This video outlines how I lost 80 pounds with intermittent fasting and have been maintaining that weight loss since October of 2018.
The journey started in March of 2014 when I was tagged in some photos on Facebook and I didn't recognize myself. From there I went on a journey that eventually lead me to intermittent fasting and walking as a form of weight loss without having to restrict any foods or count calories.
On the plan that ended up working, I was eating whatever I wanted and lost about a pound a week on average when I went from 222 pounds to 157 pounds and then about 1/3 a pound a week on average when I went from 157 pounds to 142 pounds.
This is the fitbit I have (an Alta): amzn.to/2KOGaHi

Tip 1: Change your mindset about food. Find a reason why you should fast daily. Tell yourself "I dont need food to be happy or active... I always feel better when i do not eat..." If you are a Christian then you can add this: "It helps curb my desires and gives me more time to think and pray" Tip 2: Intermittent Fasting is a must do. Forget about keto diet, etc cos they are temporary and not habitual... IF is habitual and sustainable. Do not fast less than 16 hours a day. I do 18 or 20 daily, and drink water regularly... Tip 3: Meal prep is very important... Make sure you prepare your meals to last for at least 1 week, and they are easily microwaveable. It will stop you from eating unhealthy or unplanned meals. Ensure you add alot of veggies to your meals like carrots, beet, greens, ball peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc... They boost metabolic burning process and make your food rich... Tip 4: Less cardio, more strength exercises... Cardio makes you exhausted when fasting, but strength makes you feel stronger and muscle building increases your daily metabolic burning rate... I am 1-2 months in, already burnt more than 30% body fat, fitting into old clothes, feeling healthier, lighter and stronger... CONSISTENCY IS KEY!!! I wish you the best 👍

I started intermittent fasting about a week ago and went from 245lbs to 239lbs. But the thing is I do cardio everyday for 40 minutes or more, but I break it up into segments.Oh! And lots and lots of water, that's for sure A few more days have passed and I'm already down to 237.6lbs. Cardio with it really does speed the process *UPDATE* I ended up getting down 203lbs

I'd eat then go to the gym for at least 20 minutes to burn off most of it and not eat again until I was hungry. And overall I ate healthy, but stil indulged from time to time on sweets and breads and so on

Your videos really inspired me to start fasting. I started 40 days ago cold turkey 24 hour fast. I've lost 18 pounds so for. I love this way of eating and fasting. It really balances my hormones out. I had my thyroid removed last year and I'm in menopause 56 years old. Too much exercises stresses my body and my weight stalls but the perfect combination works with fasting. Thank you so much for sharing your story. Food is no longer a problem for me thanks to you.

I had the 'help' of a retired Dietician for the passed 8 months. She is EXTREMELY old fashioned (I am 71 -- but I am much more in tune with the times). She insists I need to do 1200 calories a day, 300 for breakfast, 300 for lunch and 400 for dinner. It was agony. I tried so hard, but just couldn't do it consistently every day. So after 8 months lost 3 lbs. She thought that was GREAT. I do not think 3 lbs counts if I am 100 pounds overweight...it is insignificant. I just started doing intermittent fasting 4 days ago. She ADAMANTLY does NOT like intermittent fasting. She called me today to check up on me. I did not admit I am doing intermittent fasting. I tried to tell her she can't help me -- but she insists she is going to check up on me once a month. I feel trapped because she has done this all voluntarily -- but she actually eroded my sense of hope. I AM going to lose weight doing intermittent fasting!!!!
@SixMilesToSupper
@SixMilesToSupper 3 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry that you had that experience. It sounds like she didn't intentionally try to erode your sense of hope, but I know it still stings. Regardless, you are in control of your body, and your plan, and for that matter, who you communicate with and when. There's a book called "Boundaries" by Dr. Henry Cloud that I found very helpful when it comes to situations like these. Best wishes on your journey!

Omad works, and if it isnt safe, being overweight isnt safe either. No gaurantees in life, i have been doing it for over a year. I was overweight for many years and hated that i couldnt get my athleticism back. Its a test of character and dont care for what others say. You have to live in your body and it is your call.

I think most people would like to lose without the six miles a day... especially those who already work either standing all day or moving. I personally have been athletic since I was young. I could stand to maybe lose about 20 pounds and the reason why I've just started doing this. It also mostly for me has to do with the benefits of fasting. I weigh in at about 184. I would like to be about 173. I'll let you know how it goes.

Camille Quidgley Anything I want, basically. I do eat a bit more healthy than the average person though, I'd like to think. I have a smoothie a day w/ a banana, nettles, blueberries, an apple, coconut water & oil, and hemp & flax seeds. I eat alot of free range bison & lamb from a very good local farm. Farm fresh eggs, whatever dairy I want, organic whole wheat bread occasionally, avocados, and things I forage such as nettles, dandelions, milkweed, lambsquarters, multiple species of wild onion, chickweed, burdock, thistles, etc, as well as wild mushrooms like morels, chanterelles, chicken & hen of the woods, crown tipped coral, shaggy manes, puffballs, etc. I've been eating this way for years (generally) & did some cheating this Winter and I put on some weight, so I decided to try the intermittent fasting & I shed it right off. Feeling good too. I do occasionally eat out (nowhere with a drive through though, big rule of mine) and it doesn't seem to interfere with the fasting, I'm still losing weight consistently. Think I'll keep doing this unless I lose too much weight, then I'll just add some hours onto my eating time frame until I'm maintaining the weight I want. Spring/Summer I'll probably change to 16/8, then when Winter comes around I'll go back to 18/6 since I always tend to gain a bit in the cold months, but, I'll play it all by ear. Best of luck to ya if you give it a try, I def recommend it.

