Pretty sure your air bounces come from your pull through. You absolutely do not want to have your front leg locked out the entire time. It is bent in an athletic position and then straightened using the opposing force of the ground going up into the throw. You’re asking for a knee injury practicing that. Your reach back is just a bit high to low. In a perfect world you either pull through straight or from a little low to high while keeping good nose angle.

Could not agree more with this comment. Number one thing I'd recommend would be to exaggerate a much lower reach back in form work since he's so comfortable with his current swing and it's super tough to break that. I'm working through the exact same problem.

Sometimes you may find it helpful to force your body to throw completely differently. Like, totally different. Not even how you want your form to look, but so different that you kind of "break through" your muscle memory. Being able to see any kind of change from your normal form can be really encouraging along the process. You've got this!

Go watch Overthrow's video on brace, so you don't blow your knee out. For me it works automatically if I just think of it like I'm pressing the ball of my right foot (RHBH) into the ground. Also; extending your last step more can help!

For the bag problem; Get some stuffsacks from any outdoor company (should be like $10 for 5 or something). Put towels and whatnot in the stuffsack. Put the stuffsack in the main compartment of your discgolf bag. Problem solved. It'll take the space of anywhere from two to six discs, depending on how full you shove it.

PSA to anyone struggling with Discmania’s C-Line plastic, I’m finding that the color matters. It’s different on some of the molds, such as the FD. I haven’t tried every color, but I found that green was the most stable and purple being the straightest

If you do decide that you need to straighten out your brace leg, try and think of ending up with your right hip higher than your left hip. This will make sure that your leg gets straightened out without locking your knee. About the in-line putt, Gannon throws his elbow from the side if his body more than what you're doing, which looks more like Calvin's putt.

So in answer to your questions .... A straight fairway... Depending on the distance Crave, STD, CD1 cline, rain stone, Saint pro, night stone.... As far as the air bounce goes if you noticed your better throws go high follow through or swing through lower minimally to keep the nose down. And then let the regular follow through happen at the end... Keep the knee bent where it is comfortable ... If you keep it straight you will injure it

For the straight to a little OS fairway you could try the Sky Walker FD1 or Rage Stone (Lux vapor FD1), could probably also be the stock S-line FD1, i haven't tried those myself but it should be pretty close to the Sky walker AFAIK.

Tbh, you naturally have an air bounce throw. Your back swing goes up. Obviously it's not hurting you too bad because you are able to get the leading edge down enough. Just make sure you are not rolling your thumb through the disc, pulling the nose up.

@@seymourglass26 I have thrown a Crave in neutron plastic that flew like the -1,1 turn and fade, but mainly I throw them in glow plastic and fission plastic, both of which fly more like 0,0.5 or 0,1 for me at first, and then 0,0 when beat in for a month or two. The Insanity and Passion look like longer Craves, but I can see how they could be "flippy"ish depending on your arm speed.

Ya, definitely don’t want to throw 100% of your weight onto a straight leg. Think a long controlled slide with your front leg where when your release your weight off the back leg you push down in the back leg which forces your hips to rotate

I don't think you want to have your knee locked out like that from the get. That's a recipe for a pretty serious injury. You want to push the knee back as you brace. The reason you haven't done that is likely that your lead foot isn't getting out in front of you enough and so you're on top of the brace a little too much.
@micdavey
@micdavey Ай бұрын
Saying that though, I think your "air bounce" is more from your throw going high to low from your reach back to release
@eoghana315
@eoghana315 Ай бұрын
Yeah don't lock your knee out. I think his airbounces are caused by a combo of dipping slightly mid swing and some reverse pivoting. His follow through looks stunted. I think he might want to focus on swinging outward as well as ripping across.

SkyWalker aka Horizon FD1 is one of the best fairway drivers. Really good torque resistance, good amount of glide and mild fade. Nothing like C-line FD1's. Also those EO2023 metal flake FD's are money. Best version of FD from the current line up. A bit flatter than S-line or C-line and flightwise between those two. Not too flippy and not too beefy.

try to time your reachback so it reaches peak when or after your foot plants. your arm is waiting for your plant, robbing you of speed, and the weight shift is contributing to your swooping motion. maybe you're pulling instead of pushing the disc? this is an extremely common misconception of backhand form. pushing may also help you feel the bracing of the plant. timing tho... plant first.
