Wow. I've had mine since Saturday. Certain little things about it continue to amaze me. It's easily the best /easiest headset to eat in, while still being able to consume content as well. What's funny is that I did just that last night. While cleaning up I had moved a screen over my kitchen sink (about a 55 in TV LOL) while I went around cleaning up after cooking. What really got me about that was the audio. If I had my back turned to it, the sound truly came from behind me, If I was on the other side of the room, the sound still came from "where" I placed the screen. It's hard to put into words what that was like, but to have that "just happen", as not an advertised feature or anything, just shows how much attention to detail was paid. I could talk all night about subtle things like that. But it is also, by FAR, the best work monitor I have ever used. And I do graphic design for a living. It was actually a huge step back in clarity, color, and just presence, when I had to take it off to work on my lowly "4k Monitor". It just rocks. I can't wait until the add multiple monitor support. (If that's possible at that resolution). The good news is that most things I use my secondary monitors for are available in standalone apps or their equivalent. MS Teams, Word, and Outlook all have native apps that can be windowed anywhere you want them. ALSO. There are ipad/iphone versions of Edge and Firefox for different browser options. (although I'm having trouble making certain extensions work). But the key take away is. Even in it's present form I can create a "better than live" work experience. Still a few bugs to work out and different muscle memories to train, but I'm amazed that it's only going to get better. The original iPhone was a "miracle" at it's launch time, but in only a few short generations it became so much more than it's original use case. I expect the same thing to happen here. I'll look back at this in 3-4 years and be AMAZED that I was so impressed with this bulky "generation 1" tech. I know faster, better cheaper is right around the virtual corner, but I think I have at least a solid year of being a pioneer on one of the last digital frontiers. I was really looking forward to your reaction as it really mirrored mine. I've been a constant watcher since day one, but can count the times I've commented on one hand. (So indulge this small novel please) Ans I look forward to you showing/discovering some of the other aspects of this device that are kind of cool and amazing. (like when you anchor a window, it STAYS anchored.) It's like I'm dropping a slew of 4k TV's all over my house. LOL Great vid. Great times. Looking forward to more. The following phrase is really overused but this is one time that it's really appropriate. It's a game changer. Be well.

I had a "XR has finally arrived" moment when I demoed this device yesterday. It really feels like a leap forward. It's the OS that impressed me the most. The ability to place media anywhere in space seemingly without limit. The combination of gaze and hand controls should make the accidental interactions much less likely. I think Apple is on the right path.

@@toututu2993 this really is the part I struggle with though. I mean, what part of a tablet usecase is going to be enhanced through VR/MR? I love VR for fitness and immersive gaming, but the activities I use a tablet for, PDF browsing, KZfaq, checking my finances, browsing apps etc, I just have no desire to do any of that in VR/MR, I'm not sure how tablet use cases are improved? It feels like cool tech without a real use case right now. Maybe I just lack imagination, as up to now I've only seen VR's potential in terms of games, fitness, flight simming and watching movies. I’m mostly impressed by what I’ve heard so far. All this makes me wonder if we’re getting a do over of the Home Computer Wars of the ‘90s-‘00s, when the main philosophy was split between PC/Microsoft and Mac(Apple). Today, is XR going to be once again split between XR/Meta and Spatial Computing/Apple philosophies? If so, that might not necessarily be a bad thing.

@mitchell10394

People aren't giving an exact FOV because the different face interfaces increase and decrease your distance from the lenses - which affects the FOV. With my interface and everything. -it feels about the same as the quest 3 - but with a slightly smaller vertical FOV. Others compare it to slightly less than a Quest 2 with the thicker facial interfaces. It sort of depends. I'm sure someone will make a good breakdown of this at some point.

The environments are really great! They’re nearly photorealistic and also have spatial sound effects like wind, birds, and frogs. FaceTime participants’ voices reverberate differently when you go into the Environments, e.g. deadened in the woods or echoing off rocks. You can view any windowed app inside of them but iTunes/AppleTV content gets a special viewing mode where the movie expands, floats way out beyond your reach and locks into place, and shines color photorealistically on the water, snow, clouds, or rocks. It’s the best movie watching experience available IMO. I would say the illusion is only broken a bit by lens glare (which shows up when viewing bright content in a dark environment) and the somewhat narrow field of view. Otherwise they are quite transportive and conducive to focus.

I have heard AVP exhibits smearing during motion due to the OLED panel. I'd like to know how noticeable is this issue? Do all OLED headsets such as Bigscreen Beyond have this issue, or does it only happen when this type of panel is combined with foveated rendering or other technologies?

I tried one, and the hype is real. I can't believe the people who say the Quest 3 even compares to this. Watching a movie on this thing is incredible. Actually better than my 65 OLED. You have what is a 120hz type of motion along with OLED picture moving about. Butter smooth. The blacks, unbelievable! This is light years ahead of anything else. Comparing a Quest 3 to this is like comparing a 720p 60hz display to a 4K OLED with 120hz. It's that good. This is the one for movies. Anything else is garbage, now that I seen it... 3500, actually more like $4300 though.... still thinking!

