I went through the same thing recently and started letting my hair lock in June. I was rocking 2strand forever and my barber was saying loc up loc up. I finally say f it, the less maintenance and ease of care was the big one for me. The versatile styles etc. you were a big part of my hair growth on the first place and now the loc journey too, definitely coping some product when they drop.

I feel like dreads or locs is way simpler than natural hair cause u don't have to worry about taken down ur hair after every style u get.. dreads u simply just wash and get retwist but the downside is if u have longer dreads them retwist can take up to hours and might be a lil bit expensive but it will be worth it

@@KingBril the hair is are antennas if you know TV I’ve never seen a TV get good reception with bent and broken and twist antennas on top of that if you look at old pictures of Egyptians the hair was in braids before it got started to get matted into locs and as we both know if you keep braids in to long it will start to loc up Egyptians was above this hair style and lived a more royal life this hair style wouldn’t even be acceptable in that timeline think about it a king wouldn’t even be able to put hes crown on correctly that’s way braids was more ideal because it was able to lay down well to be able to put the crown on the hair style has fooled every one to think this is was the way to wear are hair it it isn’t and if you are a plant or a tree you know no tree would survive with that much manipulation of breaking and twisting that’s why over time as the hair row the hair would start to try to push all the bad hair to the side making room for new growth because the hair has died on top of the the Egyptians never had the tool to be able to form locs and do it nicely so it started with braids then when they passed away it naturally got matted and loc up over time

Best decision you can make with your hair. I use to have braids and followed your channel, now I’m 11 months locked. If you deep condition your hair make sure a loctician does it. They use deep condition products specifically for locs. If you use normal deep condition products your hair will more than likely struggle locking or won’t lock up like that.

I had a feeling you might be getting loc when I recently saw your released loc product. I had my locks for 5 years before I cut them a while back. My hair was the longest it’s ever grown and like you, I mastered them. Had e v e r y hairstyle and never paid a loctician because my mom and girl I was with all those years did my hair and ALWAYS kept my hair clean as an athlete. Nobody had better locks than me. I do have to say, unless you are deeply committed, you too will get bored of them eventually unless you can maintain your “this is my style” about them. Much love.

At the very least dilute the heeeelllll out of the conditioner! Starter locs can hold buildup deep in your locs and you don’t want that bc it can look gunky and smell down the road. Some people incorporate more conditioner after a year+ (aka it’s easier to use it straight out the jar at that time) bc your locs have formed and will hold less deep in the loc. But that first year or two is crucial and you def wanna at least make the conditioner watery. I use the redken “ACIDIC BONDING CONCENTRATE LIGHTWEIGHT LIQUID CONDITIONER” bc it’s so light but it fortifies the hair beautifully! It’s a rinse out conditioner, not a deep conditioner, but it’s effectively the same for my locs without leaving any kind of buildup. You can feel an immediate difference in your hair even though it’s so light!
