The more people openly discuss mental illness, the easier it gets to remove the negative stigma surrounding them. We can all be okay.

You just moved, took a trip, changed your whole life. If this didn't trigger an anxiety flare up, I'd think you were a robot. I remember when I got a promotion and moved to a house at the same time. I had insomnia, and I was exhausted all the time. I told a friend I couldn't understand why I was so overloaded when this was exactly what I wanted. She told me "Change is stressful, even when if it's good change" So remember that and take it easy.

I always have a difficult time explaining how i feel to people. And when i finally explain how i feel, i always feel misunderstood. Feeling the same afterwards... Meditation, gratitude and practicing affirmations and realising that you are completely normal relieves you from a lot of stress. I hope you are doing well today.

Sometimes it's harder when you're young because you don't have the experience of how to deal with it. I had much worse anxiety when I was 19-20 than now that I'm 24. it takes time to know yourself. It will get better and better if you work on it :-)

@TheMaikiller I think it's a great simplification in terms of understanding the thought process. When you're anxious (which is what I suffer from) everything you worry about is literally hypotheticals, and forward thinking. Its a lot of what-ifs and dreading of things to come. I don't experience depression, but from people I've spoken to, the weight you feel is based on things that have happened or are happening. Like, it's based on conclusions rather than hypotheticals. So to simplify this, anxiety is based on unknowns, and depression is based on the knowns. They're closely linked. BUT, you're right, you can't fix this just by "thinking differently" or "accepting the past"

Things that have helped me manage my anxiety: • seeing a counselor/therapist that can help me identify what I’m feeling, why I’m feeling it, and how to cope with these feelings. • having friends that will not shame you or dismiss your anxiety. They will help you through the really tough moments and rejoice with you through the victories. • Yoga, yoga, yoga. Helps me breath and release the tension I’m holding. • Allowing myself to take s l o w moments. Drinking tea. Reading a book. Sitting outside. One thing at a time❤️

What I learned from dealing with anxiety is that the physical symptoms are often related to the way you breath. Stress/panic can cause you to take shallow breaths, putting you in a state of hyperventilation (dizziness, tingling in the lips, hands or feet, headache, weakness, fainting). Recognising this and learning to control your breath can really help you regain.

Things that have helped ne through some tough times: 1: Acceptance. Accept the feelings, let them flow don’t try to push it away 2: Routine. A routine of healthy meals and exercise, things that make you happy, which leads to the key to winning over the anxiety: CONFIDENCE. If you feel confident in your life situation and body, you almost always win the battle when feelings of anxiety starts coming. Another way I go about this is that feelings of anxiety can be a way for the body to tell you to slow the f*ck down. So if you start feeling it, take a day off, sleep like a baby, watch movies, relax. The day after will be 100 times better. Great content, you’re a big inspiration to me! Peace🤘🏻

I've had some severe anxiety that prevented me from getting out of my bed, two weeks ago. The thing that changed was when I realized it was just a matter of time. Time for me to get through it, because everything changes, but also time for myself. Turns out stressing about responsibilities was driving me crazy, so I just started to take time to get proper rest, to be with myself and do the things I truly enjoy. The anxiety has reduced a ton after that. Also, I have two mantras for dealing with overthinking. "Whatever happens, happens" (Cowboy bebop reference), and "Change what you can change, and learn to accept what you can't change". Despite the nature of impermanence, we have to learn to accept that we can't change some things, and that's ok. Hope some of these help you dude. I can only feel empathy and appreciation for the vulnerability. Thanks for sharing those.

I have this as well that drives me away from the things that I love because of the responsibility that comes with it. Tbh I don’t know how to handle it and cater the issue from within. I’ve been having this problem for a few years now. What do you do regularly to brave yourself to take the responsibility? Do you have any books/some reading you can recommend me to calm this symptoms down?

@@unnimaya5681 I think you are definitely on to something here - idk if it's that way with Matt or not, but you just made me see the link between my anxiety and perfectionist tendencies. I've come a long way in both, but I think you are right that at least in my case, anxiety makes me feel like I'm out of control. Keeping my space or things I'm doing "perfect" makes me feel like I'm taking that control back. But too much perfectionism can then lead to more anxiety, which leads you to be even more of a perfectionist and then a downward spiral from there (like Dokkodon says in the comment below). And yes I'm quarantine binge watching Matt's channel in Oct 2020 and commenting on many of the old videos lol. Wish I would have found this channel sooner and been watching these videos all along!

