To the people who think it "undignified" to have Rita in the Wedding instead of the mom. Why would anyone choose a demonic mother of the angel of a woman who has been a great addition to your family? Sure Rita doesn't want to be the maternal figure but she's the one who has been there to foster growth and happiness whereas the mother lyched that all out of her family.

Rita is the maternal figure, marriage isn't required for that. If she's caring and loving to the kids, and stays by the dad's side, then married or not, she's the maternal figure of the family. the egg donor who seriously accuses her young daughter of wanting to steal her own father from her mother is decidedly not a maternal figure in any sense of the word.

The problem here is this. It shows many thing about that ex. First, she is actively trying to push op brother Sam into her own value, which guarantee a half-Karen, entitled and cruel just like the mother. And Sam pretty much saw the mother in his ex at that moment. Second, it was a way to say that she can bring the person Sam hated the most in, means she controls Sam. So they didn't put up with that bullshit.

My question to people like that is, You know terrible people have kids, right? Rapists murderers, serial killers, etc. So why do you think that you know better than someone else's lived experience? Are you so self absorbed that you think your opinion is more valid than someone's experience? Also, you believed a woman you knew for 15 minutes over your fiance and his entire family? Monsters can wear masks, my dear. That's how they are able to obtain their victims. Life isn't a Disney movie. Polite and smiling people can and do horrific things. Men who are chill about period stuff are amazing. I know there are plenty of people who will say that that should be the bare minimum (and I agree, but stigma still exists across the world), but whenever I see guys who are chill and helpful rather than all icked out about periods, I'm just so happy to see it! It's like you said, positive masculinity! Funny story: I have multiple cousins who are all at least a decade younger than me (the youngest is 20 yrs younger than me) and one cousin spends a fair amount of time at my place (his mom isn't in the picture, so it's just him and his dad. Whenever he's over, I get to play cool auntie/cousin 😂😎). One time we were playing video games and he found some tampons that had fallen out of one of my bags and asked what they were. I explained (in an age appropriate way) and it was so sweet because he immediately was like "oh, I'll make sure to have these ready for my friends that are girls when I'm older!". Warmed my heart!

@khaleesireyna7314 ай бұрын
As someone who has been no contact with both parents due to narcissism, it never ceases to amaze me how often people who DO NOT GET IT will bend over backwards to try and rationalize away your experiences and say you need your family. I've just accepted that those people belong in one of two categories: 1) their own families are toxic, and they're DEEP in the "family first" fog. Been there, done thar, got the crappy t-shirt. It's not worth it. Or 2) they had a genuinely good experience with an overall healthy family dynamic, and sadly, they lack the ability to comprehend that their experiences are not the universal experiences. I can't MAKE them get it, so I just hold firm on my boundaries with it and if anyone pushes me, I show them the door.

I hate how people with parents that are physically abusive, mentally abusive, or even both have to jump through hoops to be heard. My biological ‘father’ is a lot like the mother from hell in this story. Only showing their true face to their spouse and kids. To everyone else it’s crocodile tears and “woe is me” stories that NEVER happened. It especially hurts when people you trusted hear your abusers “side of the story” and choose to believe them over you. In a way it’s a good thing because it shows you they never really cared for you and your well-being so you might as well as cut them out of your life altogether… but it still hurts...

But luckily I cursed him out and told him he cried about people not talking about his dumb dad. So unless you want to get beat up, don't mention mine.
@khaleesireyna7312 ай бұрын
Absolutely agree! I recently got in touch with one of my uncles and we talked a bit about my cutting off my family/my abusive father and the fact that HE BELIEVED ME was such a weight off my shoulders. It really is difficult, because not only are you painfully aware that your parent(s)/family were such trash that you had to go no contact for your own well being (and therefore, you don't have much in terms of family), but there are so many times where you have to defend and argue your own experiences because people who never lived ONE DAY in that crap come in with the "it couldn't have been THAT bad". The one positive there is that it's given me even more appreciation for the people who DO believe me/support me. Those people are the real ones!

It’s crazy that some people think ALL families are universally the same and their experiences with their family can be compared to others. Any marriage that starts with your partner going behind your back or ignoring your concerns about a family member you have no contact with is bound to end in disaster. The Ex-Sil’s claim that Sam should reconcile with is mother was WILD. The whole point of the no contact was because all the other times he and his siblings tried to reconcile, it failed because the mother was a peace of shit…. (I have family members like this and they always tell me to make up with the person I have no contact with and it just pisses me off.)

