My grandpa has the same first and last name as me. He passed away this year on March 21, 2018 which was on my birthday. I dont really know where im going with this but when I was looking at the tombstone, it was like looking at my tombstone. Don't take your life for granted, every minute counts and most of all be with the people you love. That quote is kind of cheesy, I know, but it's true.

While I know this is a sad story... Living in Western Australia, I did chuckle at the "6 hours is a long drive" part. Over Christmas I drove 36 hours to visit my Grandmother... and only passed through 4 "towns" (only towns in the loosest sense of the definition). I loved the sentiment and the realness of this video Casey, it's a side we don't always see of you, so sorry for your loss.

How is 6 hours not a long drive? Sure, it's not the longest drive ever, but it's not short. Loads of Americans drive 36-more hours on road trips across the country, but most people take airplanes out of convenience.

How sweet was your Nana? I am 67 years old. I wrote a journal for 20 years that my daughter Erin can go read in notebooks. And I am making her audio recordings of my current life and past events and stories that she can listen to when I am gone and when she can bring herself to listen to them. These things are important but in the end all we have is love ... and that is the most important thing we leave behind ...

Ever since I have been subscribed, Casey has always made it clear that his goal was to have a message or take away from each of his videos. What an important message this was, Casey! It is so easy to look outward when there is a tragedy in life. Questions like "why me?' "what did I do to deserve this?' or "why now?" can be overwhelming in most cases. The grieving seems endless and unfair. But it is because of these tragedies and experiences that we are able to effect those around us with what we learn from them. This video is a physical representation of Casey using his experience to pass on a message; the message of the importance of family, the importance of living in the present moment, and above all the message of gratitude. Now and then it is so essential to stop where we are and be thankful for all of those who have helped us get to our present stage in life. Thank you so much for this message Casey! This is what creating is all about.

That journal... I only wish my nana had kept such a thing. I feel like it would be the most wonderful, sad, happy, and just amazing gift that anyone could leave their loved ones. It’s made me want to go back to journaling daily... I did it pretty consistently from 12-19, but then I stopped and now I’m 30. Perhaps it’s time to pick up my old journal and start back up again, except this time instead of it being just for me, I could use the extra motivation of leaving it as a gift for my loved ones someday. Great video, thank you for posting it.

When you talk about your nana it makes me sad & it makes me happy. I had some similar experiences a few months ago when my grandma passed away. I learned so many things about her life. Some sad things & some happy things. I read her "joyful moments journal" that she kept. It was full of moments where she felt joyful. All of them involved our family. It inspired me to start my own joyful moments journal. I used to be really good at journaling everyday, but as I've gotten older it happens less & less. It makes me a little sad to hear your stories, because they remind me of my stories. I'm so glad you were able to celebrate her life with your family.

This isn’t a sad story - it’s a beautiful story of ‘life’. So important to take photos!

Tobias Eriksson sorry I disagree. Life is journey, this lady went past “3 score year and ten”.... she lived an amazing life and watched her family blossom, the hardships she encountered in her early years undoubtedly taught her children valuable lessons about work ethic etc. She must have been extremely proud of her ‘clan’. Death isn’t sad when somebody has lived a fulfilling life ..... remember death awaits us all - even you. Death is part of life, without death this planet fails rapidly. A life wasted..... now that is sad.

Nice work Casey. Thanks for sharing. My grandmother just passed away last week, too. Flew to Michigan for the funeral on Friday and it was a bittersweet time to see all my aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, etc. Oh. It was a happy time. She was 102 years old!

Great story, sounds like an even greater woman. Sorry for your loss. I know you've said how she was a big inspiration for you. I'm certain she loved watching your videos and would have enjoyed this warm tribute the most. Side note: one of the most enjoyable videos you've ever produced!

It's such an amazing thing to see another family come together - as I have been so lucky to do as well, since the passing of my mother 10 years ago. I hope this get-together brings you many more meetings and time spent together as a family! Getting reacquainted is such an experience you never thought you could enjoy so much, and crave again when you were apart. Cheers!
