Men need to be equal in regards to provision, shared time and nights etc. (Except the first or second wife drops some of these rights willingly). If the man cannot be just in these things and fear that he cannot be just, then he should marry only one. But the default is having more than one wife (Quran starts with two wives). 2. Men will never be just in regards to their emotions as they can't control it. But this is not meant in being just. Again, justice means to provide for both equally and share time with both of them equally UNLESS one of the wives drop this right by themselves willingly.

Tell them to imagine a woman with 4 husbands at once and all 4 want multiple children. Shes gonna die or be forced to make some of those men as childless which would cause conflicts. Now imagine 1 man with 4 wives and they all want multiple children and he has the means to care for them. It would be easy and no isssue. The fact that he would have to be married to all of them would disuade 99% of men wanting to do this. Only the most charismatic or rich men would be able to pull this off. We might not have a specific god reason as to why men are allowed but not women but if you look at it logically and try to think for all of human history and the world,1 man with multiple women is doable, 1 woman with multiple men is a disaster.
