Ive been to the Philippines 3 times now. Ive rented airbnb's in BGC. You can find a very decent 1 bedroom apartment in luxury building for like $650 per month. You can also eat VERY well on a monthly budget of $500. Im not saying go out to fancy restaurants everyday in that budget but be able to buy quality food at the grocery stores to cook at home. On top of that I wouldnt necessarily say you even NEED a car living in Manila. Sure it has its conveniences but at the same time if you've ever been to Manila you know how crazy the traffic is and how people drive. I'd almost rather have someone drive me around while I relax and most definitely wouldnt want to constantly risk having someone hit my car with the way people drive there. Theres more than enough transportation to get around which you can do for about $200 per month. Your other monthly expenses: Cellphone, internet, utilities? All which cant be anything more than like $250 per month combined ($60 cell phone, $70 internet, $120 utilities). You can get pretty good health insurance for like $150 a month and have $250 left over every month for some entertainment. Total: $2000 per month for a single person. Aside from everything I just mentioned what more do you need??? If you really wanna play it safe, make it $2500. And thats in BGC. You could live literally just about anywhere else in the Philippines and cut those expenses practically in half if you chose to

We live in Tanay, Morong area and a family of 3 on around $700. Per month before restaurants. There you can get home cooked meal 120P so for 3 meals 6 to 7 dollars 😊

Good interview 👍 I was in The Philippines 🇵🇭 last year, 2022. Budget. I lived in The Province. I went on $2,500 per month. I did not drive (although I miss driving in Canada 🇨🇦 and the USA US🇺🇲). Sometimes I ate vegetarian meals for better health and to keep the food budget low. Yet, I still felt and lived like a prince 🤴.

Keep it up Evan.....BGC and Makati is where most westerners should live. I have lived overseas, and although many westerners visit a foreign country...that is in NO WAY like living there. Western expats take heed....the third world gets old. And fast. You can't eat scenery. Don't move unless you can afford to live in a modern city like BGC.

The most important of all is the women. The Filipina women are young, beautiful, sexy, traditional, feminine, fit, and friendly. They will fall in love with you even if you are just an average guy that has an average height, average looks, average body, average money, average **** size, as long as you are a decent human being. Unlike in the United States where all the women only go for the top 1% of men who is 6 ft. tall, has 6 pack abs, 6 inches, 600 horse power car, making six figure income, has blonde hair, and blue eyes. This leaves the 99% of average men in the United States without any love life, no companion, sexless, lonely, and sometimes they turn into a mad man who goes out on a shooting spree killing people in a mass shooting as the only way to take revenge against the cruel world they are in. Like me, I broke up with my long term gf of 7 years from California last 2019 because she cheated on me. The dating landscape has changed so much that I have been single since 2019. I have been sexless for 4 years now. The Philippines is my only way out of this misery. Its the light at the end of the tunnel. Now I am just working my ass off, saving money, investing money, so that the time may come when I can finally go to the Philippines, meet a special girl, get married, raise a family, and live my best life. Until then, I am just here in the US to work my tail off to make sure I work as hard as I can and earn money as much as I can. I just think of it as delayed gratification.

First comment here - I like the new format of interviewing expats, especially the younger crowd that move to the Philippines and still needs to work. I think there are a lot of young(er) viewers interested in their stories and how they made it to move to the Philippines. However there is one recurring point in the videos/thumbnails I feel is slightly misleading .. “live like a king on 1500 usd” .. my experience in the Phils is that you can be comfortable as a single but you re far from a king. In BGC, you’d live in a studio, you have likely no car and you will still watch your expenses when you hang out at the very high end places. Cost also rise quite quickly for expats who settle down, marry, have kids etc. I think the expats who will be successful in relocating are the smart crowd and entrepreneurial (like many people on your channel). They would be successful anywhere but chose to live in the Philippines. Those who just think their money takes them further, will end up being caught up by rising costs of living and the fact that it’s very easy to lose money in PH if you re not (street) smart.

I am a naturalized US citizen, born and raised in the Philippines. Everytime I watch your videos and I see more and more expats relocating there. I keep aaking myself, what will it take for me to move back home and still earn dollars. How can I keep paying my US ssn or a 401k? Here we go again - another $1500 budget "story" - only this time it's from one of the most expensive areas in the Philippines ! -- I can only imagine one of the least expensive areas and what he might be spending - although 'he' obviously wouldn't be comfortable there. -- Perhaps others certainly may be. --?-- After listening to a years worth of various videos and opinions - it is very clear that the more frugal you can be comfortable with - the cheaper you will be able to live over there. Simple and much easier than the US for those with the guts to just go ! -- Good health is ""highly recommended"" as a peace of mind prerequisite for numerous reasons.

I am from Texas, the economy has been on fire here. I make about $30K USD per month, and travel to Philippines and live like a King in both USA and Philippines, I also travel quit a bit to Cancun Mexico.

Our 2nd home is in the Philippines. It is paid for completely. just pay taxes on it. Our home in So Cal is also paid for. So, a tip for young adults, pick your home carefully and buy the cheapest one you can afford in the "best" part of town, and you will never go wrong. By the way, I will never ever live full time in the Philippines . I do not like the food there nor the heat and humidity but it's my wife's home country. I love watching my favorite pro sports teams in person . Then there's the snow in the winter and the beaches in the summer. Las Vegas is close enough to drive there and back. There is just so much more for us in the USA. I didn't mention education institutes and employment opportunity for our children when they graduate.

There are almost 200 languages spoken in the Phillipines. If you start counting dialects (ie bisayan in cebu is different than bisaya in cdo etc) it really grows.

Im from Beaumont area and plan to visit soon for exploratory places to settle. Also planning on retirement in the Manila area probably BGC or Makati. Too much toxicity here in the US, poor political climate, gun violence, hate culture, rising cost of living, homelessness etc. Dude you made the right move.

