Mai is beautiful yes, but she’s the most hardworking contestant practicing alone late into the night, she’s very selfless and would give up on parts she wanted because she believed in herself to shine no matter how small her parts were, she’s incredibly kind, and a great leader that brings out the best in her teammates (see Rain on Me performance where she helped lower ranking contestants shine and win while taking their ideas into consideration). She improved her natural nasal tone to better her vocal abilities within a small time frame. She deserves to debut so much ❤

This lineup is so stacked. I'm so happy for all the members but for Mai most especially bc all her hardwork and efforts were finally recognized. The crazy thing though is I don't believe we have seen peek Mai yet even after her amazing Fake it performance where she radiated sm charisma. I think the PDs really picked her because her trajectory is still climbing and her true potential is yet to be unlocked. Plus she has an extremely solid work ethic and laser focused drive to become better which makes it a real lethal combo to her visuals and skillset. I can't wait to see more of her growth as part of IZNA. In the end a pure heart truly is unbeatable. Btw she is now the unnie of the group and she has clearly shown her leadership skills in the show I don't think it is far fetched if the members will choose her as their leader. When deciding on a groups composition it’s never based on who’s the best. They want members that fit well together. They aren’t going to just take the best vocalists, best rappers, best dancers and form a group. Vocal tone, personality, how the members sound and work together, even looks, amongst many other factors, are taken into consideration. Stop hating on Mai. She’s in the group for a reason.

마이야 후코야 이 글 꼭 봐줘 둘 다 응원해. 어차피 후코는 무조건 데뷔하게 되어있음. 당분간 엄청 힘들겠지만 후코 무조건 데뷔할거니까 절대 포기하지말길. 아이들 미연이랑 비교할건 아니지만, 어쨌든 미연도 yg 탈락하고 가수 한동안 포기 했었다는데, 지금 절대 없어서는 안될 멤버잖아. 그리고 미연도 아이들에 훨씬 잘 맞고. 후코도 꼭 그런존재가 될거라는걸 확신하기에 계속 킵고잉해라. 이정도로 다들 아쉬워하는거면 무조건 다른 곳에서 엄청난 존재가 될거라는거기에 오늘은 그냥 본인이 못해서가 아닌, 이즈나에 데뷔할 운명이 아니었고 다른 곳에서 데뷔해야만 하는 운명과 인연이 있다고 꼭 생각하길. 왜냐면 눈앞에서 10분 정도의 사이에 두번이나 50프로의 확률로 데뷔 갈림길에서 아쉬움을 맛봤다는 것은 그냥 이번이 인연과 운명이 아니었다는거야 화이팅. 꼭 후코가 이 글을 봤으면. + 그리고 마이 욕하고싶지도 않음. 난 마이의 이즈나 생활을 매우 응원함. 솔직히 마이 이번 실력 정말 늘었고 파이널 보면서 정말 놀랐음. 무엇보다 테디 더블랙레이블 특유 유니크한 얼굴에 마이가 너무 잘 맞는건 모두가 인정하는 사실이잖아. 그리고 방송 외적인 모습을 우리가 다 알지는 못하니까 모두의 선택을 응원하면 좋겠음. 사실 난 6인 안에 항상 마이를 눈여겨 보고 있었기도 했었기에.

Am I the only one who is very happy when Mai debuts with IZNA? Mai, saranghae ❤💛💚 To be honest my 3 picks vote were Ryu Sarang, Tomioka Mai, and Choi Jungeun. For the final, there was only 1 pick, my votes were all for Tomioka Mai. I asked my family members and friends, to vote for Mai, and actually, they didn’t follow I-Land 2 n/a. If someone blamed Mai because her favourites did not debut here, it was not Mai’s fault. How much effort have they made to save their favourites? Mai's debut was not just because of her visuals. I watched all the live streams of I-Land 2 n/a. Could you see that Mai has shown significant improvement from the episode 1 to 11? She was not good in the early episode of how she sang nasally in DRAMAAA. I also 100% agree with PD Taeyang. Being an idol was not just a talent show. Mai has the character of an idol. Skills could be polished (considering Mai has not trained as long as the others and Korean is not her first language). Do you remember that in the previous episode, the other girls tried to sabotage Mai? They were talking behind Mai’s back about her nasal sounds, but nobody helped her. Only Jiyoon came and helped Mai. I think at that point, Mnet thought to eliminate Mai. You could see that Mai had very little screen time and she was almost invisible during Part 2. But, Mnet may change their mind at the last minute and decide to pick her in the final debut member. Do you also remember Mai has never complained, regardless how many lines she got, or whatever position was given, she practised hard and stayed up until late at night to excel in her dance. She put a lot of effort into delivering her best on the stage. Her hard work, unselfishness, and kindheartedness deserved her a spot in the debut line-up. The turning point for Mai when she won the audience’s heart was she sang Into the New World, then followed with Fake It in the final. She suppressed her nasal sounds and showed major improvement in her vocal. I believe she will keep getting better if she keeps practising. I am rooting all the 7 members of IZNA. I like all the seven (7), and I will support them from the bottom of my heart. I am very proud of Mai now. Actually, I can see why producers picked Mai. From the global votes, the producers can see they have: Main Vocals - Jiyoon & Jungeun Main Rapper - Koko Visual & Center - Jeemin All rounder - Sarang Fuko is a main vocal. The team has 2 main vocals already. Saebi is likely to be main visual. The team has Jeemin already. Mai displays good improvements and can sing and dance well. In some sense, she complements the rest of the team.

