QUESTION - How far apart do you start the seeds so that when one say, tomato plant, is finishing the next is starting to produce? Ive never needed to worry as I canned & froze what I grew for my family & mom. Now my boys have their own places & family so it's just hubby and me. I can no longer do canning. I would LOVE to do the freeze dried system, but $$$ won't allow it (too much $$$ to medicine & mobility aids). Anyways I want a plant or two of tomatoes, green beans, crook neck summer squash, zucchini, and corn. Maybe pinto beans for canning (their easy) so I want to go out pick the veggies and cook them for dinner.

Jason the Amish in Tennessee use coolers. I think it would work perfectly for your eggs. I would take an empty milk jug and clean it and fill with water and freeze then place it in the cooler each morning with your eggs. That should keep them plenty cool. You could just swap out 2 jugs and keep one in the freezer. Just a thought!🍳🥚

The thing is, having the glass front on the fridge helps sales because folks know they can see from the car whether there are any eggs. I'm convinced that's a factor in why sales have really amped up. They need an outdoor-rated fridge, which is expensive and may not be cost-effective.
@backroads_traveler
@backroads_traveler 6 ай бұрын
@@victoriabaker4400 Unfortunately those glass front fridges will not take the abuse of being outside, even if they are a commercial fridge, and though they’re a little bit tougher, on the exterior, they’re also a lot more finicky. I used to own an appliance store and all the outdoor fridges that we recommended were a used top and bottom, freezer on the top refrigerator on the bottom that is at least 10 years old, the reason being is the newer fridges just can’t take the abuse of being outside.

But this broken refrig still would be great for farm stand. And use a flatter ice container s/a gell pack for injuries would be smaller than a gallon milk jug and would not leak. 😊

It's smart to 'know your market and proceed accordingly'. The first year is a sharp learning curve. The farm stand is a new and wonderful concept. Your community is fortunate you offer such quallity items. I admit I am experiencing a bit of fresh vegetable envy. I could easily be a vegetarian. (I started a crockpot of soup a few hours ago. I realized I didn't add any chicken. So I added more vegetables instead.) Jason, you are literally living your dream. Well-deserved indeed!

My Papa always had a huge garden, he would have people pull up in the street and ask if he sold vegetables. He would fill a sack with whatever was ripe, and they could pay what they had. He loved the entire process of growing a garden, and would use the money for more seeds. He’s gardening in heaven now, I carry on the tradition.

Jason, idea for your eggs on the food stand. Just get a cooler and freeze milk jugs of water to keep cool. No melting ice to get the cartons wet. A frozen milk jug of water will last several days in the shade. Just an idea! I use this method to keep my coolers when camping. I just keep several jugs in the freezer. I also use them to transfer to the frig if the power goes out. Several milk jugs will keep a frig cold enough for several days if you keep the doors closed.

This would be so very interesting and educational for children of all ages. It might get them very intruded and therefore get their parents involved also. Especially since groceries are so expensive and sometimes more than not are not at all as good from the store. Young adults and children would be so much more apt to eat a fresh grown vegetable that has a great flavor. Wishing Brooke a huge get well. I think about her often and she gas been in my prayers. Good thing you are getting Peach's approval, she has high farm standards. The garden sounds so lovely. I love seeing the seed selections. The farm stand is going to be rocking come this summer. 💖💖💖

Hearing the wonderful sound of the rain on your tin roof immediately made me sleepy, lol. Such a soothing sound. Thanks for another great video! I especially enjoy seeing all the animals. Jessie is so precious, they all are! God bless you all! From Canadice, NY ❤

I would work for free in the garden for fresh vegetables to get experience if I lived close. We don't really have farmers' markets or local farm stands in our area. Butternut squash makes a great substitute pumpkin pie.

Love the song "Birds Singing in the video and the closeups of all your animals. Very nice video. When you started talking about the community, the utube channel, and all that, I thought you were about to cry. I was right there with you. Your farm is amazing, and the community seems the same. I hope the girls get feeling 100 % real soon God Bless
