I'm Back In Landour | A Tale Of Monsoons & Mussoorie

Yes ! I'm back in Landour .
Nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas, Landour is a small cantonment town in Mussoorie. From pine forests to vintage cottages to cozy bakeries, Landour seems like an old colonial town lost in time. The winding roads, the fresh mountain air and the fact that Landour is in a no-new-construction zone, have made it possible to preserve its old world charm and character for so many decades.
Despite coming here for half a dozen times, I've never been here in the rains. And like the last few episodes, I'm keen on experiencing the mountains in monsoons. So once again I'm back to romancing this town frozen in time and as always even this time I'll be staying away from the popular tourist places of Mussoorie. Accompanying me will be some old friends, a cup of honey ginger lemon tea, and a lot of lovely mist-laden walks.
Let The Monsoon Magic Begin :)
It's true that Uttarakhand is opening up for tourism, but is it safe to travel during Covid. Well we are not here to give you GYAAN on travelling amidst pandemic. But it goes without saying that if possible please avoid travelling for some more time. Still if you have to, please travel responsibly - not only for your own sake but for others as well.

I went mussoorie in June and the interesting thing after north Bengal it is one of the place where I can get the smell of my own state... When I came Delhi The land of Ruskin Bond was my main target😁😁.. After 5 months continuous work finally I got 1week leave... And this was the best way how I spent my Holiday... Still missing the place... Want to go every year...

NOSTALGIA for sure - For all of us who have spent a good part of our life's on the beautiful hill towns in India, that feeling is what keeps calling us back - one can never get enough of the beauty of the post Raj era that brings back our childhood memories of going to schools on the hills ... Many of us go back a longggggg way - its a very heart warming feeling. The baby boomer generation, of course for sure, and lets give credit to some millenials too, who are nostalgia driven or nature lovers - will thus be beckoned by the mountains and get the feeling of home away from HOME ! (BTW your vlog photographer is doing a fantastic job of capturing & editing the clips, beautifully:)

I think you have found an amazing host there. She really knows how to make her guests part of her family. She goes out of her way to show you around the town and discover hidden places. This is something that is not seen in most homestays which operate more or less like hotels and are mostly run by caretakers.

Landour seems to be a wonderful place that has kept you motivated as you have been there many a times.. Nature's a bliss is a gift of the God. As rightly said one's no control over it.Nature will guide you as per its perception. Any moment can turn your plans topsy turvey..So accordingly one has to be be prepared and equipped. The pathways in itself are fascinating and above all adventurous that gives a feel of any situation that may arise.... Your abound enjoyment at home stay speaks volumes of satisfaction you might have got at such a mesmerizing place.. Great .... Abhishek...

I know how magical that palce is..be it watching the sunset on Lal Tibba..or honey ginger lemon tea or chocolate pancakes at Anil's cafe..or walking those trails over and over again...or changing moods of weather every now and then..or that fragrance of winters..or mesmerzing colors of skies when one can spend lifetime watching it..I guess it will never be enough no matter how many times one has been there..no moment is gone by when you're not smitten by something..such is this place..!! Thanks to Ruskin Bond..I fell in love with Landour! And now thanks to you for bringing back the nostalgia of what it felt like being there for the first time!:)

The monsoons are truly magical in the Himalayas. You don't get a view of the mighty Himalayan ranges in the backdrop but the greenery more than makes up for it. Nature simply comes alive during monsoon. It's always a pleasure to explore the mountains while it's raining. Just need a poncho and a waterproof hat.