His ex doesn't value family, she values the idealized ideal of a family, which is not possible because every family has problems and sometimes they are so bad that they can't be fixed. OP's mother certainly is one of those who don't want to be fixed because they honestly believe that they are victims and there forth deserve good treatment. But that's not how life works. The mother cheated and that was wrong. The mother wasn't nice to her children and that was wrong. Yet in her mind, they weren't because to her that's how things are supposed to be: a benefit to herself only. It's the same with the ex and her family. Only they benefit from this idea that anything can be fix because you're "family," and cannot accept that OP's brother has proven them wrong. Now they have a problem that can't be fixed to their benefit. People like this love to play games like this and can't stand to lose. Best to beat them at their game and leave them behind forever.

I call those wench egg&womb-donor. The term mother should only reserved to those worthy of the respect. Blood related or not.

Its makes perfect sense that Daniela invited the mother, they very much appear to be cut from the same cloth!

I, too, was raised by a textbook malignant narcissist. How this family is acting is completely normal and justified. Their mother was spawned by the devil and the only proper course of action is to keep her completely excised from their lives. Shout out to brother Joe for handling the wedding situation and for the best clap back I have heard in a long time. The man is a fearless warrior. I envy them their closeness, love, and loyalty to each other.

I think the OP and her family are from the same country as I due to the mother language and how adoptions work. -- Soo happy everything is going well for them, they deserve it

Damn, I can 100 % emphasize with the first story. Having a horrible abusive excuse of a so-called "mother" making pretty much your entire childhood absolutely and completely miserable is bad enough, but when she's also an absolute master at manipulation and can convince pretty much everyone that she's a very nice and friendly person and people who dislike her are just bad people, it gets so much worse, cause you can't even really talk to anyone about it, except for people who know her as much as you do and have seen what a horrible person she is when she drops the nice-person-mask. I would 100 % have done the same if my wife had invited my "mother" to our wedding. Also, lmfao, "she has cancer" can relate 100 % on that one as well. Same with my "mother". Allegedly, according to herself, she had all sorts of things. Brain tumor, breast cancer, leukemia, bunch of other stuff too, all very severe and often incurable or deadly diseases. Somehow, though, all her supposed illnesses kept just getting better and going away eventually, despite her never recieving any sort of medical treatment for any of them. Top kek.

Unfortunately when you have to talk about an abusive family you have to accept that a lot of people just won't believe you, and others will go as far as to blame you. Those people should not be allowed into your inner circle. They did the right thing by getting far away from the fiancee.

Props to that family for their teamwork in bad situations. Hopefully they all have a wonderful life without anymore mother appearing like a witch in the woods. And hopefully if the brother get's married he makes it to the alter without any bad surprises.

I’m so sorry you guys had to go through that! I’m so sorry your mother was so vicious and toxic. It’s great that you guys were able to build such a beautiful bond. I’m glad Daniella didn’t get the chance to be the mother of Sam’s children. That’s great

Yeah she had it coming. Sam opened his heart about his horrible mother and she betrayed his trust. And as harsh as this may sound, but it’s good that she did that. So he found out before making a mistake

For those saying that the OP lacked/lacks feminine influence in her life because she is no contact with her mom. It sounds like her dad was a perfect feminist influence himself . Telling her fiancé that her hand wasn’t his to give, perfect! We need to start normalizing that fathers can be great single parents too, and some women simply aren’t cut out to be moms. Daniela was obviously buying to the picture perfect family image that society likes. It’s toxic because that mentality makes family members forgive the unforgivable.

I've heard this story a few times from various youtubers but the sheer amount of "f*ck around and find out" energy coming at Daniela is legendary. Like, this idiot was told NUMEROUS times that nmom was toxic and she was rightly cut off. As someone who had to cut off both parents for my safety, security and sanity (huge abusive narcissists who would probably get along pretty well with "the cult family's" mom), I'd pull a Julia Roberts and run tf away if anyone brought them anywhere near me. Daniela at least deserves silver in mental gymnastics and gold in "make myself a victim" events in the narc olympics. She played herself and she still thinks she's the victim... yeah, brother dodged a nuke.

imagine being more worried about a woman growing up without "feminine figures" than about separating a child from an abusive and psychotic mother who viewed her own daughter as competition for her husband because he refused to neglect her for being born female what sane person would choose teaching their kid how to "girl" - which isn't even a fucking thing - over keeping them safe and making sure they feel loved. that's messed up. if a parent is mistreating their child, it doesn't matter what sex they are, you protect that kid and let the nicer parent raise them. shouldn't even need to be friggin said.

The way the Ex was speaking about the mom and about what she thought Sam would do to her? I think she might have a guilty conscience. Sounds a lot like Ex saw herself in the mother, 'playing nice' to get married and all, and wanted to try to 'fix' Sam so she could get away woth walking all over him just like the mom tried with the dad.
