I remember years ago (1980s) when my mom’s 1977 Ford LTD II station wagon had a mouse living in the driver’s side fender well. Luckily they never made it inside. That being said, I had an opossum living in my old truck’s passenger fender well (12 years ago). Hard to keep the wildlife out.

I usually have to hood open to keep Betty on the juice and I didn't smell anything from the rear. But I checked the spare compartment this morning just in case. I find nests in the firewood and the car isn't very far away from it.

I lived on a remote farm and had a weird sweet smell in the car. Kept seeing the nests, they were even in the roof. I finally opened the spare tire area and the entire well was full of mouse piss. Insane. I had to get a turkey baster to suck out a gallon of it.

We havent had mice in the vehicles, but they just chewed in the fal the wiring on our hvac for the defroster board. $200 later it was fixed. Guess our cats didnt do their job that day. Lol

Also, I use Natures Miracle to get rid of the urine and dropping stains and smells

Here's my list of bad ideas: 1. Build a cat door in the car to keep the mice away. 2. Buy a car just for the mice to nest in. 3. Befriend the mice and become their leader. This is why I need your channel, Eric.

4. Park car in ankle deep pool of water I have used these machines that our landlady swears by that make a sound that rodents hate, it's supposed to deter them from the apartment. Plugging one into the garage seems like at least a not terrible idea.

@@christineb8148 Sorry, your idea isn't bad enough for my dumb list! As far as insects are concerned, I heard that noise deterrents weren't true. I haven't heard anything about rodents and sound.

@@chrisdonovan8795 haha dang it- I 'll have to aim lower 😛Anecdotally, the noise seems to be somewhat effective at least as part of a deterrent strategy - plugging holes etc - and within a certain distance to the machine. Also, my sister used one outdoors to keep the hordes of chipmunks out of her strawberries and it did cut down on the little marauder's damage.

How deeply unfortunate that I am the first to comment, because after receiving your notification, I practically screamed: "So do I...!" I also said exactly what you said: "what IS that smell!?" This was just today, so your video was a blessing. I would have gagged and then passed out had I not been prepared. I'll deal with it tomorrow. Just another day in paradise. (Love your channel, BTW. We have to know the unpleasant truths...they probably would have driven off with my car pretty soon)

same here. My mice build their nests up in the spare tire somehow. *edit* I just remembered that I've had to replace the mass airflow sensor 3 times now.

Do you think the mice fouled the air meter? Or did they eat the wires attached.

I have had this issue for a long time cost me $1000 to get the car wiring harness replaced and rewired because they built a nest in the engine and destroyed the wiring

Definitely not as bad as having a squirrel in your engine area. Especially if you have a pit bull. 2 front fenders replaced and front of car repainted (after teeth marks fixed). Finally drove car 50 miles away from my house to a grocery store, solved problem…

Wow! We had red squirrels in the kitchen ceiling where first bought our house. Previous owner had many bird feeders, all that seed was stored in our kitchen ceiling…. 😀 Eric
