Craig is lucky to have a fully equipped shop for his first project, and obviously being able to observe a master woodworker for a long period of time. That bench came out pretty darn nice - especially considering the curves and angles. You know you've started him on the path, and that this won't be his only project right. Yes, yes, welcome to the dark side Craig!

Love your channel! I’ve never commented before, and I had to say that this was the most helpful video I’ve ever watched! Craig made all the same mistakes all of us novice woodworkers would make and it was so helpful to hear you explain how he could have done something better or more efficient. Great job on the bench Craig and thanks for showing us a bunch of mistakes so we could learn from you!!

Jason had to do a ton of hands on stuff and buy a bunch of cool tools to do woodworking, you just watched him sweat and learned while being paid and have full access to his stuff. You are so brilliant and Jason will never figure that out. Bourbon Mosquito Woodworking is your new channel, great work.

My first piece of furniture was a cardboard stereo rack with 8 track & 1 built in speaker. My second was the same thing made from wooden crate boards for a J.C. Penny MCS series stereo. Both were very wabbly. I kept practicing and soon I built all of my furniture that turned out awesome. I built a stereo cabinet and matching end tables that cost me next to nothing from wood at an auction @ Chris Craft Cruisers (where I was a union joiner) and sold them for $400.00. They were made from Teak, Mahogany, Birdseye Burle and had smoked glass doors. My stereo rack now (40 years later) is wall mounted, black rails & silver hammered shelving & voice activated 4,000 watt home theater (Bluetooth & WiFi controlled volume via smart phone). I have 8 custom cabinet 3-way floor speakers (4 - 200 watt & 4 - 750 watt), 2 - 15" subwoofers (200 watt), 4 Klipsch (200 watt) & 1 McLaren center channel (200 watt).

I’ve really been enjoying your channel. Now that I know you’re a bow hunter I like it even more! I decided a month or so ago I was going to start woodworking. But I’ve been bow hunting for the last few months. This will be hard to believe but I haven’t built anything yet but I’ve ordered a new SawStop cabinet grade saw, 5 new Festool tools Track saw, Domino, sander, Router and MFT. Also new Oneida Supercell dust control. Also a Planer and a Jointer and much much more. Even lots of Woodpecker tools. The funniest part is I’m not even home and my wife is freaking out there’s a garage full of boxes. If these bucks would quit rutting I’ll head home and start putting it all together. Fingers crossed.

I still have the first desk I ever made. Tried to make angled legs instead of making them straight and due to the lack of tools I had to use several decking screws I had on hand to attach them to it. Due to only having a Sawzall to cut the legs to length, they were off by half an inch at most. The instability, wobble, and overall attempt to be fancy with some angled legs is what I definitely plan to change in my later desks... or use L Brackets or even predrill some smaller holes to make sure my screws are going straight through the board. The top is still super sturdy and looks great with a simple mahogany stain and polyurethane coating

If you haven't already, it's time to read that book to Iver. The pic in your sound room should be the clue. Loved seeing Craig with this project, hope he does more. He's got the mental skills and did a great job of putting them to work. He'll have to do a few projects before he gets the "Muscle Memory". I think he may have done dowels and dominoes to expand his feel for the work and methods.
