Thank you for the support!
I guess I’ve had a bit of a nervous week, it’s really hitting home that I will be leaving my cottage l in just 4 months. It’s crazy to think about, and while I am so happy to be potentially having a new home, change is SO HARD. It is freaking me out, but I am taking deep breaths. It’s funny how you can want two things at the same time: to change and grow, but also for things to stay the same forever. If you have not seen my previous videos, I am getting married and moving into a new home this year, after over 2 years at my cottage. So many mixed feelings, but it is also a wonderful reminder that I am alive to feel these emotions, and that is a beautiful gift.
This video was a collaboration with my brother, Rohan. He has a channel now! linktr.ee/roha...

It is such a gift to allow yourself to be honest with your feelings, fears, joys, etc. We are too quick to think fears, sadness, or other “negative” emotions are a bad thing, but it’s important we allow ourselves to feel them and process them. It took me 40+ years to learn that. I enjoy your videos and the wisdom you have at such a young age. That is such a gift. Thank you for sharing, and for being willing to be vulnerable.

I too have been having similar feelings, it's kinda funny that I am getting married at about the same time as you. I have also wanted 2 things at the same time. I love my fiance and want to be with him everyday but I also love the comfort of being home with my family, the unknown about getting a house and where to live has been stressful. Change is very scary and hard even if you are looking forward to it at the same time.

My dear Paola. You left me speechless today. Your video have touched home and my heart in so many ways. Yo soy de apellido Morales from Puerto Rico tambien and your comments regarding your abuela's background also run in my own family. I am proud to say that I am the cycle breaker. I can't go on because it's too emotional but I wish you so many blessings and continued success now and in your future home. Todo estara Bien!!! Voy a ti!!

One of the saddest feelings I get is that last look at somewhere I’ve lived before closing the door for the last time. It always fades away but in the moment, no matter how much I’m excited for the new home, it makes me feel like I’m leaving a little piece of me behind. I think it’s because we put so much of ourselves into our spaces.

I know exactly what you mean. When my grandmother was sick and we had to sell her house, I remember standing in the middle of the living room. Everything was moved out at this point and the memories came flooding back. Christmas, Easter, family gatherings. It was very emotional 😢

I left my home of over two years this summer to move across the country with my husband. The day we finally cleared everything out and finished cleaning it was just starting to get dark and I was so sad leaving that place. Like you said, it doesn't last long but it was a deep pain. Like saying goodbye to someone you love. When I visit home I drive by just to see it.

I totally get this feeling. Even closing the door on a place I lived for a short time, I still LIVED and GREW in that space. I feel the same about towns/cities I've lived in and how a piece of my soul remains there when I go away.

Change is always hard, especially when it involves leaving a place that feels like home. You get so used to the way life is, your routine, the smells around you, the sights, the sounds. And suddenly it's all gone. For me, I try to focus on the excitement that change brings. All the new opportunities that will come that wouldn't have had I not made these changes. Anything can happen, and although it's scary, it makes life that much more exciting. I wish you all the best, Paula. I can't wait to see all the new adventures that your life will bring you soon! Thank you as always for sharing these little parts of your heart and soul with us. 🥰

Wow. Your abuela’s story of cutting generational curses is inspiring. I’m doing the same. It’s so difficult but worth it because I know my children won’t go through the same as me. In our Latino culture there is so much beauty but also stories of struggle and sadness. It’s so beautiful that you can honor your grandma and it’s so awesome that you can reap her harvest of blessings. ❤️

Hi Paola, I'm writing to say hello from the most rural place in NZ. We both have a common love for rural life. I grew up in the most busy city in VN - Sai Gon but I decided to leave city life forever and started a country life in NZ. We live in a little house on the top of the hill. It wasn't easy to handle rural life as a city girl but I received help from lovely neighbours. I'm happy to find you here, I feel we have a special connection. You helped me to find the calmness after a busy day at work. I wish to meet you one day. My best wishes and congrats to your own most beautiful home on earth ❤️🏡

Yes, your cottage is home, and "Home is where the heart is." Some people though, have a gift; they take "home" with them wherever they go, you've got that gift. It shows in your cottage, your words, art, and videos we all love. So many people love the peace, calm and centered self that you project so beautifully, and are so willing to share, I hope you know how much we all want you to feel us sending it back to you. You will make a beautiful new home, with parts of the other for this new phase of your life, I'm sure of it. Thank you so much for sharing it all, and for being yourself. That's a blessing for all of us!