Your missing the point, it's a quest 3 with better screens and cameras. This thing and what it is doing has been around for years just nobody walks round like it's the change of the world. Spacial computing has been a thing since vr started the only difference here is apple runs iOS which is there op system where as quest is there own but android. The fact oculus is why apple is even here to this day making this thing. The point is oculus can drop the quality I stantly if they wanted too but they have never ever done that, they have always dropped back a little to bring the tech and what it can do to the masses. Hence everything bar probably 5 or 10 because it's not iOS or can do just on a lower quality. Films big screen no problem, films in 3d no problem 200 inch cinema screen no problem. Multi any source spacial computing no problem and is probably better can do anything with that. Most of this is just the apple fan boy and marketing to hide the special word apple uses to fool everyone. Yes it's better quality because it has better quality screens and lenses and cameras. This thing is running on a low fov back from 2012 when oculus was starting up. The problem is we are all used to 105 to 180fov. It easy to get clarity with low fov these days. I would be impressed if they can do the same when they are hitting the pretty much standard goal in this day and age of 150 fov. Now if the quest 3 was with the better cameras and the better screen ect . And was them put against the avp you will see how much this is nothing as a device to what's already out there and what it's doing. The only difference it's now the apple cult trying to make the voice where we in vr have been laughing at this moment for years. Your all wetting yourself at it. To me they have a defo got better clarity which is and has been part of the incremental upgrades the other companies are in to make money. They ain't dropping the latest they are a few steps behind what they really have they could drop. Apple.is not on this increment and is probably why it's been delayed so many time trying to jump in with that latest screen because the other increment. Oculus is about keeping prices low building a platform to grow with it's massive on the scheme of things it's not even focused solely on spacial computing either because they don't have a computer system to link too. But they do d everything qvp does pretty much. The chasw for vr has always been clarity, fov, this gets sooo much harder the bigger you go with fov. You cannot compare a 95fov to something that holding amazing clarity like a vajero or pimax crystal at 150 fov areas. The quest is more of a middle ground to make things affordable. Is the apple better yes in clarity that's it stick this on any headset they will be on 110 plus fov and will match the calirty but the headsets would be 1500 and for oculus they would not want that unless it's a tester unit for developers like the pro was. This thing apple has made is a full copy of the quest and what it had been doing for year and vr, it's nowt special like your all going on about it's better quality parts used to which the rest can do but they can't because they don't have apple cult getting brain washed all the time by silly words to hide facts it's a quest 3 or should I say quest 4. Most know dam well if the quest had better cameras and screens they would have nowt to talk about with the vision pro 🤣 It's locked down junk but could have been a high end vr device for playing games as well with a real computer. All this is to most is a iOS device so you can do thing the rest of the world been doing for year just don't go round like idiots trying make out they didn't get ripped and someone else has never done it all before. It's just funny.

I mean, I don't know who would say that the Quest3 compares. But price has to be taken into account. This is best that money can get, so comparing the two products is a bit of a moot point. Obviously the tech still need to get better (in the case of the Quest3, a lot better than it is, and in the case of the VIsionPro, it really needs to get smaller and way lighter/comfortable than it is), and the price needs to go down... like ipadPro/macbookAir prices down imo

You could work in it, but I imagine a laptop with or without trackball would still be more comfortable. Using iPadOS is ok, but slows me down compared to MacOS or Linux. For reading or virtual board games playing in the bathtub, in bed or on the bus or train it would be much better. An immersive Bigscreen-like social gathering or meetup app would be a killer app probably worth the 3500 dollar as you bridge distances. I can already do that with the Quest3 but it's less comfortable. It's a bit similar as the difference between using Android and iOS. It was nice to see Synthriders, when of my favorite VR apps.

We fondly remember this game as one of the earliest truly fun VR games from the Oculus Rift days, but it is still great. The only reason it even works on the AVP is that you "head-butt" the "balls". We are curious about whether the game's motion works with the AVP's motion blur/ latency limitations.

@acslater017
@acslater017 4 ай бұрын
The passthrough is very good - possibly the best ever- but far from natural eyesight. There’s slight fuzziness in bright environments, but almost zero of the distortion or warping you see on Quest. There is noticeable noise in dark environments and it will lose tracking if it’s completely dark. Its exposure is actually fairly muted and dim compared to Quest 3, but the benefit is that it’s balanced and does not overexpose. I looked out the window at noon on a sunny day and the blue sky is perfectly exposed. Even looking toward the sun, the clouds and sky around the sun are still properly exposed. And quickly glancing back indoors, it only take about half a second to adjust. I’d say the display is perfect, but the passthrough cameras could still be improved next generation. Digital mixed reality content is perfectly sharp; it’s just the real world environment that looks lower quality by comparison. I’d like an adjustment Setting or a software update to make indoor passthrough appear brighter and more punchy (also, make sure to turn off auto-dimming on Photos and movies).