Hey there, I've been going through the same thing for a few years now, so it means a lot to hear you talk about this so openly because I would've never guessed you to be an anxious person. From your minimalist lifestyle to outgoing personality, you seemed very relaxed and 'regular,' so I'm happy to see you speak out about this as a form of therapy. It not only gives others the comfort that we're not alone, but we also get to see someone cope with it and tell us how he's doing it. Moving can be scary and starting over in a new place can very well feel like you're dying. I've been there with any change in the norm. You'll make it out the other side, we all do, but thanks again for sharing your experience.

WoW!! This is exactly me. I have been dealing with anxiety since I was 21, but when I moved into my parent's house five months ago after three years to take a break from my full-time job, out of nowhere, I started having severe panic attacks. And also about the fights, even minor turbulence scares the life out of me. The thing is, even those people who really want to help me don't understand what I feel when I am having an episode.

I never thought that you can ever get anxious. I always looked up to you with all hopes. But now more respect to you for speaking up about this. This often happens and I didn't knew how to exactly get out of it. An anxiety takes over your inner own, disables you and oppresses finally. But there's always a hope in mind that pulls it out of the dark well. Keep speaking up about mental health. Tq

Hi Matt, thank you for sharing this. Anxiety gets me sometimes too, I feel overwhelmed and how you said it ,,without of control." Sometimes it helps me feel my body, I mean to be in the body not in the head. e.g. I´m laying in my bed worrying about tomorrow tasks and work, and how early I have to get up and be fresh .... knock knock - here is your anxiety! So it helps me realize - I´m NOW laying in my bed, feel how cushy it is, smell the sheets, lay my hand on my belly and feel the breath... And it helps me calm my anxiety mind. Greetings from Czech republic and again, thank you for sharing your feelings and thoughts :)

Matt, I had it pretty bad a couple of years back so I just wanted to share what helped me personally, in order of importance: - Started boxing (your stress levels go UP when sparring with someone, then plummet down after the session, and the amazing thing is, they stay down. This could be any sport that's physical, and also confrontational) - Went to therapy - Stopped drinking coffee - Got into nature more often I notice you drink a lot of coffee - it's real, try cutting it out. Hope you get better man and thanks for sharing, love your vids

Do you think therapy was a major factor in you strengthening your mind? How long after you quit caffeine did you see things get better? Just curious. I had 2 panic attacks beginning of June, since then I’ve quit smoking weed carts and caffeine all together. I’ve also been put on Prozac by my doctor. Just wondering if I can attribute some of this severe anxiety to quitting those 2 drugs cold turkey. I’m also moving and looking to change jobs so I know that can be a factor even though I’m excited about moving.

@@RolandKoller90 If you're thinking about therapy i'd do it, it usually can only be a positive thing, at least to try for a few months. Hard to say, because I did a bunch of things at the same time (that which I said above), so can't be sure of any which one is was that helped specifically

Thank you for being transparent with us Matt. Dealing with creapling anxiety is scary thing, for me it helped to realize that it's okey to feel that way. Anxiety is all about your nervous system and your capacity of it to adapt to your world. If you push too hard on adaptation (work, sport, worrying...) and do not overcompensate with some rest, there you're getting anxiety. It's your body telling you to slow down. You have to overcompensate to get back to normal. (good sleep, massage, sun..)

anxiety can be so overwhelming, our minds can be so skilled at convincing us what is true or what isn't... i went through a period of severe anxiety and one thing i was very afraid of in that time were the mice in our house... i was afraid they'd jump me in my sleep... to the point where i slept with the lights on, felt things moving on my legs but when i looked nothing was there... knowing that is scary. but it's also powerful! we can *use* our minds to shape the reality we desire! anything is possible :)

I really know what you mean! I have anxiety from september...it s actually hard to deal with it.... but...i have some tips for ya... 1. Try to tell this to your parents; They might help u a loot bcz they know you the best 😉 and they are grown adults and know much more abt this. 2. Search for some stress toys (or make your own ; there are a lot of tutorials on yt). It might sound fake, but i tried and this actually works 😋 : when you feel anxious, grab a hand made paper squishy and play with it . Take deeeeeep breaths and do it for like 10-20 seconds. And then , you will feel better!💛 3.Drink water!!!!! You can t actually survive without it...but it also helps you feel better AND lost weight.💧 4.BE CONFIDENT ABOUT YOURSELF!!!!!!! NOBOBY ON THIS PLANET should make you change youself....moral: CHANGE YOURSELF OOONNLYY IF -YOU- WANT TO!!! 😎💅🌟 Hope it works and have an amaaazing year!! Smile a lot and remember you re beautiful and unique!!!❤🌟
