I'm not okay right now...but I will be.
Opening up about things in my life that are personal or emotional is something that is unbelievably challenging for me. As a mother, a wife, a daughter, a friend and a sister, I feel like I need to be calm and strong for everyone all the time. An emotionless pillar of positivity and strength. In the last few months, I have come to the realization that sometimes it's okay to let your guard down. It's okay to open the box of emotions that you keep buried deep down in your heart because the more that you keep filling it and pushing it down, the more likely it is to explode.
I'm hoping that this video helps someone feel less alone during hard times in their life.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Sometimes it takes a while until the grief really sets in, but when it does, it hurts more than anything in the world. I lost my grandparents back in 2019, and that didn't really hit me until late 2020... My grandpa was basically like a father to me, so it's been really hard. But long story short, you are really strong & you'll be fine. ❤️ They are with you and always will be.

Thank you for being real and relatable. We as a society are so willing to tear down each other. People seem to do that more easily to those they view as strong, happy, and 'together'. The fact that you are able to show your vulnerability even to those that may not appreciate it, speaks volumes about you. It shows that you are real and makes me enjoy watching you even more! Keep your chin up and thank you for all of your amazing talent.

I can't imagine being in your position. Just know that your pure intentions are deeply felt by those of us who are open to your beautiful light. I now look forward to getting ready in the mornings with your videos as my company and you as my guide. Your Grandparents were so blessed to have you as their granddaughter! Thank you Gabby. I just came across your channel by happenstance. I have end stage liver disease so I'm usually up all night & sleep all day. I watched like 5 of your videos back to back because I just turned 50 & though I'm in pain & tired, I still want to look good for the sake of my children & grandchildren. Once I started watching this one however, I'm like bawling crying like 30 seconds in. What a beautiful legacy & life your grandparents story left you with. Your warmth & love for them shines so epically through your words! Please know that even though I don't know you personally, you'll be in my thoughts & prayer & thank you for your vulnerability, it's given me so much more than a "how to look younger" vid. 🙏💜

My deepest sympathies on your loss of your grandparents. I KNOW FIRST HAND what you are feeling. I am 55 and lost my 97 year old grandmother my "Nanny" in March of 2022. She was my life and has been my whole world since I was born. I took care of her and was there with her till her last breath. I wish you peace and happy memories to help take away the tears that just appear for no reason or from a smell, or a song. I love your make up videos and I will love them even more knowing you are so down to earth. Grandparents are the best! I only hope to be half of what my nanny was to me to my future grandchildren. Peace & Love

Hi there beautiful! I am almost 71. A grandmother of 9! I want to tell you that hearing you speak about your grandparents and the wisdom your grandfather gave to you really blessed me. Thank you. I have been feeling afraid of aging. I look in the mirror and see someone with greying hair and wrinkles. It can be hard at times. But today I think how wonderful to be here. My husband and I share almost 37 years together. We like your grandparents share this wonderful journey. You my dear are so precious. Thank you for sharing your heart and your beautiful gift of helping people on life’s journey. God bless you.

I am a new subscriber and I have NEVER left a comment on anyone's channel before. I want to congratulate you on your ethics, and honesty. I understand sponsorships. As an interior designer, I have been asked so many times to promote products. If I don't like the company policies, the product, or if I like the product, I will speak about it with MY WORDS, not theirs. I also related so much to you about your grandparents. I grew up with mine. I cried with you.I will be 70 soon, and I still miss them after 30 years. I love your make-up and skin care tutorials for women my age. Looking natural with a warm glow is key. My mother is 87 and that is how she has always done her make-up. People think she is much younger. You are a beautiful soul. Your gentleness and kindness shines through. Never change for anyone. ...this is the first time watching this...how?...I don't know. I'm 73 and have been battling vertigo for the last two weeks, so I'm not driving, at the moment...and scrolling my computer seems to be my current sport. I need to watch your videos on makeup for the elder...wait, more mature folk. My main concern is whether I'll be able to hear your hints above the slurping sounds of my very interesting face, drinking in the creams...I cried with you...I remember when my grandparents departed this life and I loved them so much. I'm old enough that my folks, friends, and recently...my beloved husband have also departed. Life can be so difficult at times. Remember, we're all here for a reason. We may never know, on this side, what it is, but each one of us matters more than anyone understands. As far as the people who say harsh things and judge. You'll see those folks racing around Walmart in those carts, nearly knocking us all on the floor as they grumble and curse the very air around them. They have way worse problems than the rest of us and you will learn the art of eye rolling and quiet prayers for the unlovables in this world. Our time here is incredibly brief and each day is a gift. You are gorgeous and delightful. Keep sharing your heart. Blessings to you, sweet girl. 🥰

