From my experience going to the jungle (in Surinam) I can tell you this (sorry if my grammar isn't right, English isn't my first language): 1. Take an after bite for mosquitos with you, this really helps. 2. Stay away from still standing water. 3. Take long socks and long jeans with you, always do the socks OVER your jeans so nothing can get it. 4. Be careful with pulling leaves, there can be a bee nest. 5. If you see an wild animal stay calm, don't bother them and most of the times they won't bother you. So just watch, don't try to pick a snake up with a stick or something. 6. Take care products without any smell with you. 7. Always check your shoes for insects/animals before you wear it. 8. Take plastic bags with you, do things like your phone or underwear in it so it can't get wet and animals/insects can't get in. 9. Don't just stand on tree's that fell down on the path, try to go over it without standing on it because it can move/its slippery and you can fall. 10. You probably know this but watch your step! Always look at the path because there are a lot of obstacles and holes. And the most important, enjoy your journey! The jungle is a beautiful place. I'm sure you'll love it! I hope this was helpful.

If you need another travel companion - I'm available 😏 Things you should think about: - learn a few things in spanish; nobody really speaks english - Costa Ricans call themselves "ticos" - I hope you like rice with beans; you are probably going to eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner (it's called "gallo pinto") - mosquito repellent (very important) - a socket adapter (in case you find electricity in the jungle) - be prepared for a hot and humid climate and a lot of rain - be prepared for a very different style of driving cars
