From what I’ve learned from Sovietwomble, you should play as a low-trust player (ie: not trusting anyone, even if they seem friendly due to high risks of being backstabbed for overly trusting people). So I’m surprised he wasn’t killed by the first people he met (who seemed friendly).

The very reason why I stopped playing. This can be fun if you have friends, but if you go into dayz to make friends or do anything besides pvp it is a massive waste of time. Back in the days when DayZ was an Arma2 mod only and it was really difficult to get it working the communities were amazing. Now it seems to be all about pvp and you either belong to a group or you are deadmeat. And I say this after being the medic-hermit of two servers for about a year, patching up random people. DayZ lost its charm for me. If I want to play PVP there are dedicated games for that, I wanted survivors against the zeds and elements with the occasional bandits, not a PVP with extreme-slow gearing up and clunky gunplay where you have to hope that the server registered your hits before the already dead opponent still kills you. What made DayZ unique in the beginning was the survivor element, where PVP was not the focus.

@@thegwolf I whole-heartedly agree with what you've said, the early day were amazing even looking back on all the bugs. The atmosphere is polluted, and I don't ever see it going back to the way it was. DayZ had the potential to be the best zombie zurvival game, now it's just a clunky mess of a pvp looter.

@@Koolaidbloke dude the fact that this game literally started several entire genres is why it needs to stay. Dayz is why battle royal exists, its why survival shooters exist, its why we have games like Tarkov, never forget the legacy of what dayz created just because you got screwed by a bug. Dayz is a game like arma(duh) and Skyrim, it lives and dies by its mods, and its been like that since Arma 2. Also for the few bugs you encounter with the base game they are rare and not really that major, other than cars and server desync(usually due to servers not being restarted regularly) the game is fairly stable and BI is working on new physics for cars. Also this game has 100+ player servers that run with minimal desync on an outdated engine. its really not that bad, the game as a base is better than anything that's come out in this genre in recent history.

@@lostwizardcat9910 my guy this did not start the battle Royale genre the was a book released several decades before this game came out called “battle Royale” and I did get screwed over by a bug cause there are so many every game I play is a buggy mess the game is shit good stuff may have came out of it but doesn’t make the game good and the games that have come out of it like tarkov are significantly better then dayz could ever be $50 for a bug ridden game is insane the game ain’t even finished and it’s been out for like 5 years

@@Koolaidbloke Dayz did in fact start battle royal. You just seem to think dayz was a random game produced by a company in 2013. Dayz started off as a mod for arma 2 in the very early 2010s and spawned many, many game modes and genres still played today. Including survival shooters, base building survival games, battle royal, King of the hill, and more. The game was a bug riddles mess when it came out yeah, but as of now its a fairly stable game and I have well over 5k hours on standalone, and easily 10k or more on the Arma 2 mod. Tarkov devs literally abandoned half of their game after less than 6 months of its release, Tarkov was originally going to have a survival-esqu single/multiplayer story mode (which is why the food items are in the game to begin with.) As for bugs in standalone the only bug I get on a regular basis is cars freaking out on servers with more than 30 active players. Also in the future please separate your talking points so its not a wall of jumbled text.

@@Koolaidbloke In fact. Dayz standalone completely ignoring the PVP player base is what gave rise to battle royal games as a whole. PUBG scratched the itch that these players had, and in turn other companies copied that formula and added their own twists however extreme they may be. This all came from the Arma2 Dayz mod's various unique server styles, and subsequently dayz standalones failure to hit that niche market. Games like warzone, fortnight, PUBG, H1Z1 apex legends and basically every other battle royal game owe their entire existence to the original dayz mod and the various smaller mods that were added to the main Dayz mod by server owners.

this isnt dayz its hella modded to the point it may as well be a different game. people who actually play these types of games play on less modded or official servers.

DayZ is a shit game to play, especially solo. If this seems interesting, I'd recommend Arma 3 and a mod like Exile, if that's still around. It gives the same feel with a much better gameplay experience. Server mods have ai packages, rules to fit various playstyles, vehicles so you aren't stuck in a running simulator. The creator said an hour long vid takes him a week or two to get footage. So, this is seriously time condensed and if you play solo, you'd be like the ghillied guy they killed. It's very much a KoS game, kill on sight. The devs never succeeded in making ammunition valuable for use against the zombies and creating any incentive for players to trade rather than just kill each other.

this is a modded server. i cant actually believe people play a server with mods like this. you have to mf sleep looking at a black screen for 5 mins wtf is that. and surgically removing bullets in between getting rushed by a player. how is that fun surely it just makes the server a pain in the arse to play. way too much rp id rather play a pvp server all day

I can't usually stand watching games. I'd rather just play it if it's interesting. DayZ is such a shit game to play, though, at least last time I tried it. Me and a buddy, that I cajoled into playing, ran for near an hour to group up and then we got killed by a hacker teleporting around.

The game got a whole lot better once modders where allowed to work on it the original devs however are a joke given how long this game has been in "development"

I wish cars were more stable and I think gunshot sounds could use a little work, other than that I don't care, take all the devs put them on the arma4 engine, let the modders take over and put some LOVE into dayz. Plus we all get to pick our own dayz that way rather than being forced to play what the devs decide.
