This is actually really useful. Everyone talking about a house fire seems to be ignoring the fact that you can both turn it off, and remove it.

But I think the Anti-smoke detector should have a small beep as long as it's put there so even if you forget to take it off someone will hear when they walk past it and hopefully remove it.

When I read “anti-smoke detector” I expected something that wouldn’t stop beeping unless it detected smoke.

This will actually still work if there's an actual fire, because the smoke will be much thicker and the fan won't be able to blow all of the smoke away.

This wouldn’t be necessary considering kitchens are supposed to have HEAT detectors which only detect from the heat of a fire not smoke ones

The real genius part of this is that it's battery powered, so if you forget it's there, the battery will just die and the smoke detector will resume normal operation.

This is actually pretty useful. Those fire detectors can really make someone's head hurt and I doubt the fan could fan off thick smoke from actual fire

I actually think this can be turned into a somewhat good product. Imagine this same thing but the fan is built to only turn on for 0-30 mins (Can be adjusted) and then it shuts off by itself. It allows you ample time to cook your food and if people forget to turn it off then the fan will automatically turn off in a short time period.

There is a smoke detector called the AD365. It not only monitors smoke condition it also monitors heat (also an indication of fire) and has an IR light to detect flame. This could only blow away the smoke, if the AD365 detects the other two to a certain extent it would still activate.

That’s not really unnecessary it’s actually very helpful in certain situation’s.

this invention is not unnecessary, rather it's a very helpful device for households, office buildings where there're lots of electrical devices turned on.

As someone who has a fire alarm that reacts to the smallest amount of smoke this would be good

I actually worked on building this for a guy who had patented this. To be fair, his idea included a timer so that the fan would only run for five minutes or so. There was a wireless remote to trigger the fan and timer. Basically, it was a temporary mute for a smoke alarm. But I just use a broom handle to knock the smoke alarm off the ceiling.

My sister who is 5 years older than me has almost burnt down our house twice before... One day at 6 in the morning she was making soup (also the house were were in at the time was a rental because my dad was military at the time) and we had a gas stove.... at one point while my sister was making the soup she spilt a small bit on the stove... she noticed and decided to clean up the spilt soup.... with a paper towel... while the stove was still on.... who would've guessed that the paper towel would catch on fire?! And to add to that my sister then threw the paper towel that was on fire onto the WOOD FLOOR of the house we did NOT OWN... then she picked up a glass from the counter that had water in it and threw the whole glass on the floor... when my mom came into the kitchen hearing glass shattering... she saw a burn mark on the wood flooring and water and glass everywhere... (my sister didn't get cut by the glass) Another time (this happened a month ago my sister is 19) we were getting food ready for Thanksgiving.... my sister was in charge of the cake... she filled the pan for the cake all the way to the top with batter like an idiot... about 20 minutes into it cooking I smell smoke and tell my mom... not a minute later the fire alarm goes off and my sister and I look into the oven... THERE WAS AN ACTUAL FIRE IN THE OVEN... we were about to stop the fire bit it just proves that my sister shouldn't be allowed in the kitchen... Another time when we lived in our rental house my sister wanted to make a giant cookie icecram cake... two ginormous cookies with and entire tub of icecram in the middle... all was going well until my sister took the cookies out of the oven and decided she didn't want to wait until the cookie cooled before she put the icecream on it... she put the icecream in the middle then put the whole thing in the FRIDGE 10 minutes later my mom asked her if the cookie was done cooking... and my sister said it was already put together ... my mom went to the kitchen concerned my sister didn't let the cookie cool, and saw icecream POURING ALL OVER THE FLOOR LEAKING FROM THE FRIDGE... And my sister is the one who is going to be making my birthday cake next week 🤦‍♀️

I think this is highly useful, as long as you remember to take it off after you're done destroying your kitchen while learning a new recipe

Photoelectric smoke alarms are less likely to activate from things like burnt toast. If you're cooking something on the stove and it's producing alot of smoke it might be worth turning the heat down.

smoke deflector 2.0 - attach on a ceiling mount with 4 magnets (like in the video) and have a small bowl with 4 more magnets and some cuts for the magnets so it fills in the gaps

you know, replacing it with a photoelectric smoke alarm would've been much handier. it will rarely ever go off from cooking from something. dust won't trigger it either.

A great device for kitchens in universities and trade schools where students are going to inevitably burn stuff every now and then during the fast paced classes! Pretty much otherwise a bit of bunt toast that does not actually start a fire could set off the fire alarm for the whole building which will trigger a full evacuation of the building or possibly the campus while also automatically making a costly call to the local fire department!

This is genuinely useful. Just slap this on the smoke alarm while you're cooking and actively there to see a fire if there is one, and boom, the fire alarm is no longer annoying. It's also good for people like me who get overstimulated easily. The fire alarm beeping really loudly can cause me to freak out.

A better option: a heat alarm. Instead of smoke triggering it, sustained heat caused by a fire does, that way you don't need to defeat your fire detection system and potentially forget about it.
