My husband introduced me to Tool and now they're my favorite band, ever. It took me 2 years of listening to them before it clicked with me a s i realized i was listening to the greatest band. No other music comes close for me. Tool is immaculate. Almost every single song is a masterpiece.. who else does that. Not one band I can think of.

The visuals that Tool's music creates in your mind are your own and often pretty incredible. Every Tool song is a journey of the mind and is sonically orgasmic.

Good call young lady, he does hit the drums hard. That’s how I recognise Danny’s drumming. I’m pretty sure he uses long sticks ( might be beefier as well ), & he’s a giant. Good job guys 👍.

Many call out the lyrics are speaking to/about Tool. As a whole they were struggling getting Lateralus together. Industry pressures, creative differences, scheduling, each feeling alienated from another, etc. Later in the LP journey they come together to embrace their nature, and the randomness, and Lateralus emerged. Now I'm thinking you should run through Lateralus to feel the full journey. Nobody would deny "The Grudge."

Pretty psychedelic in my book. I came across them only a few years ago at work, when the storekeeper before me had some US radio stations on the computer. Introduced me to a lotta songs, that german stations just don't play :-( Btw: just 2 days ago, I once again came across "I had too much to dream (last night)" by The Electric Prunes. You might like it. (Not calling for a reaction. Just for fun.) Or: Paul Roland: "Walter, the occultist". Just my bet: you've never heared of both. What some of us are here for, right?

So, I'm sure some other commenters have already told you, but when it comes to reacting to Tool songs, it is not recommended that you watch the videos to Tool songs upon first listen, and it's also recommended that you guys wear headphones so that you can better capture the amazing sounds. Perhaps you can also have the lyrics up so that you can understand exactly what Maynard is singing. For most, Tool's videos can be extremely disturbing and confusing compared to the song itself. Enjoy your Journey through the Tool catalogue.

I like the WTF? body-language visual reaction --@8:07 but it takes away from first time listens. I'm never grossed out by listening to Schism w/out video. I get the video now, but it took more than a minute. Think you should kick old school Sober next.

Don't watch any of the tool music videos or even the fan produced ones. They are pretty trippy and they have nothing to do with the lyrics or the song and it distracts The Listener from really listening to song or the lyrics

The band made videos have everything to do with the lyrics. The fan made not so much.

@@viking_nor if you interpret Tool videos to mean something that's fine but at face value they don't directly translate what the song is putting across or saying. I think it distracts a first time listener from listening to the lyrics which are meaningful and the music composition. Sober, Prison Sex, Stinkfist, Aenima, Vicarious.....those videos have nothing to do with the song meaning. Most of their original videos were a lot clay-mation. Maybe there's a few instances where a lyric lines up with an image but that's not purposeful.