The areas around Manilla are more geared toward the younger and remote worker expats. The better infrastructure, more 'western' type life style and easy access to the international airport are key items more tend to take for advantage 'back home'. I think Cebu and Iloilo are showing great improvement, with Cebu having the newer international airport available. I think Iloilo is probably one of the more promising cities, growing pretty quickly, but doing so in a more 'western' type build. The place is one of the best kept cities, clean and well maintained. The suburb areas are more attractive to the retired type of expats, as well as those few areas where it may be a bit cooler, as well as less expensive. Although the country is still rolling out some great infrastructure programs, as well as major renovations to some old US bases, are opening up a lot of opportunities for the people. Of course, inflation is kicking in, but not nearly what those expats were seeing 'back home'.

I live in a private subdivision with 24 security in Cavite. It’s just like living in BGC and Makati but the air is fresh and not polluted. No blackouts/brownouts. There’s no water cutoff. No mortgage and no car payments.

At 1500 if you are living like a king id be fine paying the same im paying for all my rent combined at 800$. While I did maximum bargain shopping for the places i selected, they are 20- 30 miles apart and the storage warehouse i co rent in the west side Chicago is not a good neighborhood. Id be perfectly happy managing some airbnbs remotely from a place in Makati or maybe eastwood. Lifes too short not to live well... the Philippines is the greatest value i feel on the face of the earth

Nuvali in Laguna is still cheaper compared to Makati and BGC but still has the vibe of both and have more wide open space, less polution, and low density development. It has world class hospitals, major malls like Ayala Malls, SM (soon to open) S&R, Landers in the area and only minutes drive to Tagaytay City.

Third world country, humidity is up to the roof, foods sucks, brown out everywhere, healthcare is one of the worst and most of all..the corruption???.. But you know what...... another thing i wanted to point out that i feel like alot of people dont say as a reason they wanna live in the Philippines is the ease of getting beautiful women. Everytime Ive been to the Philippines (in my experience, yours my vary) I get a HUGEEE amount of attention from people in general. Like its night and day from how it is here in southern california. Im a decent looking dude, relatively in shape, 34 years old and dress pretty well for context. But when I walk around in the philippines, I get sooo many eyes on me that I feel like a bit of a celebrity. Its awesome! I feel like i could literally pull any chick I want. Even more so when you visit smaller cities like Tuguegarao where theres not nearly as many tourists. In my time there I think I saw max 2 other people who werent Filipino. Got even more attention there. I could only imagine what it would be like to go to a province. And thats something I think alot of these dudes leave out is the amount of attention/ease of getting girls you can get when in the Philippines. And on top of that, its not like living here in SoCal where girls expectations are so fuckin high and through the roof. Filipina girls are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier to please and make happy. This is a MASSIVE reason I love the Philippines and I know damn well im not the only guy who feels that way. I love the attention!

US expat living in Tungkil, Cebu. Define " like a king". I live in a two unit townhouse that has been converted to one very large unit. I need my space. Paid $108000 for it. I would not get a shoebox condo in Cebu City. I like large homes. My wife and I live VERY comfortably on $5,000 a month. I would not live here on under 3,000$ a month if I wanted to live an American lifestyle.

Good interview. How old is this gentleman? Remote work supporting the US is going to be a struggle in the long run especially cause you will have to work quite a few nights if you really want to support and meet with US clients and partners. It can be done but imo only for a few years.

I lived in Davao 6 months . My cheapest Month was $1000 . My most expensive month was still less than $1500.this was paying for a hotel room daily so it can be done even cheaper. Eating only room service , take out , and food panda. So Also can be done cheaper. King is a strong word. But I lived good . Netflix , aircon , hot water . 3 meals a day . Beers cola water etc. some bar visits . Usually as a couple. Still $1000-$1500 with $1500-$2000 I could even go to the bar and party a couple times a week. Studio or 1bdrm even in makati can be found for $300. In Davao $200 easy to find . But again as a king ? Maybe $4000 for that . Close to western lifestyle can be done for $1500. Like any country sky is the limit you can spend $10,000 it’s on you

Sorry but 1500 isn’t going to be living like a king especially in the north end of Makati near Burgos. Makati near Greenbelt or BGC with a lot more than 1500 you still wouldn’t be living like a king. Yes you will do ok but nothing extravagant. To be able to do whatever you like has to be $3+. With 4-5k now you’re living really well.

That is true, the Philippines is not all apples and peaches so does the USA. I've been living here in Californai for about 50 years and I saw the transformation of the country from honey to lemon. Lots and lots of homeless people who trash and dirty up places they move into and touch. The decays of the infrastructures is very imminent all across the nation. The only and richest nation that do not have any bullet train nor a more modern railway system. Where the government cannot seem to get along between the two political parties, to the detriments of their constituents and the American people. I could go on and on. Nothing beats the simple life with all the amenities of a more modern nation.

I think that living in the Philippines is great for anyone who desires a tropical and somewhat affordable lifestyle. I’m in my early 50’s and plan to move there after I retire. In the meantime I’m purchasing investment property in Bohol. My decision to move to Phills is not based on the fact that I can live better there than in the states. I’ll be selling my houses, property, vehicles, and will have at least $300k cash in the bank moving abroad. And my military pension is over $5k USD monthly, not to mention my 401k and other investments. Could I live like a King in the Philippines? For sure, because I’m already living well in the States. So again, everyone has their own reasons for moving there. Me? I’m just sick of the States and am ready to live the remainder of my days in “paradise” surrounded by beautiful people.

Easy to live well in the Philippines if single with no kids making US wages. What about families with kids from the US working wages in the Philippines? What opportunities are there?
