad or upset (which is your trigger), do something else other than shopping, such as watching a funny movie/sitcom, going out for a walk/exercising, etc.

Hey xx good to hear you being so honest.. I'm EXACTLY the same n for me its got worse over the years.. and its got to the point now where I'm that addicted to online shopping it keeps me awake at night all night!! I literally cannot get off the sites... really do not want you getting to that point!! Xxx I wish I'd been honest to myself really yrs ago x

I can totally relate to the staying up at night thing. it becomes all-consuming and I can't stop thinking about an item until it purchased. It almost gives a sense of anxiety and to purchase it just relieves that.

Wow sooo helpful. Thank you both for admitting this, as it’s now where I’m at with the shopping. I’m watching this at midnight to try and stop obsessing over items. I have OCD.

I also have an online shopping addiction, clothing is my weakness. But I've banned myself from anything designer. I recently had to buy myself a whole new wardrobe (weight changes), so I found a store with super cheap clothing, which saved my budget. Now, I don't have to buy any more clothing. I just buy grocery food, now. I also got rid of my credit cards a long time ago, and just use a debit card. I pace out my spending, and stop buying too many things until pay day.

I too lie n justify about my purchases I even have parcels in my car.. in the boot..I get some out wen I'm alone n.open them.. and even do this in the car by going for a drive to park up n open them. N then the new parcels get put I there and so on.. I do that because of the volume of parcels I have delivered...hubby cant believe how much comes..and the postman thinks same!..but hubby only gets to see half the amount thats actually delivered!!

I feel your pain . The shopper on me wants to share the excitement in knowing want your bought and my brain shares the sympathy in knowing there’s something causing it underneath