@@rickaron7593 For higher FOV you need to make it wider as your eyes would have to see the screen in front & there is a limit on what the lenses can do to a screen in front. So unless you go with a Pimax approach & have a ridiculous block in front of your face then the FOV isn't going to be there. After all Apple are marketing this as a AR headset really, it is VR but the passthrough is what they are pushing & want the environment to be seen via the cameras. The next step would be to have clear view & then the FOV won't matter because what you see in front will just be via your eyes & the FOV via the overlay screens will just blend in to what you already see.

I love your videos Seb, I'm a big fan. But I do find it a bit funny that you make the mistake of comparing a 500$ headset (the quest 3) with a 3500$ R'nD product. I definitely will buy one (I"m a developer), but I don't think this is a consumer product, by a long shot. When you say, "perfect for beginner" for instance... I don't think I would suggest to a beginner to buy a 3500 gadget, that can currently only play movies. One of the few really cool things you can do with the apple pro right now is using it as virtual monitor for a macbook, but even there, most other reviewers pointed out how it gets uncomfortable after hours of work... and for some reason you are the only one that, after only one hour of use, stated that comfort is ok. I get the excitement of trying something like this for the first time, it must feel amazing, but I will check back once you have a more cool headed opinion, after you'll have spent more time with it, and will make a review video.

Thanks for the review. It is obviously a "tech geek" based first and mainly emotional review, not more not less. And as expected, Apple did a fantastic job on hardware and software. Now, Apple is not targeting the usual VR / MR crowd like Meta with the Quest 3. Apple claims to revolutionize the spatial computing field. For that, all that you reviewed, the great HW / SW as such, is just the very basics. The big question to answer, in order to check on Apple's claim, would now be whether people, not being VR / MR geeks, will be willing to wear this for hours every day and if those people are given something that they can do better than with current means of standard computers, mobile devices and other kind of headsets. I am pretty sure that the Vision Pro is fantastic but that it cannot fulfill the claim of allowing reasonable spatial computing in the average's person daily business or private life. For that, such a headset does not only need to become much cheaper but much lighter, smaller, generally looking like the average standard glasses people wear. And, the need to hook it up to a big battery via cable needs to go away. All this is technologically not possible yet and it will take quite some time to get there. Not Apple's fault at all, they did the best that was possible with existing technology. But the era of spatial computing is not yet here with the Vision Pro.

I'm much more interested in PC VR gaming, so I have little interest in an Apple Vision Pro. Of course, the specs and UX excite me just as much has anyone. But the use case is zero for me. I wouldn't watch movies in any headset that weighs more than 200g, Xreal has the correct weight at 72g, but of course that's small FoV and only 1080p. So atm Visor is the best for that. For productivity, again. wouldn't want to use a 600g+ large VR headset for productivity, I'd rather use my 50" 4K mini-led monitor. I also don't travel much, so I don't need it for that reason. Noteworthy is that despite the quality of the specs, the FoV seems pretty subpar relatively speaking. Lower than Quest 3? Wow, not great. Overall it looks like an amazing headset for tech enthusiasts who want to experience the next gen of mixed reality in these specific ways, as well as loyal Apple fans who want the latest Apple innovation. The consumer focused high end mixed reality headsets are incoming. Visor being the first, with a form factor light years ahead, and perhaps Samsung's next headset will be a good cheaper AVP alternative as well. Signals what the near future holds in terms of the level of quality of mixed reality . Exciting times. Looking forward to your impressions.

I think the real difference that is worth bringing up is that the UX ikely won't be as slick as AVP. AVP *might* feel better to use in terms of the UI, and it won't have all the bells and whistles, all the extra cool stuff that AVP has, but that's what you pay $3500 for. I’ve been using VR headsets since 2014 and it blows my mind. I’ve been taking spatial videos since December. I dialed in the Haleakala Environment and viewed my photo library and it was literally Iike heaven 😂 My life’s memories were floating in the air 80 feet wide, playing in 3D and immersive Spatial Audio, as I stood on a mountaintop above the clouds. Yes, other headsets might enable to you to “look at photos in VR”. But when you add the increased screen resolution, Spatial Audio fidelity, photorealistic natural environments, and Apple ecosystem benefits, you get a wholly different experience.

Hello Sebastian! I believe the personas doesn't rely entirely on face tracking, instead it projects a video feed from your mouth to a reconstructed mesh of your face (photo scan), just like Rockstar's LA Noire game. That is why your mouth and tongue reacts so true to life. There's a notice artifact when you occlude the cameras as well. Can you please check that? Thank you!

Thank you for the review . I hope apple increase fov in next gen and most important thing is developers start to making many useful apps and games for VR and especially AR . Definitely this gen is for developers . $3500 is even expensive for rich people . But i believe in apple which they knows the selling strategy .

Its definitely a nice piece of tech but its kind of annoying that it will have the same type of tech demo content nearly a decade after the birth of good vr
