By pure chance I saw this back in 2013 when it won the first KZfaq Award, beating Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga--every Western pop superstar. At the time I was amazed and impressed by the performance, the style, the originality---but then I forgot about it because in general I'd lost any interest in ANY pop music years before, so it didn't register with me as anything other than a random piece of pop-culture brilliance--I was too busy being old, and busy with 'real life' to pay any more attention than the duration of the video itself. BUT, weirdly, at the beginning of this year, 2019, I re-'discovered' SNSD, and have been captivated by them ever since. There's a great deal of talent in K-Pop now, there has been for a while, and there are some great, currently under-rated Korean artists that predate SNSD, but they IMHO really are a foundational group for the present scale international popularity of K-pop---and although SNSD as a whole aren't active now, their influence is present and significant---and there's still reasonable hope that OT8 will return to "break the mold" once again.