On a separate note: I had an incredibly close relationship with my grandparents as well and when I lost them, it was beyond devastating. I couldn't talk about it for years.... without breaking into tears and reliving the loss. I've learned that there is nothing anyone can say to take away the pain. Grief is a very solo journey... much like having the flu. Then one day you feel like you are feeling like yourself again. We also don't ever get over it, rather I pray that your heart grows to make room for it. You are very special and so blessed to have felt that much love, that's truly what the grief represents. I will leave you with my favorite quote from the inimitable Eleanor Roosevelt : "No one can ever make us feel bad, without our permission." Firstly Gabi, please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your dear Grandparents. See you crying made me cry, as I could feel what a loving relationship you had. Thank you for being so honest in all the things you talked about. I’m not sure I’ve ever commented here before. I only knew one Grandparent. Both my husband and I were born to older parents, and so as we got older it was like looking after grandparents. All 4 of our parents passed away just before Covid. Mine 6 months apart, hubby’s just 3 months apart. It’s been devastating because we don’t have any close relatives, and no children. I’m 60 now, but when my in laws were sick, I landed in hospital and almost died. You are so wise when you say, one day you are young, and then you are old. I’m lucky to be 60 at this point. Facing death makes you realize the truly important things in life. Your children, husband, friends, parents, that’s all that matters. At 60, the one thing I’ve learned is that there are a lot of messed up people in this world. They do not feel good about themselves, so they criticize YOU! It’s not about you, it’s about them. They are going to make you feel bad about yourself. Knock you down a few rungs, in hopes that you’ll feel badly like they do. Looking at someone so young and beautiful such as yourself can make you feel less than if you are not young and pretty, but that’s my problem if I feel that way. A comment that is mean, is not an “ opinion”, it’s just a mean comment that does NOT serve anyone in any way. You have a right to delete that. And I wish you would. I want to see positivity but also honesty from you, and in the comments. That’s called civil society, which seems to be disappearing. You have a right to make a living Gabi. Thank you for posting such quality content and for sharing tips for aging skin and hair. I appreciate you VERY much. Tracey

I lost my mom and dad a week apart. A double funeral was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. Losing your love ones takes a very large part of you. The only thing that gets me through is my faith. 🥰 Hi, I’m so sorry about what happened with your grandparents. They were so blessed to have such a loving granddaughter. I’m 73, I just watched a video of you doing the makeup of an older woman, she looked gorgeous. I think that it’s good that you shared what is going on in your life-sometimes we need to get things out and cry, and hopefully you will receive a lot of genuine encouragement. I liked hearing about how ethical you are with sponsors. I only follow a handful of people, in all different areas-but they are all ethical and genuine. I will be following you. Also about the sponsors pushing people to lie and say things prematurely about their products-I didn’t know how bad it was-I’m glad that you shared that, it’s a burden. You need sponsors that you believe in. I hope that as you continue to heal from the deeply emotional things that have happened-I hope that you will get back some or a lot of your confidence and be able to distance yourself emotionally from these abusive, hateful people. It truly seems that there are more boldly hateful people than ever before. They have a problem. God bless you, your family, and your channel. ❤️ Love and prayers 🙏

I''m not sure if you'll see my comment since this video is from a year ago and I'm just seeing it now. First, I wanted to reach out and give you the BIGGEST HUG. Your sharing about your grandparents was so heartful and so true. When you are young, you feel like the people and things you love will be with you forever. It's not that you necessarily take things for granted, but you are going through life at your pace and cannot possibly think about loss in your every day. I think that would freeze people. It's just not realistic. You are so lucky to have had the relationship you did and for so long a period, into your adult life. Many of us don't get that chance. On a second note, you are so helpful and so sincere in your presentations. I truly appreciate that. Of COURSE you're not hiding jowls, age spots and things that someone 10-20-30 + years older than you have. Each decade brings you something else... but you really need to appreciate how far you've come and love your age. STAY STRONG & BE WHO YOU ARE. DO NOT LET ALL THE MISERABLE TROLLS, and thankfully they are in the minority, change that for you. Sending HUGS ... thank you for sharing this video. I adore you even more! xoxo

