Having friends in Tech Support, and growing up with a dad in IT; I have often heard the statement under muttered breath; "I know it's a stupid question, but my job requires me to ask it, and if I don't I get in trouble." It's true though. I tried for about 4 years to get a job at Gamestop and they simply would not hire me because "I lacked the level of job experience that majority of other applicants had." I would come into the store only to see the new, cute, retail-friendly faces who had been chosen over me. Usually females around 20-30 or older guys around 40. They are very good at being retail workers but gosh they don't know what they were talking about. I had a girl ask me what console I wanted my Mario Party game for... and another guy who didn't believe I completed Dark Souls because he read it was "one of the hardest games of all time." The one that pissed me off the most was when I wanted to buy a new copy of Pokémon X/Y. This guy tried to argue with me about how I was wasting my money not buying the used copy because cartridges don't scratch and they're usually in perfect condition. First off, I don't care. I'm buying this as a gift and I don't want to give your shitty company money. Secondly, please listen to me the first time I tell you no. I'm here to purchase a game and I know what I want. This transaction should have only taken 5-7 minutes max. I have since worked several retail jobs in areas I had no prior knowledge in, so I respect that these workers are just trying to make money like everyone else. I just wish that they hired people actually passionate about games. I feel like my experiences wouldn't have been as negative.
