My dog died about 3 weeks ago, he was run over. We buried him under the tree in our garden. So this game hit me really really hard. His name was Bruce and he was the best boy.

The beginning really hit hard, I lost my best friend (kitty) of 20yrs on the 21st.. just picked up his ashes yesterday. My little shadow who loved me with his whole heart left me sad and alone. We don't deserve them, but he loved me anyway. I miss him so so very much.

I love the cutscenes in this game. Other games have cardboard cutouts standing still and taking turns to give their line. This game... The characters feel alive

Chris is the only let's play Yutuber who actuallys reads and cares about the story, dialogs and even reads items. A very rare diamond. Most other let's play yutuber just want to get the story done quick so they can move on to the next game. Christ, keep doing your awesome thing.

That portion with Fenrir got me emotional. Made me think my dog of 13 years who passed away. Before he passed he did not eat much. He was very kind and loving.

12:31 honestly it's true, same with cats. Right before this game came out I had to put my best little buddy Jack to sleep. He was 16 and had developed bone cancer. I'm in my 30s so I've had him half my life. When Atreus called Fenrir brave, I had to pause the playthrough I was watching at the time because that's the exact thing I said to my boy. He brought me through some of the hardest years of my life, was a constant companion, liked chirping and chattering and belly rubs. Pets are a damn gift, man. To the point: This game (and GoW 2018) are such special damn games and as a newcomer to your channel, I'm so glad to see you've done a playthrough of GoWR. Sorry to start this on such a.................note, but I look forward to watching the rest of it!

Loved this first episode! I'm so happy that Kratos is continuing to be a great father to Atreus. Can't wait to see where this journey will take us all.

I cannot believe how much tears this game brought me right at the start. I'm not tearing up, I am crying. This is a God of War game. I was prepeared a little bit sadness and emotions but mostly action, right at the start as Freay attacked the boys. Then, comes Fenrir. As far as I know Fenrir here, died of old age. Witch means he had a full life, and even waited for the boys to come home, he even stood up. Then licked Atreus's face as a goodbye, I hope, when he started to comfort Fenrir. His passing was a gentle one. I myself had a dog who had to be put to sleep due to the innability to stand up (St. Bernards have this problem thanks to overbreeding) Allmost the same setting, I'm sitting on the ground, Dog's head on my lap, not as huge as this direwolf obviously, and slowly getting to sleep, licking me everywhere. I allways blamed myself that I might decided too fast, and maybe I've should waited for her. But she was so old and she couldn't move, I didn't want to hurt her more. Her passing were too a gentle one, a huge sigh then It was over. Thankfully I have mostly happy memories of her, as she tried to crawl up into my lap, then finally gave up, because of her big size and just put her forearms and her head on my lap. Sorry for the sad story, but I couldn't believe a God of war game, A GOD OF WAR GAME breaks me into tears. Sometimes I truly envy Cat owners, I never see a video game or a movie, where a Cat died in a sad scene. Only dogs, feels a bit unfair.

Admittedly I had to stop my game during that scene. I’ve lost too many dogs growing up in my life and that was depicted just too well when you have to say goodbye to them. The light from their eyes turns cloudy.

Young Atreus "Will I be able to turn into an animal?" Well... that was foreshadowing apparently!

A minor but good detail in this game is the entries in the codex are now from the viewpoint of Kratos rather than Atreus (used to be known as BOI) since Kratos nos knows how to read as oppose to asking Atreus to read.

hey Odd, Im here to leave a like. And sadly, I must wait to play this myself prior to watching. I sure will see this playthrough in around 3 years upon PC release. :D

I wanted to express appreciation for the time you take to read the codex entries. It helps out more than you may realize. 🤗

There was a time when I could skip through combat and long walking scenes in Lets Plays, but now there's dialogue and cute little interactions between characters.

In the last ten seconds of the video, it looks like Kratos has one huge arm and one tiny arm since Atreus is standing behind him lol

Wanted to watch a playthrough of this and was stuck for a while on who to watch until I remembered how good you are at presenting these things and how much I enjoyed your stuff. Glad to see you're still doing this man.

I like how you make sure that Kratos and Atreus are both safe and how you always go and attack any enemy that might try to hurt Atreus too. It's exactly what I would do if I was in Kratos's shoes and trying to protect Atreus from harm the way that Kratos does so Atreus doesn't get hurt or make any rash decisions along the way. The fact that they have a mutual understanding of each other is great too! Even though Atreus is going through the rebellious teenager phase since he's technically a 14 year old boy by the time Ragnarok arrives.

Great beginning of the game and great episode! Definitely hooked to watch you as someone who doesn't want a ps5. Personally I think the achievement pop up and noise is a little immersion breaking.

I know it's for plot reasons, but it just seems so jarring that at one time Kratos can take on a titan and the next moment he's having to seriously exert himself to fight a bear. His power level is so all over the place. I'm not really a lore buff when it comes to the GoW series, but one minute he's a full on god, the next he's basically just a powered up mortal and the next he's a demi-god again. It gets a little confusing. Edit: Okay, so maybe it was no ordinary bear.