Over the past two weeks I have discovered the Cottage Fairy and watched all of your videos. And I was patiently awaiting this weeks. My cat, Sonny recognizes the music every time and sits right in front of the TV to watch the animal and nature segments. The month of December 2021 was a very difficult one for me but when I found your videos it really helped me ground myself and identify what I want out of my life. Thank you so much for creating these videos. I feel like we would be friends if we knew each other in person, thanks again 🌿❤️ -Eva from Wisconsin

Your videos are always so beautiful and inspiring. I am Puerto Rican and was born and raised in the island, but currently reside in the states. After a long history of generational trauma all I wanted to do was disconnect from my culture and not associate with the parts that had been so hurtful. But after watching your videos I began falling in love with my culture all over again. I want to feel connected to my roots more than ever before and appreciate the beauty and the gifts my culture has to provide. The food, the music and the values of family connection and hospitality are something I never want to lose. So thank you for reminding me through your videos how amazing and enriching the Puerto Rican culture is. You are making a beautiful impact on this world through your videos. May God continue to bless your gifting.

Mi querida Paola, qué bien poder escucharte en español! Me encantó escucharte.

May I make a request/suggestion? I love your paintings, your outlook and words of wisdom, and your recipes for teas, treats, oils etc. It would be lovely for you to create a small recipe book with recipes you've learned from old books, your family and culture as well as some things you've created and to have a thought or verse on each page before it. To make the book that much more of a keepsake, to add your drawings, paintings and sketches framing the recipes or as pages within the book would be lovely. I would cherish a book like that if you were ever to make it and it would be a wonderful display of your talents. I know this isn't something that is easy but I would be first in line to purchase one if you ever did create it. Thank you for another lovely video😊

Wow...This gave me such hope. My husband and I both are "cycle-breakers", and it has been HARD... Probably one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. But we decided the abuse, trauma, and pain will stop with us, and not continue on through our children. I truly hope someday, my grandchildren will say "My grandparents came from a difficult place, but they made it through and here I am". Thank you for this beautiful video

Growing up in your valley, I can remember snow so deep we could make tunnels and mini-igloos on the playground. Obviously, i was a child, so my sense of size and scale may be way off, but I loved all of the snow. Of course, I didn’t have to drive in it or worry about pipes freezing like my parents did! The barn renovation sounds so fun! I cannot wait to see that you and Luke accomplish! Thanks for all of your content Paola! 🙏🦊🍄✨

My meditation teacher is a beautiful monk. He says that breathing is an act of love, and when facing uncertainty, change, or suffering, we can allow the breath to flow through any confusion, pain or doubt. Not to fix, or get rid of, but to love it. Breathe into your changes. Thank you for allowing us into parts of your life, we are all richer for it. I hope that even when you have moved, these will continue. Blessings.

Your cottage and the happiness you knew there will always have a warm place in your heart and your memories. But we can only go forward with hope and determination and make our dreams come true. I know you'll do well! I look forward to seeing the magical and loving environment you and Luke will create out of that barn and I am so grateful to you for sharing with us! It will be such a joy to build your home together, believe me! I do know what you mean though...about wishing things could stay the same...in a perfectly happy moment of peace and bliss....and yet we yearn to grow and learn and deepen our experience of life and change is necessary to achieve that. I'm in a strangely similar spot. My husband's much older than me and struggling with multiple illnesses which will ultimately take his life. He is frail and I spend much of my time caring for him. We are so happy together and this time we've had has literally been the love I always dreamed of when I was a girl; I saw him in a vision when I was just 13 years old, though I did not meet him until 24 years later. Yet I know this story will end. I want to cling to moments of peace and comfort together but I know I cannot. I feel stuck in some ways, unable to move forward with my life because he cannot walk with me--at least, not much further. I know change is coming and it will be brutal. Yet part of me knows I will find a way to thrive, heal and grow. It's all the cycle of life. And it's good to still be alive. Cheers, Paola! Everything will be okay.

@@linasurvilaite2937 Actually same here! I had to move 2 hours away from my hometown where I've lived for 18 years. It was a very big change and in the midst of traffic I do miss the quiet forest walks where I used to live. I think the key to making things feel less scary and new is to find the old and comforting that may still be in your new life, best wished to you!