I RARELY write comments on youtube; perhaps 3 my whole life! I LOVE your channel, you are beautiful (and I can tell you're young ;), professional and I trust your overview of the products you present. I've bought a few different things at your recommendation and adore them. As a 50 year old high school teacher, I'm always shocked at how we can speak to each other over social media; not having to look the person in the eye and not allowing that person to rebuttal or defend themselves. Your insights to this career choice is truly eye opening; I lifted you up in prayer today.

Wow Katherine thank you so much for taking he time to leave me a message with so much insight. I am really thankful to have people like you on this channel. Being a content creator is a relatively new career and it is amazing in many ways but also incredible hard in others. I don't think anyone talks about it but the mental health struggles that come with it can be all consuming. I'm sending you a virtual hug.

I was 15 when I lost my mom, she was 42 as well. She struggled with mental issues and was trapped in a bad marriage with a man who only gave her $1 a day (it was the 80s and cigarettes cost a dollar back then). Anyway, she committed suicide when she purposely knelt in front of an AM Track train. It’s still painful to even think about.

I am so sorry for the loss of your grandparents. At 73 I have lost family and friends and it's heartbreaking. I do love what your grandfather said and I will try to remember that. Gabi, you are one of my favourites and I respect what you say and show us. I now realise so many don't vet a product and then it becomes a "fail" later. That is so frustrating to me--especially after I've purchased it. Please take a deep breath, know that you are very. much appreciated by most and keep going.

How beautiful you are to show your vulnerability. It will help some to realize that you are human too, not just a beauty queen. There will always be the mean people, insecure in themselves, that attack others to make themselves feel important. I am sorry that you have to experience that. It happens to teachers a lot. Continue to be the model in classy behavior as well as glamour. I am sorry about your grandparents. Both my grandparents and my parents have passed. I am glad for the good times you had with yours, and sad for the lack for time. Enjoy who is left, encouraging their stories for you to remember for a lifetime. Peace and kindness to you

I appreciate your authenticity today. You give tips for women who want to be as beautiful as they are by enhancing their face with the talents you have worked hard to learn. People come in and judge you, your model choices and your being young, your botox, your eyebrows. just whatever they can find to instill negativity into your vibe, these people do not like themselves, sadly thesenpeople are treating you how they feel about themselves, and no amount of tips you are sharing are going to help them, at the end of the day we all know that beauty abounds inside out. Your sharing about your grandparents touched me, reminded me of family I have loved and lost, I cried, I needed that, and your a beautiful soul!! Be Blessed, thank you. Best Piper Coleman

Thank you for sharing everything that you do, for us, Gabi. I can tell you from the experience I had a few yrs ago of my husband dying traumatically after an outpatient procedure gone wrong to my son taking his own life last year, that life is not always how we expect it to be. And we learn from these terribly hard things to give ourselves grace. When no one else is there, you have to love yourself enough to take care of you every day, every minute, every breath, whatever that means for you. And eventually you find a peace in the eye of the storm, and you know you will be ok. Be ok, girl, take care of you. You have to put on your own oxygen mask before you help anyone else❤

Gabi, I just finished watching this video and wanted to tell you first off that I think you are absolutely beautiful. And how your platform on KZfaq changed my hair and my life. I am almost 70 and started losing my hair, when I started searching for videos and found you. I knew I wasn't alone and you didn't have to be 70 to have thinning hair. I bought some of the hair tools and products you recommended (Tymo Hot Air Brush) by the way I had purchased a hot air brush in the past but didn't know how to use it correctly till I saw your video. My husband of 32 years said this was the best my hair has looked in all those years. So thank you for all of your help and advice in making me feel sooo much better about myself.

