They could also make translucent colors of the current switch lites. Like yellow, pink and blue. So the solid color could work well with the translucent color.

I love the atomic purple see-through look. I had an atomic gbc back in the day. I haven't gotten a lite yet, I'm not crazy on the matt color options. I'm not down for doing these steps myself, but if Nintendo released an Atomic purple switch lite in stores, then I'd have a hard time not adding one to cart.

I love the nostalgic feel of atomic purple, but the black looks really good and i love how it looks like one solid unit rather than a shell!

I've been thinking about getting this brand's smoke black joy-con casing for awhile but keep hesitating wondering "does it really look that different from the standard clear?" Here I can tell that yes, it is different. Combined with the lighting, it almost looks like a dark metallic gray at some angles. Very cool.

Looks great, but NOPE! I draw the line at heat gun, replacing tape and fear that i will get dust between the screen and digitizer.

Ifixit has a great tool kit. I use theirs when I did my reshell. I also used their anti static organizer to keep my screws together. Not sponsored but their stuff works and it’s also magnetic so the screws don’t get lost (because they are tiny!)

Upon further reflection, couldn't you use the OG grey shell backing, with the smoke clear top? Since the back doesn't have much to see anyway, couldn't you just use the Nintendo back piece, as then it would accent the bezel and clear grey shell on the front? Then having the official backing piece would make it look even more official.

I'm not certain I'd be ambitious enough for this but I have to say that purple does look really, REALLY nice.

i reshelled the switch without taking off the digitizer. i just kept my yellow boarder on my new purple shell. its cool

My full size Switch is reshelled with a Smoked Black Transparent shell (joycons and system) and I absolutely love that look. Looks nice and clean. :D

I have a grey switch lite so and thinking of doing the smokey grey shell so I feel like the bezel won’t be as big a deal for me.

I think the black on the screen bezel looks okay with the purple, but would probably look better in white to match the buttons/sticks (or if you wanted the opposite and got black buttons/sticks)

You should do tests to see how necessary that rear metal shield is... aka do temp test on regular switch and lite with and without the metal shield... cause if it doesnt make a meaningful difference it might be worth it to not out the shield on for a transparent case so you could see more of those pretty insides

I would probably only do a shell swap in the event of my screen breaking to be honest. Like if you cracked your screen you could just buy the LCD and digitizer in the color you want then fit that to the new shell and swap your other parts over. Would make more sense for me than potentially damaging the screen while removing it from the old shell.

love how these look I just hate that the back panel has that silver plate that looks so dull... maybe adding a vinyl decal with the switch logo would be great or a themed one.

I had the purple Gameboy color as a kid - I want to do this so bad!

I'm planning to get the all clear shell, and keeping all my yellow components within the unit(the grey parts as well), so that way I can just keep the bezel already in place. I actually like the yellow color on it's own, so I figured those accents will make it unique to other units that may do this same case mod. I've done several of these to my DS Lite and PSP back in the day, and nothing was ever to hard, but you do need to be organized and take your time, and you should be OK!

So what did to my switch lite gray is that i bought the ifixit tool and the dark clear case from the same company. i am a little bit uncomfortable with removing the entire switch just for the case and knowing the current situation. I decided to only replace the back case of the switch. So before putting my dark clear case on i added a decal sticker on the Metal shield it look super cool im glad that i went with it. As for the front i ended up using a really cool dark decal from Dbrand with their big option for tempered glass it match really well with the gray bezel. The one downside i have for these clear cases that the SD and Game card slots aren't that great with their quality being really cheap and so i wanted to keep all the original parts from my switch for these slots however the original game card plastic piece does not match the clear case, the case is slightly bigger for the plastic piece to go in. I have heard that not all clear case are the same side so i was lucky that i can screw the back clear case on to my original front case

Just buy a grey digitizer it you have another switch lite colour. They're pretty inexpensive, 10 Bucks I believe
