Hello again ladies and gentlemen, I am back from the dead! Well, not quite that. Having stopped uploading to my film criticism channel for 2 1/2 years, I've decided to make a return. I can't believe how much time has passed, and the wonderful reception the channel continued to have on its own. Nearly 1000 subscribers since I stopped! Thanks everyone for watching and hope you look forward to the future uploads. If your new, go check out the 100+ reviews, analysis and unboxing videos at my channel!

Glad to see you back i used to love your channel and discovered a lot of great movies from your videos, I actually started watching Akira Kurosawa filmography after your Asian film marathon you did a number of years ago which then opened up Asian cinema to me.

Great to see you back! I have been watching your channel for years but never commented before. Will be great to see you review films again. I prefer classic cinema so i look forward to your upcoming content on the channel. More lists would be great also but whatever you upload i will watch. Thanks for the video!

Hope you enjoyed the previous work and thank you for watching! Up first I think may be a video on the films of Mike Leigh.

@@ThomasPollock95 Yes you made many great videos! And that sounds wonderful. I have been meaning to fully delve into his work for years and was going to finally start soon so it should be interesting to hear your thoughts. I have actually only seen Abigails Party (1977) which i absolutely love. Watched it for the first time when i was younger. I have heard many great things about his feature films so i am really looking forward to this. Take care.

@@cinearts1173 Abigails party was great and shows exactly what kind of films he wanted to make for most of his career! I'm in two minds to do a video analysing one film or just look at the grand themes of all his films.... maybe both? My favourite is Secrets & Lies and I feel I could do a standalone video of that too.

@@ThomasPollock95 Yeah i usually review each film from a particular director and then do a ranking video after, which i find is my favourite approach. Whatever works though! In any case i am interested in hearing your thoughts.

I have not seen your entire output on Japanese cinema, but here are some directors I recommend... Keisuke Kinoshita Mikio Naruse Hiroshi Shimizu Mamoru Hosoda (animation) Makoto Shinkai (animation) The animators and Keisuke Kinoshita get my highest recommendation.

I have to say I haven't heard of Kinoshita! I've only seen one Naruse film so I will definitely explore his work soon.

@@ThomasPollock95 You really need to check out Kinoshita's movie Twenty Four Eyes. Takes place over a 20 year period from the 1920s till soon after World War 2. It's about a teacher and her students

I'm going to make 2 separate comments here. First off, I gotta say that "the Best Years of Our Lives" is the best film of 1946. And definitely deserved the Oscars over "It's a Wonderful Life"(as much as I love that movie)

I ended up watching it last night and it was fantastic! It deserved its length didn't feel overlong at all. I wouldn't of minded it being slightly longer I got very invested towards the middle of the film. There's something quite progressive in thought seeing how soon after the war it was made. Check out the documentary FIVE CAME BACK. I know Wyler filmed parts of the war.
