Colton Winder lives in Utah with his two wives, Tami and Sophie, and their three children. The family believes in plural marriage but it took some time for Sophie and Tami to adjust to life as sisterwives. Sophie told Truly: “The hardest part was realising that Tami and I didn’t know each other very well. We didn’t understand each other's personalities”. Initially this created some tension within the family. Colton said: “There were misunderstandings…sometimes it kind of felt like I was standing in the middle of a tornado”. Communication has been key to the success of this plural marriage, with Colton making time each month to go on dates with both his wives. The family also prioritises spending time with their kids by going to the local farm. Tami told Truly: “Our kids have brought us together, they make us feel like a proper plural family”.

Actually her daughter had issues to start with and had difficulty conceiving. Making assumptions without knowing the story doesn't serve anyone. In addition, this is video which is clearly edited as are all videos. You have no clue what it might have said if it hadn't been edited. Sophie had issues conceiving in the beginning so it's the opposite of what you all are assuming.

I sense a lot of sadness in that house. It’s not a great situation at all in fact it’s very toxic. Why the first wife agreed to that blows my mind To begin with. And if the second wife knew he was married already why would she agree with it it’s messed up in many different ways. Sounds like a crappy deal for the poor woman that's struggling to conceive. Sharing your partner with someone you dislike and having to help raise their children. Definitely didn't sell the lifestyle to me!

They were on a season of sister wives & I felt so awful for the first wife. She was trying to have another baby & struggling (miscarriages & just not getting pregnant) & at the EXACT same time is when he convinced her to let him have a 2nd wife. And this second wife became pregnant immediately WHILE the first was struggling. Edit: after watching this, I see she had ANOTHER baby right after while the 1st wife is still trying.

Yes, I remember them on Sister wives as well. I believe a new season will be airing soon but this family is no longer on the show. The second wife's mom was very rude. It's obvious the first wife has fertility issues, why rub it in her face like that?

She's in one of those religions where the wife obeys the husband. It was so sad when the 2nd was pregnant instantly & you could see the pain in her eyes. According to this video, she still hasn't got pregnant& the 2nd has already had another baby.

Unfortunately this is so similar to what Meri Brown went through. She struggled to get pregnant after her first baby and that guilt led her to a path of plural marriage which ended in diaster for her. This was very sad to watch.

rawuel... she could be setting herself up for a lot of pain and suffering later if he dies ... I think even if he had a will set up she might not have a legal claim to anything because of the state laws . ... and that would mean if the first wife wants she could kick the second wife and her children out , probably if she wanted to be unkind . I don't think the second wife has any legal protection whatsoever and if he has health insurance she wouldn't qualify chances are as the spouse . If he ended up in the hospital half dead or dying she would not have a legal right to speak up for him according to the state laws ... so being the second wife she has put herself in a powerless position ... and that's not fair to her children either .

Here's a fun fact for you that'll hopefully open your eyes. Throughout the ENTIRETY OF HUMAN HISTORY, 95+% of women have procreated. You want to know what the % of men that have procreated is...? IT'S 40! 40% of men have procreated since the dawn of our ancestry. Do you know what that means? Allow me to explain it to you since logic isn't your strong suit. It means MEN SHARED MULTIPLE WOMEN. It means only the best men were allowed to procreate while nearly all the females were procreating. Women flock to the strongest, most well equipped man for survival. This is their basic natural instinct. This is how our species survived. If humans were monogamous since the beggining of time, we would literally have died out. Women naturally want to get with the best male they can, and men naturally want to get with as many women as they can as to spread their seed and lineage. Men and women have different mating objectives and strategies, and our history proves that. Hopefully you learned something from this basic history lesson.

What's sad is how dumb our society has become where opinions like yours get upvoted. Humanity would literally not exist in the way it does today without the practice of polygyny. It's extremely normal and natural for men to have multiple partners/wives, you will find this in literally almost any mammalian species on earth. The alpha male mates with all the women. The strongest genes get passed on. It's quite simple. Men can produce many families at once whereas females can only produce one family at a time. Females pick the best partner they can and mate with them, males mate with as many females as possible. We have different mating strategies. This is all from an evolutionary, naturalistic perspective. This has nothing to do with religion. Open your eyes lady. Read a book. Watch a nature documentary. Don't let liberal Western society brainwash you into thinking humans are exclusively meant for monogamy. Also, how shameful of you to judge others. Who are you to say this is an awful thing when it has been practised since the dawn of time by not only humans but quite literally the entire animal kingdom. How ignorant of you. Have some respect.

Men can produce multiple families a year, women can only produce one. Everything I've ever heard sister wives say about each other - all the bonuses to the lifestyle - could apply to a biological or adopted sister, a sister-in-law, a best friend, or a close neighbor who becomes your best friend without having sex with the same man. This leaves me always wondering why it's so important for women to share a man? The only thing I could come up with is it's a lifestyle that allows women to limit sexual contact for those to would prefer it be limited.

There is a lot of judgement on this comment section. These are adults who are making the decision to do this. They deal with more jealousy than most people but they also do have an abundance of love through their faith and extra support. I completely understand why people do this and I’m not religious at all, even slightly. Raising kids with only two parents or just one is not healthy and many marriages are not healthy. So leave other people up to their own decisions.

I see some comments saying the women are unhappy and are doing it for him. I don't think it is for him, it's for religion. They even admitted it's a struggle, they just put the effort to be ok with their beliefs. You can indeed tell they don't really want each other around, specially first wife.

The psyche of the kid gets more damage when their dad is cheating on their mother with different girls which potentially causes breakups and that is the ultimate psychological damage to a kid at least this way he is committing to them both

He gets to go on ALL the dates and ALL the vacations while the women get to go on only the ones that pertain to them, like an anniversary, and stay home with all the kids the other times. Sounds like a sweet deal for him.

This is so unhealthy. Putting the “religious” beliefs aside. This can never work. It may be fine for the man but women are not biologically designed to share a mate. So many issues arise. And the children suffer the most.

If my husband said let bring another wife in to our marriage I would be visiting my lawyer. I have 2 sisters and they were a nightmare to live with I would end up hurting someone probably my husband if we did this. I suppose on the flip side the wives have a partner to give the husband hell. But each to their own I suppose. 🤷♀️

Bc its all about him. It sounds like the wives didnt even know each other well when the second wife was moved in which isnt how actually healthy poly-living-together relationships work. While Im not in the lifestyle myself, I've known several group dynamics that function much better than this bc everyone is valued and respected equally. A new partner should not be brought in at all if they will damage the original relationship

I can’t believe how many hater’s there are making comments on here, when all the same emotions they accuse this family of are also a part of a monogamous relationship. I’m monogamous and I can tell you life isn’t perfect in our relationship either. I think it would be great for my wife to have a sister (wife) to help out and build a relationship with, as well as even myself to have a relationship with. Sometimes we expect too much out of one person. Adding another to our relationship I think would be extremely challenging as well as extremely rewarding for all three individuals, but I think with a net positive experience in life as a whole.