Paola: que hermoso video. Me senti tan orgullosa de ti y fue bien lindo escucharte hablar español. Thank you! thank you so much for your videos they do so much good on me. that pudin de pan looks so good... now yo tengo antojo!!! I also have a very old puertorrican cuisine book that even has a burner mark in the back. Dios Te Bendiga!!! Thank your parents for their service. I actually work in a VA hospital in Florida taking care of veterans and I know all the sacrifices that they had made to serve their country. My husband is a veteran as well and I consider him my hero and always do my best because they deserve our best.

Dear Paola, I have a question about the music you play on your videos. It matches the mood and ambiance of your videos perfectly. Where did you find such devine music? I love everything about your expression, you are so wise! You are a great role model for your generation. I am a grandmother and I am telling all my family (mostly the grands) to watch your videos for support for their own situations they are going through. They would listen to you more that us older generation! Thank you so much!!

There is a lot to be said for comfortable places--familiar and cozy. As you grow older you find that those places stay close to your heart. They are the things you remember in hard times and in good times. The thing you strive for--safety and sure. But we are creatures that must change. And when we do--like the little caterpillar, we experience amazing things!!! Especially love! It feels so good to stretch and grow. So excited, little caterpillar, to see you grow and change and take that next step into the unknown knowing that there is so much love behind you.

I’m always delighted to see your videos and perspective on life, but this one really touched me. I could see the nervousness in your eyes when talking about having a home but also the excitement and heartfelt gratitude that you will have your own home! How excited I am for you both. There is nothing to be ashamed about when the best option you have is to live on family property or even with family. I’ve been in that situation several times as I’ve tried to navigate life. My husband and I have talked about buying land next to my family side as it has been in the family for a long long time. I wish more people didn’t look down upon it, mostly in the US, as so many other countries have multigenerational homes. Also, I wish I had as wise and as kind of a friend as you when I was younger. Wishing you the best.

Living around family is a blessing when there is genuine love. But it is when family are on the Dark Side of the Force that there comes too much pain, manipulated feelings, double standards, etc for there to be any joy. I speak from experience.

@@a.katherinesuetterlin3028 You are right, not everyone is blessed with a blood related family that is actually filled with joy and love. Sadly there are so many broken families. I just found your video. Yesterday was a day of discussions, decisions and ultimate CHANGE. Honestly, I DON'T care for it! I worry--PERIOD!! I always play the "what if" game, and feel like my Greek grandma (Yia Yia) who would wring her hands together, making me wonder if she still had skin left on them! I do the same, coupled with restless nights with a myriad of issues running rampant through my mind--I have been working on world hunger for years now, and THINK I might be half the way there! I think having the ability to renovate a barn into your HOME is exciting. Our first home was small and a REAL "fixer-upper". LOVED the planning, and watching the fruits of our labor become a reality. Both of you are creative, and working side-by-side; I know you both will make a wonderful, warm home, along with the lifetime memories getting there!! 💓🥂🌄💕😊

Change is only hard if you allow it to be. I am a modern day gypsy and learned to look at change as a new adventure. There is always struggles in life and change is inevitable but we must control whether it is good or bad. I live by the old saying "when life gives you lemons make lemonade" and this has worked for over 50 years. You will do great in any new adventure you decide to embark on because of your wisdom and kindness.

when my husband and I were newlyweds, we flipped a house for his grandparents in a small town. We enjoyed it so much. After we completed it, we lived there for a short time. But the economy in the small town was lacking jobs that would would not give us a living wage with even 2 paychecks. So we ended up moving back to the big city to work. We have been married 39 years and do only minimal flipping now. It was exciting as a young couple though. Enjoy this project and time spent together.

We are in a similar situation- as first time home buyers we bought what we could in this market. It wasn’t anywhere near my dream house which was disappointing, but we’re working to make it feel like home and it has already grown so much since we moved in August. We’re grateful to have a home we can make as much our own as we can and are trying to roll with the realities while still holding space to allow this different home to become a new dream made true.

I have only once had a change that brought unmixed joy with it, and that was because my life before that change had been so dark and miserable. Sadness at a change in our circumstances is the price we have to pay for the happiness we have known before the change, and I have learned to embrace it. I have found it helpful to take time to celebrate my home and to try to prepare to move in an unhurried way, so I can spend some time thinking about all the good things that home has known as I pack it into boxes. P.S. I loved that cute shot of Aeigir 'helping' you tidy up at 4.52!!! my dog also likes 'helping' me in the kitchen (-;
