I actually spoke with someone at Beacon about Fabri-tac and Fabri-fix. I don’t know anything about the 3 in 1. What he said was that Fabri-tac is more rigid because it has more resin in it. It’s better for gluing leather and rhinestones. But, glue a little at a time because it starts to cure quickly and if you put a line of dots for rhinestones, they’ll fall off because it’s starting to cure before you get to it (I hope that makes sense), so do one at a time. Fabri-fix is better for paper because it’s less rigid. Also, he said a little trick to stop glue webs is to put Vaseline on the tip of the tube! I hope that helps!!! 💜

Poor Student Crafts My pleasure!!! I figured it would be a good idea to contact them directly and ask! I had also wanted to know about gluing rhinestones onto leather to embellish bracelets and that’s when he told me that it starts to cure immediately so to do one at a time. I figured the same concept would apply to gluing onto paper and it might help someone out! 💜

Thank you for the video. Was surprised you didn’t mention Art Glitter glue. I think it works great especially for narrow areas, because of the fine tip. It does dry quite quickly so you have little wiggle room, but I think it works great!

I use the same pva that Nik does, and when used with a super fine tip, it is about the same as art glitter glue. I use both, like them both, and have noticed that there isn’t a huge difference between the two.

Hi, old lady here. Yes, the shingles shots is a two shot process. That said, I love your little books! I'm definitely going to make them. Sophia looked so cute sleeping in your box of papers. I don't have any ledger paper, but I think I can find something in my Heirloom stack. It has so many papers to choose from. I think yours look great and I love the idea of making little books out of them.

Stacey Dailey I use Art Glitter Glue as well, but it has lots of moisture in it so it tends to wrinkle and warp papers unless you’re gluing down to board or something thick. That’s my experience here in Florida, anyway. Perhaps it’s my humidity.

FINALLY someone explained all the differences between the glues!! You see one crafter using one type all the time and another one using another one all the time. Why? What is it that makes them choose them? And then they mess with your mind and throw in another one to glue something and you're trying to figure out why they would do such a thing. Now I know. I did have one crafter explain that if his Pod Podge is sticky that he puts Clear Gesso over it and it fixes that problem. I haven't had a chance to try that out yet ... something to look forward to. Thanks again for the enlightenment!! 😁

With all respect to you and your research, I never use rubber cement in my any paper projects. It will discolor whatever you put it on, and eventually let go. My first art teacher, way back in college warned us about using it and would not accept projects made with it, as they fell apart. What it is good for is gluing RUBBER. Like when we had rubber stamps & glued them to wood blocks. It is also useful in leather work to glue something together before sewing,

Annie o I agree that YES paste is a high quality adhesive. I took bookbinding classes in Kansas City and the professional bookbinders I met swear by it. I've never had a wrinkle using Yes paste as the water content is super low. The only issue I have with it is the fact that it takes longer to apply because you have to smooth it out to ensure a thin layer--no bumps. When I want something to last for a long time (and maintain its archival properties), I turn to Yes paste.

You should give 3M spray adhesive a try, it works really really well for adhering thin sheets of paper without wrinkling. It is a bit more intense to work with, needs good ventilation and you should wear gloves but it seems to do a decent job for most of my projects.

Thanks for this. adhesives were the first product I researched when I started modern scrapbooking in 2001...Mixed-media, collage and assemblage are the mediums I usually work in. I uswed the Weldbond for a Styrofoam project - worked great. I gave away my Mod Podge - too stinky and sticky for me - I live in the 'humid' Midwest USA...Depends on what I'm attaching to what. In general, I like glue sticks for paper and collage. Then Elmer's white glue, Alene's tacky glue, Beacon 3-in-1, Yes! Paste, E6000, golden soft gel medium (matte), golden heavy gel medium(matte), Liquitex clear gesso, Liquitex white gesso, and hot glue gun. But colored craft staples are my fave for attaching paper and cardstock in my art journals.....Quick and easy....

I use hot glues a lot. I've found that the only way to get a good grip (on just about anything) is to use "high temp" glue gun/sticks. I use the multi-temp (aka: low temp) on things I don't care to have a long life, such as costumes or temporary decor. As you said, hot glues are good for "instant gratification". We all need that from time to time. Thanks for the comic relief, I always love watching your vids. Please keep up the great work.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that you've been hurting. Hope things have gotten better now that it's the weekend. Thanks for your critique of Turbo Tacky. I had heard good things about it, but will now think twice, thanks to you, as it would appear to be not as special as suggested by a friend. IMHO, there is a better alternative to Yes Paste, that being Liquitex Heavy Matte Gel Medium. I know you're suggesting that we should use a clear acrylic spray coat overtop of Mod Podge, but in my experience that has never been an adequate answer, especially in a book. I use a finishing wax very lightly, and a single buff coating has kept pages from adhering to each other for years, no problem. And there's very little setting/drying time. One brand I like using is Microglaze by Judikins. The amount required is very tiny -- teensy weensy tiny. I've had my most recent pot for at least a couple years. Very satisfying. ;)

