P.S. Epel's room is my favorite of the dorm rooms in Pomefiore. It's the homemade quilt decorating the bed and his cork board of photos from home. It makes it feel less like a hotel room and more like a dorm room.

Epel has been one of my favorite characters since I started playing TWST. Because of his dainty appearance and being a first year, people often use him as a doormat, a blank canvas on which to force their whims or to vent their frustrations. Apparently, this also happened back in Epel's hometown before he came to campus, and the fact that magic is matrilineal in his family makes it all the harder to escape being called "princess" or "girly man". In addition to a longstanding idea for a young eel character for Ursula's retinue I had, it was thanks to Epel that I was inspired to create Myra Kelpie (sometimes called the "manly girl" of Octavinelle, the "little enforcer" of Azul's retinue and "little sister" to the Leech twins). I know firsthand what it feels like to have a seat at the table but to not have a voice in a conversation, to be underestimated because of ingrained notions of what certain people can(not) do based on physical appearance or mental (dis)ability. Quiet strength is still strength, and should never be discounted by the prominently strong or socially affluent. Yes Vargas, Crewell, Vil and Rook, I am giving all of you the stink eye right now. My favorite Epel vignette has to be his Ghost Wedding suit when he trained the "problem child" horse in the stable with Silver looking on, proving that horses (like people) want to have their needs heard and validated. If I have anything to say about it, my "apple kohai" will be able to shout his goals to the whole of Twisted Wonderland someday, even if his voice quavers like an avalanche. I would be glad to take Epel in as my battle buddy if we were casting spells together. Like with Deuce, I love him like the precious little brother I never had; I call Deuce "precious kohai" already though, so "apple kohai" for the Poison Apple of Pomefiore. He will make someone very happy someday, although whether that is Myra Kelpie (when she finally admits to herself that she has a crush on him) or another person(s) in canon remains to be seen.
