Moreover, is not reasonable to confine the world of classic car owners to mechanics with the skills, tools, and physical conditioning needed to maintain them, especially with antique exotics like this. Although it’s an expensive and rare car, it’s still just a car. And at the end of the day these older cars are pretty simple. It really comes down to a lot of people with a lot of money only buying from people who cater to other people with a lot of money (“EVERYONE with a vintage Lambo uses them”). I’ve known some very, very wealthy people (far wealthier than Doug) and THIS is how they ALL operate. Companies like Evans are in the club and they milk it (as I would if I were them).

$2k for a valve adjustment. Exotic or not, this isn't a complicated engine, it's spacers, rocker arms, and camshafts. It's probably less than a 2 hour job. Rebuilding 6 carbs for $2k? It's a $30 gasket kit and an hour of labor. Even granted that there's 6 of them, that's egregious. On that note - $400 for 12 new carburetor jets? Jets for Weber DCOE's run about $7 each and take probably 1 minute to swap each out, AND YOU'RE ALREADY BILLING FOR THE CARB REBUILD. They are ripping you off there. 12 spark plug - again, probably $5 a pop and a minute to change each since they are so easily accessible. $4k for a new muffler because it has "some rust" on it. It's called rust neutralizer then reseal... How quickly is rust going to advance on a car that basically never gets wet? I get wanting replacement parts while you can get them though, so fair enough I guess. $800 for transmission mounts? They already has the engine out. It's a very very straightforward job with the engines and transmission out of the way, and the parts are probably a couple hundred bucks. Why would they need replaced anyway? There is really good money to be made being a mechanic to the wealthy! I do get that there is value is being able to state "car was serviced by _____, a respected expert" though. It adds value when selling down the road. Still though, yikes, just yikes...
