I’m IN LOVE with PO 🥲

As a martial artist when this movie first came out I rolled my eyes hard, but damn I was wrong. This movie is so stuffed with true martial arts philosophy I consider it a must for parents to show their kids, and somehow the sequels are even better. And yes I cry watching this masterpiece.

I know that Tigress seems like a cruel, heartless person at first, but when you understand where she came from, and how she worked to earn her position, it starts to slowly but surely make more sense why she had such disdain and bitterness towards Po at first. She warms up to him later though👍🏾

I was 13 when I first saw this movie in theaters. I cried when I saw Master Oogway basically become one with the Force. His wisdom hits me every time, even down to the golden dragon scroll. There's no secret to success; you are your greatest weapon. In other news, Jack Black will be the voice of Bowser in a Super Mario movie produced by Illumination. And recently, James Hong got to voice Mr. Gao in Turning Red.

Fun fact: the furious five are based on the actual Shaolin animal styles of Kung-Fu, those being Tiger Style, Crane Style, Mantis Style, Monkey Style, and Viper Style. There isn’t a Panda style, but Po’s fighting style does mimic that of the Dragon Style

The second and third movies hold up with this one! Excellent voice cast in all of them. Can’t watch it until later tonight but excited to see this one! Cheers!

One of the things I truly love about this film is the different realizations that Po and Tai Lung have when they first see the Dragon Scroll. Po looks at it, sees himself, and says, "Its blank." A blank space upon which wisdom can be added. A space to be filled." Tai Lung, on the other hand, says, "Its nothing." Null. Void. Valueless. Its my belief that Tai Lung will never understand the lesson of the scroll, ever.

The furious five is a nod to The Five Deadly venoms and to the different styles of Kung-Fu.

Tai Lung was really a tragic character. He was raised being told he was destined to be the dragon warrior and being pushed to train as hard as physically possible till his bones cracked. Shifu filled his head with dreams and turned him into what he is. When Oogway told Shifu that Tai Lung wasn’t the dragon warrior his whole world shattered. To Tai Lung it was his singular purpose for his entire life.

Shifu's only mistake was not seeing what tai lung was turning into because of his love for him. He picked him up from the road when he was a baby, he raised him, taught him kung fu but i think lung's obsession with becoming the dragon warrior drove him to madness, hungry for power and that's how it happened

It’s such a good lesson from this movie bcos Po was doubting his qualities so much at the start especially how big he is 😢 but it turned out to be such a big benefit in the end to beat Tai Lung 🙌❤️

I love this movie and 2/3 are good to. The specials are solid holiday special was cute and the TV shows are funny and fun to. Basically I love this franchise and I'm an adult to lol. The storys. Characters, music, animation, drama, writing, tone, over the top comedy, morals, themes, and acting are great. Only issues are some jokes and pacing here and there. Could be a bit longer to. Love this franchise and you are in for a real treat with 2 escaplly. 3 was very good to but not as strong as 1 and 2 were.

That scene with Shifu and Po eating at the end - how have I never seen that?

Something i noticed is that the trainign dummy, which looks like a bear, uses the style Po will master later. Namely, it uses the force of Po's second punch to bounce off the wall and return it right back to him, using his own force against him. Po even does the exact same thing at the start of thew fight with Tai lung! Takes a hit, bounces off a pillar, then knocks the cat across the room. He even makes the same bounce sound.

I love everything about this film except master sifu's name. Sifu means master in Chinese, so his name is master master

Kung Fu Panda is EASILY my favourite animated trilogy ever. Always love seeing people's first reactions to them and your reactions are great. you are fun to watch, but you stay yourself and don't exaggerate. I also love how Po is the hero. he isn't some form of buff, heroic legend. he isn't the ultra cool superhero. he isn't huge character arc about being better. he is just a regular, fat panda who happens to be a kung fu fanboy. he never becomes a self-focussed hero. he never becomes a cool, secure master. he stays a regular, fat, kung fu fanboying panda. but he grows to be HIM and nothing else. and I also love how growth is not limited to the hero/main character. there is growth in LITERALLY every character. And this first movie is not about fighting. it's not about being a hero. it's all about accepting oneself AND accepting others, which is such a good message for a kid's movie (albeit these movies get even better when watching them as an adult). And one thing I REALLY like, is that the villains aren't full "I am evil", but aren't full "I have a sad backstory that made me this way" either. they take elements for both. like Tai Lung. sure he has sad backstory that made him driven to madness to achieve the greatness his master promised him. but he himself also chose to continue on this path. yet you can still empathise with him on some level. ESPECIALLY in the brief moment where he calms down and thinks after shifu apologizes. and I'd hold the villain from the second movie as one of, if not thé best animated villain of all time. also "one often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it" this basically is the slogan of the entire series. starting with the first movie: - shifu wants to prevent tai lung from escaping. yet by sending the bird, tai lung's escape was made possible - po tried to be not him. "if anyone could make me... nót me, it's you!", exactly this mindset is what got him to be himself - shifu originally didn't want po as the dragon warrior and tried to push him out. but in doing so, all he did was strengthen po and his dragon warrior status - tai lung felt like his destiny was to be the dragon warrior. yet in getting the dragon scroll, he faces the fact that he is not the dragon warrior - mr ping wants po to be a noodle person, yet in telling him his noodle secret, he got po to be the real dragon warrior basically anything master oogway says is gold. this serie is so full of wisdom and life lessons. ESPECIALLY the second movie. but above all: the movies are NOT afraid to go dark and depressing. they have their sad points and they aren't afraid to hold any punches. when you think about it, some parts are REALLY dark and depressing. but the movies implement it so well that it never stands out as "oh we have to be edgy and sad for movie sake."

This movie penalizes quick liars "Noodles is what I was dreaming about" and those who pause to celebrate (Po at the gate.) You are correct, The Snow Leopard does not miss-he only lost because it was Po's script.

That bloody scroll had more of a character arc than any of the Disney SW characters from the last three films...

Not a Jack Black yet but, for a few things. This is one. I'm missing your wrinkly hair though. I married a wrinkly haired girl who gets pissed when people ask her how she gets her hair to do that. So much so that most of the time her hair is chopped off shorter than mine just so she doesn't have to deal with it. Love this story, love these characters. Love the look. Music is okay.
