Employee 63139. Daily Journal. Day 3.
9:12PM I feel numb. I was so distraught over Daves death yesterday I didn't even realize it could affect our work since there is only 3 of us instead of 4. John stayed on the ship again on the terminal to help me and Larry find our way through the facility. I talked with John before we left about what he sees on the terminal radar, apparently he can see both scrap and dangers, I should of talked to John earlier about this, maybe Daves death was because of us not taking this work as serious as we should. Anyways, Larry and I got a lot of scrap today, mostly because of Johns help on the radar. Of course we can't carry all the scrap at once so we had to walk to the ship each time to drop it off. Well, during our last trip Larry told me that he saw an 'apparatus' in the facility and he wanted to grab it, I should of said no. We did have plenty of scrap, we even already finished our quota, we still have 2 days left to make ourselves money. I went along with Larrys decision and followed him back to secure this thing he found, what he didn't mention is that as soon as he took it the whole places power went out, so we were left without lights. I'm not sure what happened yesterday when Larry went into the previous building solo, but he told me he couldn't actually carry the apparatus back to the ship from an injury. I told him to go on ahead back to the ship and I'll grab it. So he did. Only a few moments passed when John said on the walkie that he saw a red dot on the screen approaching Larry and to be careful. I dropped the apparatus and ran to try to find Larry, but it was so dark, I have a flashlight but it barely gives off any light at all, I didn't realize until the power went out how bad it was. I yelled, I yelled so loud I figured the whole building could hear me, but I had no response. I left the facility without the apparatus. John told me on the walkie as I walked back to the ship that Larry is most likely dead from what he is seeing on the radar. So we just left... there was no way I was going to try to recover him. The company fined us for not retrieving his body. It brought us under quota so we have to go do this again tomorrow. I can't even describe how I feel after these past 2 days, it's all been a blur. I wanted to just stay on the ship after we met quota. It's not worth it going back down there. It's not worth it. It's not worth it.