Girl, I am almost ten minutes in while starting to write this, and I am crying so much. My heart aches for you because I know how hard it is to lose a grandparent, and all growing up, you had the biggest heart! I wish there was a way to just wipe all the pain away, but if you just take the hits as they come and let the waves of emotion wash over you even through the tears, those memories bring you closer to them and eventually bring you peace so you can smile when you think about them. I know that's wordy, but it's true. My grampa passed in October, and I still find myself crying and wishing he would call and bother me again. I'd give anything to stay on a call with him for an hour trying to figure out how to get his music on his ipod, but then I also find comfort from knowing he's no longer in pain. I know this type of content isn't what you're normally comfortable with, but I'm grateful you were brave enough to do it. It wasn't the way I planned to spend my morning, but I'm glad I got the opportunity to! I really want to re-connect in the near future. We need to get the trio back together because life is hard, and we need to support the people we love. You and your arched brows are absolutely beautiful!! You're not alone either I hope you know that! ❤️💕

Tiffani thank you so much for taking the time to leave that comment and for spending the morning with me. It's the little things isn't it? I would do anything now to feel annoyed at him for calling me 5 times in a row when I was in the middle of doing a wedding party. And then half the time when I picked up, he was half out of frame on the Ipad because he didn't know how to centre himself on the screen. HAHAHA! I know one day I will think about all of this and it will make me feel happy. But right now it just makes me feel tremendous sadness. One foot at a time right? You can fast forward through grief.

Gosh that really hit home. "Grief is the price we pay for love." I’m proud of you for challenging yourself to post this even though it’s been super hard. Your grandpa sounded soooooooooo full of wisdom! It’s so hard seeing grandparents and loved ones pass and go through that journey of life. It’s incredibly tough. I feel happy for you to have had those memories and special bond with your grandparents. I highly suggest looking into personal therapy if you’re not already going…. Look into the different types of therapy, like somatic and edmr and psychodynamic and dbt .. cbt is the average but I think there are better! Those specializing in IFS are my favorite!!!!! Many can feel shame when thinking of therapy, but it’s just a way to explore yourself deeper with someone neutral and educated, an expert! Also it’s important to find someone you fit well with, it isn’t like just finding one will be your best fit automatically. Knowing if you want a straightforward type that challenges you or calls you out OR one that listens patiently and is more of a presence and understanding and let’s YOU lead, knowing what’s best for you will help loads and asking what type they are during the interview 15 minutes will help you find a good fit. You sharing is important for yourself and others too. Keep going. Day by day, hour by hour if need be. Life is beautiful and messy and tough and exciting and hard and wonderful…. But at times we need more support, more than just friends and family. Also I wanna mention that those comments that stick and trigger, there’s some part within that’s rooted deeply with insecurity and fear, maybe fear of not being seen and understood (basic natural human need!) or an insecure of being misinterpreted.. and this can trigger deep wounds from childhood, etc. When those comments stick, it’s sticking for a reason. There’s an inner part struggling with what was said and that inner part has a truth and needs to be heard and validated. IFS (internal family systems) is ALL about recognizing internal parts and helping them and seeing them… this process can help change how we react subconsciously too. So this deep inner work (that therapy just assists with - like a dentist assisting with teeth health) helps us unlock our deeper selves understand ourself better and find ways to help ourselves, which makes us a better person and parent and partner ❤❤❤

I think it was a blessing that your grandparents passed so close together - neither of them had to do without the other for very long. When I get sad and lonely for loved ones I've lost, I say a prayer for them. It's good for me and for them. It really seems to help. I hope this tip can help you, too. Rest assured, your video is exactly the message I needed to hear. So the video that was so difficult for you to post is, in fact, a blessing in this world. I am in awe of your honesty and bravery. You, and women in general, have so many demands on them. Expressing your emotions is healthy and so is saying, "No." I love your channel and look forward to your videos!

I just subscribed after watching a video of you with Justin Hickox. I enjoy your channel. Thank you for being transparent. I'm sorry you lost your grandparents. They seem pretty amazing. Grief comes in and out in different seasons, you never know when it'll hit. Prayers. You're a beautiful young lady with amazing eye brows! Keep doing what you are doing!