Great accomplishment!! Intermittent fasting worked even for me and no one would have said that I had a weight problem. I started in May 2018 at about 152 and today I'm at 136. I did the same as this lady starting with what I had hope I could sustain. Since I had done the ketogenic diet for a number of year (but fell off that train), I had an advantage of knowing kind've what this would feel like. I started with 12:12 then over a month or two converged on 16:8 and on a few occasions 22:2. I did a 3 day water fast and later a 66 hour hard dry fast (not easy). A sore/scab that I had on my hand for a number of years mysteriously healed and it's been gone for over 2 months now. Mental clarity and energy is through the roof. For example, yesterday I started a 24 hour water fast at 3PM. I still haven't eaten but at 1PM today (22 hrs into the water fast) I swam at a Y - a total of 3,500 yds then spent 15+10+5 minutes in a 180 degree sauna. As long as I drink water with some salt I'm ok. I'm now not going to eat and go another 24 hours. Once you gradually work your way you start incidentally breaking barriers, both physical and mental. I encourage everyone to keep read, researching and watching youtube. You have to pick up some helpful tips. For example, if you're sodium (salt) deficiency, that increases insulin and you desire to eat. Also (found this out from a study just days ago), if you have a choice between restricted eating in a window that goes well into the night OR not restricting to a per-se window BUT never eating after 6PM, the latter is better. See Dr Satchin Panda interview by Dr. Rhonda Patrick. Best of luck. I am in a new world and I don't see myself ever going back to how I lived for many years.

New subscriber and new to IF. Tired of all of the diets and rules (nothing that has worked because I can’t stick to them). IF just makes so much sense (and seems completely sustainable). I’ve done a ton of research on IF and watched so many different videos/channels and you’re the best that I’ve found so far! I love your REAL and simple approach and clearly it’s working! Congrats on your amazing story! Thanks for the encouragement and motivation! Here we go!

Hi Kayla. Your video is good to hear. I started IF just last Saturday so it's been 6 days now (today is Friday) and I' went from 272lbs down to 266lbs already by fasting 14-16hrs, in the morning mostly, and eating normally for lunch and dinner. I miss having coffee with sweet cream creamer in the morning when I wake up but I replaced it with unsweetened iced green tea and it's been barebable. I have been yo-yo dieting since 17 (I'm 31 now) and this has been the fastest weight loss I ever experienced. Congrats on your weight loss!

I like this idea no eliminating foods like carbs when I eliminate carbs I become extremely fatigued and I get insomnia and I get depressed so that is not an option for me I am losing weight with complex carbs and no sugar or processed foods. I tried intermittent fasting last year and lost weight then kind of stopped and so just started again it is one of the only ways I can lose weight, so glad you were so successful it gives me hope. Thank you.

I started IF in mid-Feb 2019 doing 16 hr fast/8 eat. I am a retiree and was naturally thin most of my life (5'9 135) until my 50s when the weight built up, really accelerating after some surgery. I tried lots of things to lose it with no success. With IF, going to the gym 2-3 times a week, and walking - I've dropped 15 lbs so far. I am surprised how easy it is to live with the new eating schedule - and I feel better overall. If a cancer survivor in his 60s like me can do this, I think it is possible for most people to be successful.

I lost 130 pounds . I fast 23 hours a day. eat within a one hour window. I cut out all sugar and garbage..... I go to the gym 1 hr a day 5 days a week. went from size 52 to 36 and still dropping.. this works but you have to want it....
@Clownsatthecemetery
@Clownsatthecemetery 5 жыл бұрын
@marysimon I fast for 23 hours a day every day. I workout 5 to 6 days a week. I do one bodypart a day then do cardio. 45 minutes is my time limit in the gym. this change must be sustainable.. so its 25 minutes of free weights on a body part, then its 20 minutes of intense cardio and im out of the gym. the gym is not what has given me the major results.. its been the fasting and cutting out the following cookies, candy, sugar, soda, fast food, potato chips, French fries, star bucks, dunkin donuts...… my goal is 195 and im just over 20 pounds to go.... I drink water all day.. nothing but water...I consume no other beverage.... it was hard at first but now its not bad at all. im no longer tired all the time due to blood sugar going high and low. and im about to buy 34 inch jeans vs the 52 inch I wore. buying large shirts vs xxL I wore. so to sum it up fasting 23 hrs every day drinking water all day working out 45 minutes a day 5 to 6 days a week. cutting out all the stuff that has absolutely no benefits for you.
