That look on Ray Milland's face when he realized where Columbo found that third bullet. Perfect acting.

This is one of my favorite episodes because the good lieutenant REALLY drove the murderer batsh’t crazy

I like how Columbo stalls for time while simultaneously annoying the suspect. The look on Milland's face is the same look when he was caught 15 years earlier in Dial M For Murder.

One of the better "Gotcha" moments of the series.

He might have gotten away with it if he hadn't filed that police report a year previously about firing at an intruder but only hitting dirt. Columbo dug up that file as part of his investigation and took the chance that by using a metal detector he might find one of those bullets in the dirt, to compare with the bullet that killed the victim to see if they matched.

"Columbo! Are you the one who's been eating my raspberries?!"

I like how all those cops just coming in and out of the house like they live there. 😂

Ray Milland is another actor you'll never find d or see in movies or TV ever again he has that incredible gift at playing villains so well

I like how, even though he was telling the Sgt he was wrong, Columbo still praises him and his methods. A lessor show would have had a cheap laugh at the Sgt's expense to make the star look good.

I like how gentle, comforting and calm Columbo is when he is confronting an innocent suspect and be at the same time grinding away the killer. In one episode he even said to a suspect that it was impossible for him to be the murderer even when everything looks otherwise and tells him why it is impossible to calm him

This is what Ray looked like when he was in the movie The Thing With Two Heads.

Of course after several rewatches new things get noticed. I never realized before that Columbo justifies the dirt on the ground by saying he accidentally knocked the planter over. He just diffuses any initial suspicion that he was up to something until he wants to reveal what he had. If the report was not a match that would have been the end of it. Since it was a match, he explained what he was actually doing. I just glossed over it before watching Milland enter and process that Columbo was there at all.

Columbo is relentless. I’m not sure of which “dog breed” he is but once he gets his teeth in you, he doesn’t let go!

It's a nice detail how Columbo really does his best to annoy the murderer with meandering speeches, yet when the lady shows up, he's very considerate and tries to make her somewhat comfortable.

Forgot that old man was in this episode, knew that he was in the other about his murdered wife.

The curious thing about this episode is that none of the characters are likable. They usually make the killer or one of the side characters at least sympathetic.. Stil a great episode though.

The sergeant even messed up reading him his rights which means anything said by him can’t be used later in court.

So if the lady was wrongfully charged and Columbo proved she was innocent, can she sue the police department for it?

What sinks all these murderers in Columbo is their lack of excellent explanations. If they paid as much attention after their crime as before, many would get away with it. PS: I know it's staged.

They went for 60 minutes but they had to condense them to under 10 minutes by taking out unnecessary and repetitive content because the old TVs couldn’t hold anything over 10 minutes. The mondo Columbus shows are very short always less than 10 minutes because of the primitive mondo TVs they had back then. The old old old TVs could not hold more than 10 minutes of show as they used CRT Catholic Ray Tubs technology and non Dylan Mulvaney CLT or Claw Technology. No harm no fowl. They tried Dylan Mulvaney to shorten the shows advertising and tried to produce a non racist TV set with Motorola involvement with flypaper control and Dylan Mulvaney CEO. Transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney abandoned by Bud Lights and faced too much bullying and transphobia. The proof is in the pudding. It’s all part of the non racist discovering process
