Actually in Europe you don't need Passport to travel between countries,just your ID card is fine... it's called the Schengen Agreement. There no borders control if you're traveling either by car, train or plane. Only countries that require passport is Ireland and the UK. Even Switzerland it's not an EU member and it's in this agreement.

The Schengen Zone was established on the 26th of March 1995. This movie came out in 2004. You don't need a Passport to go from Germany to Italy.

Came here to post this. You can travel between Schengen countries, which is most of Europe these days. But back in 2004 they shouldn't have been able to enter Slovakia without passports or go from Slovakia to Germany. Slovakia only joined Schengen in 2007. But Germany to Italy, sure.

Passports are actually not required for most border crossings within Schengen Area (most of EU+EEA). An exception would be plane travel, where they do still check your passport/ID-card. You are supposed to have a passport/ID-card with you when walking/driving/railing across Europe, but it is normally never checked unless you try to get on a plane.

Actually Mary, I lived in Germany in the 80’s as an American teenager. I travelled all over Europe. They really were called youth hostels by everyone, even if it was an unofficial title. That is actually Vinnie Jones’ accent.

I believe there are no passport check ups when you're travelling within Schengen area (29 European countries). You still need to provide an ID if you're asked one but there's no border check ups etc. If travelling by plane then you need to provide a passport or an ID card.

The European Union used to have open borders between countries back in the day. The EU was supposed to basically rival the USA in that manner. I think I used my passport twice my entire trip through Europe after high school. Once at the Airport in Germany, and then Once again When We took a detour through Enland, because England was always EU adjacent lmao

He is the radio station operator in episode 7 that Thaddeus is talking to while waiting for the Brotherhood to pick him up. In the Schengen area they wouldn't need a passport to go across 20+ different European countries, including going from Berlin, Germany to Rome, Italy... I think only Bratislava (Slovakia) would require a passport at the time as it wasn't in Schengen area aggreement yet (it got in in 2007).

"Youth Hostels" exist all over the world, including Australia but normally need a membership. Some are just like normal hostels. In Britain at least they are a little different and are usually associated with youth groups like Scouts, Guides, etc and are located in areas known for outdoor activities like hiking, camping and so on. Like normal hostels they often have have facilities like kitchens and you can book the entire building for exclusive use if your group is large enough

Fun Fact: The Hitler child part was cut from the German version of the movie. Since this was kind of before youtube my friends group only knew about it because the dvd rip we got at a lan party had it inserted with German subtitles. Good times.

This is definitely one of the most underrated comedies of all time. The Matt Damon cameo is the gold standard of all cameos in film history. Which is really saying something considering how many great cameos are in the movie.

I super enjoyed this movie back in the day when it first came out! I remember watching this for the first time with my best friend Branden. xD It was hilarious! So many laughs throughout the movie. :) Really happy that you enjoyed it as well, despite it being an older one, now. :D

I Remember First Watching The Movie Years Ago When i Was Dirt Poor And i Had Crappy Dollar General Tv Satellite And it Only Had A Few Channels And On One Random Day i Was Scrolling Through The Channels And i Landed On My30 And This Movie Was Just Starting And For Some Reason i Was interested By The Opening Credits And i Ended Up Watching it And it Was incredible.
