@@kerbsidemobilemechanic One thing I would suggest is not to touch your face or hair with your dirty hands or gloves! You do it quite often talking to camera. A while back I had dermatitis and traced it back to a dirty laptop keyboard. I had my head in my hands looking at the screen. I now keep the keyboard clean with isopropyl alcohol and use tea tree soap which has anti-bacterial properties. My skin cleared up and now looks like a baby again!

I have been in the trade since the 70's, For the last 30+ years running a 7 bay and 2 test lane workshop,(with a little paint shop for my own stuff/ projects). Euros stuff just isn't worth using if you want to warrant your repairs. Besides the poor quality of much of their stuff, getting the right part in the first place is an achievement in its self, any part for any car isnt their motto, its what they send you instead of what you asked for. I stopped using them a few years back, after getting fed up of ramps being held up by wrongly supplied or faulty parts and then generally waiting ages for replacements.Use a decent indepenent motor factors or those that are part of a reputable trade group.

I hate euros nowadays, I only use them in an emergency. Click and collect orders you still have to wait in a queue even though they have a click and collect counter ? Prices extremely exaggerated to make their discounts look good, which they’re not . Not enough counter staff so they are generally rushed off their feet , but you can always hear a load of pen pushers in the phone room laughing and joking .

Absolutely correct their counter service is a disgrace, there’s never enough staff to cope with demand and like you say loads of people behind the scenes laughing and joking while the queue at the counter gets longer and longer. They are supposed to open at a certain time on a Sunday, the Warrington depot opened up half an hour late and then spent another half hour getting the computers up and running and then left one person to serve eight people,it happens all the time whichever depot you use,the click and collect is a joke because even if you’d paid for the part your still in a long queue, their hopeless and they Jack up the prices so they can offer crazy discounts,I only use them as a last resort.

Hi mate just came across you on KZfaq and i find it interesting watching you work. Can i ask you a question, ive always used garage's before but I'm thinking of looking for a decent mobile mechanic to come to me. When looking for a mobile mechanic in my area whats the best way of knowing they are good and not just rubbish. My second question is would a mobile mechanic have an issue with me watching them do the work, I'm asking because I'm interested in learning how to do the work myself. Also what is the going rate for a mobile mechanic. Any advice I would be grateful 👍

Reviews on google are always a good indicator, and it all depends on the area you are in in terms of price, I wouldn’t say too much cheaper than a garage because you are paying for convenience. And it’s all down to the individual whether or not they are ok with you watching, personally I just like to get on with things, some customers have become friends and I don’t mind having a small chat with them whilst working.

I am a home mechanic and even I don't trust just one supplier, I used to have a book full of different companies and even names of reps to talk to to get the best prices and when I pick up the parts I check all part numbers before I leave and that the parts are new and not returns that cannot be used. The nuts on some BMW arms are elliptical so they lock better on to the bolt rather than the usual nylock nuts and as such will not screw very far on with your fingers at all and require an impact gun to put them on and take them off, it looks like someone bought the part and tried using a spanner to put the nut on and failed due to the nuts design, I literally had to buy an impact gun some years ago because of this issue and my partners BMW needing the same parts and I always use OEM nuts when I replace parts on our cars. I had an issue with Euros one year and they said I had the right parts, till I showed them the manufacturer part numbers on the manufacturers website and that they had supplied me with the wrong side, let's just say I never saw that young lad working at Euros again for calling me a liar like he knew better than a 40 year old who has spent the best part of 22 years working on friends and families cars.

Maybe euro car parts is going that way and GSF is the new major supplier up and coming. First thing asked is the registration, how can that part not be correct??? As a DIYer who also fixes cars for family and friends the time wasted with incorrect/damaged parts isn't as much of a problem for me.

Euro have changed their customer base. No longer aimed at the trade, privates can by the same part for often less than their "trade price" when they order off of the Euro web site. Race to the bottom on cheap Chinese parts which are marginal on safety when fitted. The same parts seem to fail the MOT every year. Some quango government dept. could make themselves useful by looking at the serviceability of much of these imported parts.