people in this comment section are fighting about mai being the lineup and saying she doesn't deserve a spot and should've been replaced with fuko but to be honest she's the most improved trainee in any survival show along with kim so-hye (former I.O.I) and go yuri/kang hyewon (former IZ*ONE). people are claiming she is the "worst trainee" on this show is just insane. FIRSTLY. she was already a decent trainee to begin with but not the best. she is rank 9 on evaluations out of 24. being in just the top 10 out of 24 trainees just shows that she is talented, its just y'all focus on her visuals rather than her actual talents (the kpop trainee industry is HELL if you know, you know.). SECONDLY. she is one of the few trainees who never left I-LAND in part 1. why? not because of her visuals LMFAOOO, but because of her leadership and her commitment/patience. in part 1, the rest of the I-LANDERS had to vote who they believe should stay in I-LAND after the FINAL LOVE SONG performance. out of 12 trainees, 7 trainees voted for MAI and SUJUNG to stay in I-LAND (which i believe they both were the highest scores behind CHOI JUNGEUN who had immunity as she earned the center part). this is because during the FINAL LOVE SONG, MAI's parts were switched and shuffled, leaving her with the smallest part towards the end. however, although it did bother her, she decided to keep it because she knew that she could make it work. and it did in her favor by having the trainees recognize her commitment and the patience she had. this leaves her rank 2 out of 12 in I-LAND, making her go up 7 ranks from her initial rank (9) and 2 ranks from the entrance test (4). she also was hanging by a thread and had tremendous amount of stress as she was not only the leader for RAIN ON ME (creative unit) but that was her first time leading an actual group. the fact that it was her first time leading a group and becoming the ONLY I-LAND unit to win for the UNIT Test shows that she is an amazing choreographer and storyteller with her dances. so anyone shitting on her dancing is just wow (people may say SAEBI or LINGLING carried, but reminder that you cannot take credits away from the choreographer. SAEBI and LINGLING owned and did their parts because MAI as a leader trusted them). oh and after the UNIT Test she ranked 2nd, meaning she never left 2nd whilst being under pressure and stressed when coming to new things such as leadership, directing, and choreographing. this goes to my THIRD comment. she may not be the best dancer, but she's the best at stage presence/performance. she knows what the judges and audience would like to see despite not having a very dance-like background like SUJUNG. EX: IWALY. during her SMALL yet IMPACTFUL part in IWALY, she made up that part rather than using the sulky girl original choreography (in which her opponent NAM YUJU used which was a disadvantage). her making up her own part made it more eye-catching and as MONIKA said that they chose the one that was more original and it was MAI's part as she was acting with an imaginary phone and doing facial expressions which in both is hard to come by and do at the same time TRUST. (i dont like MONIKA as a judge bc her favoritism is insane, but i like her as a dancer). oh and shes named impact princess for a reason. yes you guys may be like "but that's not actual dancing its just gestures and facial expressions". but as a dancer, it's always not about using the same original choreography you watch but making up your own thing (even if its small or not) and it is actually hard to comeby like would you have thought of using a phone, putting it down, throwing the phone away and staring at the camera acting with envy and hatred in your eyes with all of that happening in the matter of 8-10 seconds? i don't think so. it even adds a little spice to the perfomance. for my LAST reason, yes. i admit that MAI in the show is the worst I-LANDER in terms of vocals. but you can't ignore how she improved in such a short span. JUST 2 MONTHS and it wasn't even through proper training, but dedication and determination by staying up later than the rest of the trainees because she knows she has to improve. meaning she did it not only by herself but the other trainees who actually stepped up and helped her as well despite it being a competition. and it DID something bc her nasal voice is not as noticeable as before (yes it is still nasally but it's almost gone now which is actually insane). even TAEYANG who is technically the main producer recognized it. and with TAEYANG being experienced in the kpop industry for 20 years, that is an actual honor and recognition to have. to anyone who disagrees, you can hate my opinion and hate on MAI for the smallest things. but it will never change the fact that she is one of the most improved trainee on the show in which is why i vote for her. not because of her visuals, but based on improvement. i can see her potential for the future as shown throughout the show where she worked her ass off in the night when she could've easily used that time to rest like the other trainees. and as TAEYANG said "we need more trainees/idols like her" (when they announced MAI going to the finals). and for FUKO and the rest of the trainees, she will debut. they will all debut in anyway such as being an idol or an actor. they were all here and picked for a reason. all of their hard work will be recognized in not only the KPOP but the korean industry.

성실하고, 착하고, 힘든 미션도 묵묵히 이겨냈던 마이. 세미파이널 때 모두가 간절했기에 파트에 대한 욕심이 컸었을 수 밖에 없던 상황이었고 마이 역시 그랬을텐데 그래도 상황을 다 지켜보면서 배려할 건 배려하고 받을 파트는 받은, 자신의 욕심이 팀에 지장이 가지 않게 노력한 마이가 굉장히 인상 깊었음. 아직 많이 부족한 건 사실이지만 이번 파이널 무대에서 엄청 성장한게 보였으니 연습을 더 하면 굉장히 스타성 있는 아이돌이 될 수 있을 것 같음. 앞으로 더더 많은 사랑을 받았으면!