I am also a UHU fan. I have several bottles of the liquid UHU too. It comes with different tips, one is like a sponge top applicator which I generally hate but, admit that it has it's uses. For large areas, I unscrew the dabber top, squish out a bunch and then use an old credit card to squeegee the glue. It does not wrinkle my paper. I rarely use the stick glue, but now that I've watched you for a while, will use it more. Especially for collaging. I have problems with Low humidity and find that the glue sticks dry out quickly on me. My fave "go-to" glue right now is Quick Grab Tacky Glue. I only have the small sample size bottle and my crafting buddy is bringing a large bottle on her next visit. I'm mildly concerned about the amount of finger strength required to squeeze the large bottle. I can manage the small one but I have virtually no finger strength due to arthritis.

Hi Nik, a great and entertaining video as usual. I use PVA a lot in paper crafts and I use Glossy Accents to put a top coat on paper beads - they are as tough as wooden beads after that. I just bought a UHU glue stick to try out as I use the liquid UHU whenever I want something to stick really well, like when putting a book together. It dries quickly but does give you a little wriggle room. It doesn't warp the paper either.

Hi, Nik! I live in Phoenix, so humidity is not a problem. I made Harry Potter school books for my grand twins. I used the UHU glue stick to adhere the "class schedule" to the inside of a composition notebook. Two days later it was just lying there, no adhesive at all. The back of the schedule and the inside of the book where I stuck it were both just plain dry! My new go to glue stick is the Elmer's Extreme. It sticks fast and stays stuck. Love ya, waiting for the new class!

Great review! I love Weldbond! It doesn't cause paper or card board to buckle or wrinkle and it lets glitter stay shiny when put over top, where as white glue takes the shine away from glitter. I got those two Beacon glues....and I agree...they are exactly the same product.

I hope you are feeling better, get well soon! You are such a hero doing this with an achy mouth, respect! This was very helpful to me though I only know the glue gun, the UHU glue and the Modge Podge (and I don't own that one yet...). My big problem with UHU stick glue is it leaves some residue all over the paper, like little gooey smudges and I have ruined several of my collages trying to clean this, so that it doesn't show. Especially when you try to glue down magazine pages or scraps, a total nightmare... On the other hand I am very content with a no-name transfer and decoupage medium glue I got at a fair and I am really amazed because when it comes to paper it will glue it down and then leave a nice shinny effect if you use it on top. Haven't tried it on really thick paper though... The other glues you showed...I suspect I might have a PVA somewhere around the house. International brands are such a headache, I don't recognise or have seen anywhere in Greece any of the other glues - sigh - ...Discontinued products also are terrible, I totally agree there! Thank you very much for the very helpful preview, I am totally grateful! 🙏🏻💖💛🧡🖌

So glad you are back! I agree with you about YES adhesive. I used to live in the dessicated Mojave and found that everything I made there, using YES was coming apart. Mini-book covers, hinges, pictures, you name-it. I also found that some of the imitation versions of Scor-tape also came detached. Environment is an important factor for adhesives that I never hear discussed. Since I started using Fabri-tac I have become totally converted. I even used it to fix spalling paint at a friends house prior to a house inspection. Sections of very dark paint from 15 years ago went back down all happy and haven't popped. Can't even see the outlines. Any smell it contains? Worth it.

Love heating your take on glues. I love art glitter glue to glue metal, to my books it holds well. Love your bookplate die, wishing I had it.

I love Tombow glues, Art Glitter glue, Uhu sticks, Fabric-Fix, Modpodge, matte gel medium....the list goes on. But different glues work differently depending on where you live! I have recommended glues and the person lives in a humid climate and doesn’t get the same results as my “Arizona dry heat”. So best to purchase small bottles of different glues and try them out to find what works best for you and your project. Climate makes all the difference.

It is always nice to watch reviews of different kinds of products...I have never had any success with any of the Alene’s glues...just tossed out 4 bottles of it (got them on sale and it was a great deal!). 😂

Nik thanks for the glue info I've yet to try the Uhu or the Glossy Accents wondering about uses for applications, especially the Glossy Accents and also wondering how well the Uhu actually worked!! Hoping you feel better soon, we aren't going anywhere, take care of yourself first!

I love this video. You made me laugh, great I use all of your last picks except for the Beacon glue. I don’t like them, I’ve tried getting into them a few times. Thanks for sharing your favorites❤️

We are very low humidity here. I can’t use fabri fix in winter but I can use 3 in 1. No idea why because other than that I see no difference. Yes paste works great here year round but it does have to be SUPER thin, then everything dries nice and flat. Uhu is AMAZING! AnaMaree💜

Your so sweet to share yourself...I love to put my ipad on the shelf above my kitchen sink so you can help make washing dishes an enjoyable chore...almost he he. Hope you feel better soon. Also would you mind giving a bit more info on uhu sticks. I want to invest in them but not sure if permanent or washable are more desirable. Thanks again Nik!