Thank you for sharing this with us. I am so sorry for how much negativity there is and how it has affected you. You are spot on though, we act like it doesn't affect us but it does. And what you mentioned about being alone all day really stuck out to me. I've been reading about the epidemic of loneliness and it's honestly a health issue. I hope you are feeling better 💓

Thank you for a Wonderful Eye Opening Video! I am so grateful to KZfaq for so many many wonderful, creative and super talented people like you (influencers) who have made my life so much better just by watching you and them! I know I speak for hundreds, (probably thousands during Covid) of us, who sometimes remain silent and don’t let you guys know how much you are appreciated, loved, admired, and respected… we are sooo very grateful for your videos and their content! To you and all of you hard working KZfaq people who can write, produce and star in your own Show….You guys are incredible! Honestly, how many people can remain interesting and relevant week after week, even year after year?! That’s amazing. We look forward to seeing your beautiful faces and charming personalities and wonderful content. I have learned so much about practically everything because of awesome people like you that bring so much knowledge into my life. And we certainly hope that the “bullies on the block” don’t scare you away…. and there always are bullies of some kind or another, …because then they win ! And WE lose! In reality, there are a handful of them and hundreds of us that count on you each week! So please ignore them because we need more “good” in our lives instead of bad. Please remember this when you see a negative comment… and think of music, and how we each have different tastes in songs… and just imagine that person doesn’t like the same music you do… so without judgment just ask them to “change the channel”.😂 Sorry for your terrible loss!❤

OMG I NEEDED this. I own a small store and people have no idea how much work goes on that customers don't see. I work a 12hr day, someone comes in and sees me sitting for lunch, but something in the store isn't done and gets nasty comments that I'm lazy. You are SO RIGHT. It bites and sticks more now than it used to. I am about to go put my happy face on, again, I will work my butt off all day, again, and it WON'T be enough, again. But I also have a family so here I go, again. Peace and love to you, both of us.

Gabi, I appreciate you opening your heart as I you have a great message about living your life to the fullest, so that a few bad days don't count in the end. I too had a very special relationship with my grandma. I loved her more than I did my parents.

I am so appreciative of your honesty!! I totally understand how hard all of those comments much be! I have been in that space where I’ve heard 100 great comments, but the one not so bad comment is all is focus on. And that’s not even on a platform, but just real life. I know you already know those people that say nasty comments are unhappy themselves … hurting people hurt people. I watch you because you’re a bad ass at what you do and I am drawn to your beauty, sass and style. Not to mention I’ve struggled with hair loss. I am one of those more mature women that follow you - I’m 57 and I learn so much from your channel. I wish I could erase your brain from those thoughts i know I’m rambling. Just wanted to let you know that I support and respect you. Please keep being you! Do you! I love your eyebrows! Damn haters.

I have never come across your channel before and I watched a couple others before this one. Thank you for choosing to use your passion in life to help others. Thank you for sharing your beautiful soul with the world. The ones that judge you are really judging themselves and don’t know how to see love in others and in themselves. So sad for them. You, on the other hand, have much to be admired for well beyond what the eyes can see in a video. You are not alone, especially now. I’m sorry you feel sadness for your grandparents, but they are with you so much more now than before. Keep shining your light sweet girl for your grandparents and for the rest of us! ❤

I just found you last week when looking for a hair video on whether or not to cut bangs and best looks for me at 70 years old. I loved how you devoted so much of your time to speak to us that are more mature with tips and tricks for beauty advice. I see now where your love for my age population comes from. Well, I subscribed to your channel right then and there and am so glad I did. I cried along with you during this video as I remembered those that I have loved and lost. I am sorry for your loss of two very prominent and present people in your life. You are beautiful and genuine and matter to so many of us here. Thanks for your vulnerability and posting this heartfelt dialogue with us.

Thanks for being so honest. I’m fairly new to your channel. My first impression was that I liked you and that you seemed authentic. I then became a subscriber. I appreciate the difficulties you talk about being a content creator. I personally couldn’t do it or deal with the issues. I just want you to know that you come off as very easy to relate to. You cannot make everyone happy or have everyone like you. That’s true for all of us. Just be yourself. If what you’re doing for a living is dragging you down, find something else. We luckily have choices in this world.

Thank goodness your grandfather went quickly and your grandmother soon after. My parents were married at 16 and my dad passed when they were 73. My mom started praying that day to join him but lived almost 14 years longer. She also had dementia and was nonverbal and non mobile the last three years. It broke my heart daily to know she just wanted to be with her love. It’s so hard to watch especially when you can’t do anything to help.

Gosh that is the most heartbreaking thing EVER. I agree that it was the best case scenario for them because after he passed, she only had to live with that grief for a few short months. Talking to her during those months were horrible though. I will never forget her pain and the sadness that the end of life can bring.
